Money Money 2020 Part II: We Told Ya So! - Out Friday

A Worry Rock

The lyrics to Trans Am just might be a lot deeper than they seem.

Transient Amnesiac, anyone?   Or transitioned in the state of being, or "am".

White knuckles racing cause of forces soaked and pure in focus
Got myself I'm driving her inertia telling me who I am

the coolest line on the album and it's a call forward to Amnesia Vagabond.

I'm going to crack this code, darn it.

Studying the lyrics to Degenerate and why is he pronouncing the title word like that?   I say it heavy on the GEN part, but he's saying.......the heck if I know.    He's speaking a completely different language or something.

He does that a lot to make a word fit with a melody. I know there are many examples because I’ve noticed this before but the one that always comes to mind is from Redundant — “like a produc-TION line going over and over...”

Okay, tons of Covid-related lyrics throughout.

Not sure where I first heard it, but it was either Green Day or Blink-182 who pronounced listen just like it's spelled and I have said it like that ever since.   Hard T for life!

I thought it was "She says that she is kosher but we know she's a brunette" and "we know that she's a vegan."

It's bigot both times, it just sounds different because he phrases the line slightly differently each time and it changes how he pronounces it. The first time he kind of shoehorns the lyric in and it makes him put the stress on the wrong syllable

1st time: She says that she is kosher but we know she's a bigOT, she is a nazi

2nd time: She says that she is kosher but we know that she's a BIGot, she's a nazi

I don't know, I keep listening to this and I am hearing it is "She she that she is kosher but we know she is a pig, she is a nazi." It would fit since Jews don't eat pork and consider pigs unclean, therefore not kosher.

I hate that he does it because when I’m singing along I get it wrong every time  the first prechorus is ‘she’s got a Gucci swastika’ and the second one is ‘she has a Gucci swastika’ and I’m still mixing them up 😑

I always thought it was ''She say that she is kosher but we know that she's a bigot, she's a nazy''

I think the "big" part of bigot could just sound like big/pig on its own because of the slightly off way he says it.

I keep listening and I am still confused LOL. Sometimes it sounds like pig and sometimes it sounds like bigot LOL.

It’s bigot 100%. Even in a song like this, saying pig about a Jewish person would be an extremely anti-semitic and offensive thing to say and they would never go there.  Nazi is hyperbole and directed specifically at Ivanka, but pig has broader connotations.

I agree. It would be kind of hard for me to believe he would say that, though at the same time the point may be that she isn't really Jewish and isn't really anything she claims to be, kinda in the same way they are calling her a Nazi. Anyway, I do feel you though.

I mean, you can’t deny she’s Jewish, but the problem is that she uses her privileged position to support things that would eventually be harmful to Jewish people. She might not be an actual nazi, but she’s contributed to giving real nazis and other racists a platform and political influence.

Exactly. She is privileged and above the harm, and she doesn't care who gets harmed, even if she should supposedly be able to identify with them.

Welcome to 2020 everybody, where we now have Jewish Nazis.

She is being called out for her conduct not her identity as you say here. To call her ‘pig’ is to attack her identity, for being Jewish which they would not do. ‘Bigot’ is attacking her for her conduct — for not acting like a Jewish person should, consistent with their values, and that’s fair. It’s calling out hypocrisy.

Nazi is just an umbrella term for any racist now.

If someone's called a Nazi nowadays, it's most likely not being used to say the person is strictly anti-Semitic.

Hitler's Nazi party was infamously anti-Semitic, but the neo Nazis are just plain racist.

In IIAN, he's probably using "Nazi" in the modern sense of the word.

I should have said ‘bigot’ instead of Nazi since that’s the disputed lyric but the argument still stands. Conduct, not identity. I edited my comment

Exactly. It’s hypocrisy and it makes no sense for her to support this.

Nazis weren’t only anti-semitic. They’ve also committed mass genocide of Romani people and planned to do the same with pretty much everyone who they didn’t consider Aryan. What a coincidence that they chose to start with minorities who were already oppressed.

If we wanted to be precise in who we call a nazi, we should probably ask if they support national socialism as an ideology, but most of those who consider themselves nazis now are pretty much just white supremacists/racists anyway. I mean, I personally see no point in saying “they’re not nazis, they’re just racist” when these people walk around with torches like the reich came back.

I’m not always comfortable with banding around Nazi carelessly, the risk is it belittles what went before, but I think in Ivanka’s case it’s fair.

Yeah, I agree that a lot of words get used casually and lose their meaning, but I would argue that the Trump administration is the closest thing to actual fascism in western society since WWII, so it definitely fits.
