pacejunkie punk
And besides, what is the point of a producer? Where the hell was Butch Walker when they recorded Degenerate? Isn't it his job to say Billie this song is amazing and it really should be a single?

I can't even understand why it isn't a featured track for The Network. I wish this song could get radio play. Why does he always throw away his best stuff? I honestly have no idea. It's such a groovy, dark and sexy song. It sounds fresher than FOAM.

I have lost faith in their choice for singles a long time ago but I agree this would definitely be a hit and they're dumb if they don't make it a single for The Network! I think Butch Walker did a very good job with the music, I doubt we would have Degenerate without him, but I just don't understand what was going on when they were making the final cut. Fire Ready Aim made it, Oh Yeah made it, Art Of The Deal and Degenerate didn't. Stab You In The Heart did, Jerry Falwell didn't (not sure when it was written, but if they wanted to rewrite and rerecord a trilogy song, Kill the DJ deserves the spotlight over Fuck Time any day). FOAM is enjoyable and fun, but they clearly had better material in store and just decided to... not use it??? Why?

Clockwise
So it's pretty clear Degenerate and Devil were meant for FOAM. Where on the tracklisting do you think they would go?

Billie said he took the whole list and in the end just went with his own personal top ten. At 26 minutes, would it have killed them to make it twelve songs and include Degenerate and Art of the Deal? Still would have been a short 30 minute album. And how the heck weren't those songs in his top ten anyway? Fire, Ready, Aim could even have been a bonus single just for the NHL, it wasn't really an official single it didn't need to take up space.

Next step: profit. I might do this since track order doesn't seem to matter much and iTunes already is going to disorganize this with the Trans Am EP.

Popular Post DookieLukie
Every time a Green Day song is released... Some GDCer: "This would be a hit single." Let's face it, rock music isn't getting hit singles in this market. 2 1

He has no taste jfc. Or I don't know what could have influenced the decision. I'm convinced Fire Ready Aim only made it because of NHL. He's in one of the biggest rock bands today, they managed to negotiate a deal that lets them to anything. Why hold back?
Met Fan
I guess things moved along much faster than I anticipated, I only found out about the release day 2 days ago. I'm pretty excited about the record. Also, such nostalgia! I remember discussing Money Money 2020 here on the forums when the reissue came out and how much I raved on and on about how much I loved Hammer of The Gods. Then the speculation when the "live" show was announced, we had a long ass thread about that haha Disease is Punishment and discussing all the ways we could tell it's Green Day behind the masks, see back then it wasn't as obvious. I mean everybody was like 80% sure but we had some fun with the uncertainty here on GDA. Anywho, where can I buy the mp3s tomorrow? The preorders link they posted only takes me to the page for the CD and vinyl and those are coming out next year.

With 25 songs I'm sure there's a decent amount of him. It's kind of nice to hear the others sing when it's so rare and they can be good and/or funny. Fink/Van Gough duet songs are cool too. Like, it's not Green Day so can't really expect the same things from it. I actually really like Van Goughs songs a lot
