The Network is back!

Yeah, after thinking on it some more, I am firmly in camp TUT is real. IMO, there's just too many things that would have to be massive coincidences for it to be phony. Plus BJA acknowledging it at the same time as all the other network stuff that we know is legit. I just don't know why he wouldn't ignore it like all the other fake green day tracks that crop up all the time, unless it was really the network and we were supposed to know about it.

also, I think we may have spooked @2020pt2 off. If this insider that's lurking were wise, I bet they made a new account with a less conspicuous username.

Someone could show up at your door in one of those RevRad Billie Joe masks and you’d be completely convinced

To each their own... I also wouldn’t steal a dead person’s underwear :P

I think the lyrics could also be interpreted about being about Trump/the election. First verse= the White House/losing the election. Chorus=sanity/what happens next.  Second verse= before Trump was president.

Sure, Billie said he would never write a song about Trump, but that doesn't mean Fink wouldn't. ;)

Trump lives in your minds rent free. Get over it. Unhealthy obsession.

Okay, what worries me is that the tone of the teasers vs The Ultimate Test are very different. They sound like they belong on completely different records. I still believe that TUT is real, but I am starting to think it actually hasn't got anything to do with this new stuff from The Network and might actually be a proper Green Day song.

It has an back to USA feeling in my opinion

Bingo. Money Money 2020 Part II isn’t going to deviate from the Network formula. Short, simple songs with the classic Network sound. Not only does The Ultimate Test not sound like Billie or Mike (especially when you listen to the bridge), it’s too long and it’s too complex. It doesn’t fit in at all.

I hope TUT is a real Network song, because it is really good and I loved it. Bit it is completely didferent from the other official clips released.

Maybe the video is just from a demo

TUT aside, are we assuming the two others and whatever else is coming are from the Foam sessions they said didn’t fit?  The blurb around TUT said it was recorded in Feb but if it’s really fake that mean nothing.

Why we are assuming that the network songs are from the foam sessions? I bet they just brought the project together after covid and recorded everything at some point after quarantine took over

I doubt it. Most of the original Network songs were written for the album, and wouldn’t fit anywhere else. X-Ray Hamburger and Joe Robot certainly weren’t Warning outtakes. A song about Tarantulas certainly wasn’t written with all the other FOAM material.

there was talk shortly after the FOAM sessions of another "seven or so" songs that were cut because they didn't fit the vibe of the album. That coupled with the original version of the TUT upload saying something about it being recorded back in feb lead to this speculation.

What about Roshambo which is the song I have compared this to several times here. Also a Green Day song adapted for The Network.

Oh, I don’t mind the leggy ones. They look funky  The chunky guys freak me out though. I had one in the storage room earlier this year. It would change where it hung out everyday which gave me anxiety whenever I walked in, so I eventually resorted to violence even though I usually let spiders be or just take them outside

I kinda like spiders. I really wanted a pet tarantula when I was about 8 LOL. I am not as into spiders anymore, but I don't go running in terror from them either. I agree that the thin leggy ones present as the most non-threatening. I have some that live in my bathroom. A couple years ago one ended up in the shower with me and I tried to keep the water off it but it got drenched and it appeared dead so after I got dressed I went back to the shower to retrieve it's body but it had dried out and was crawling around and I was able to get it to crawl onto a paper towel so I could carry it outside to safety. So yeah, they are kinda cool and we coexist LOL. I actually find dead ones a lot more terrifying than live ones; I can't really deal with dead stuff.

To me “The Ultimate Test” sounds more like someone trying to rip off the offspring sound than Green Day or The Network.

I still see articles say it's Devo and Green when it's clearly Jason White, Reto and Roeker....right?

Those darn masks.

Yeah there was some rumour/joke that members of Devo were involved early on but pretty sure they have no connection. It was Billie (Fink), Mike (Van Gogh), Tre (The Snoo), Reto Peter (Captain Underpants), Chris Dugan (Z) on the album, plus Jason White (Balducci) when they played live, and John Roecker as their manager/spokesman Dr Svengali.

(but not really of course, this is just what The Network wants you to believe :P)

Yeah, I never believed it was Devo. Just a devoesque sound.

Perhaps one day Balducci will one day become an official member.

I just looked on The Network's wikipedia page and not only does it have Z and Balducci's real identies mixed up and Van Gogh written as "Van Gough", but someone had the audacity to say that Mike "finally revealed the group was in fact Green Day" when all he claimed was that they'd worked on Money Money 2020 (which in itself is a clearly a lie :P). Terrible.

I mean think of it this way if someone were trying to fake a Network song wouldn’t they go for the cliched sound of X-ray Hamburger or Joe Robot instead of something like this?
