The Grohl
Whoa whoa whoa. Not seeing enough love for the best Network song, Spike. Roshambo is another favorite. And I'm also not a fan of Hungry Hungry Models. As for the new song, it kicks ass! Just waiting on album that I really hope doesn't come out soon to save my wallet. 1
That Dude
While we're at it: Jesus of Suburbia The! Holiday Hear Boulevard of Broken Dreams Where Are we the Waiting Unknown..................okay. That one makes sense. We're changing that one. St. Jimmys Coming. Let's uh....move on. Novacaine Out. She's a Rebel She's Extraordinary Girl In Letterbomb *scream* Wake me up when september ends here Homecoming, like Letterbomb, is tricky. Maybe F&*k No! Whatshername Has. Keep these stupid titles in mind when voting, folks. I am LOVING everything we've heard so from MACH II.... I do hope that the deep cuts are even more bizarre and weird. You know. The kind of stuff that makes xray hamburgers seem normal. 1 minute ago, The Grohl said: Whoa whoa whoa. Not seeing enough love for the best Network song, Spike. Roshambo is another favorite. Is is related to "Hungry Hungry" somehow? Roshambo is definitely a highlight. I had never heard the word before The Network came along. I always called it "rock paper scissors". regional, I guess? The Roshambo wikipedia page is pretty interesting. There's passaging about other weapons, strategies, and even section talking about how bacteria uses this model for attacking. Wacky! I bet it has something to do with all the scientific stuff the Network guys are into. It should have been a huge hit single.

That's one of the worst ones.
Popular Post Boobooo
I've often wondered if Roshambo was a track from Cigarettes & Valentines that they just tweaked a little to give it that Network sound. One of the lyrics is even "I don't believe in valentines". It's one of the most Green Day sounding songs from that album if you strip away the effects and slight weirdness. I can imagine a more theatrical version of it appearing as an American Idiot B Side or something.

It's definitely bottom five though.

No, it was clearly the Network heaping rightful disdain upon the capitalistic and vain Green Day's "Cigarettes and Valentines" by stating THEY, the Network, did not believe in "'Valentines". When they heard this, Green Day immediately ceased production on the album, but they obviously couldn't admit to the public the true story that this simple diss from the Network was what killed it. So they had to make up stories about it being erased and stolen and then a dog ate their homework and the spare master copies. In a very direct way, the Network was thus instrumental in the creation of classical music album "Speak AMERICAN, Idiot."
That Dude
Listening to Money Money 2020 (and The Ultimate Test!). I put in it in the top 20 best records ever made. Anyone else hear "Joe the Robot" instead of "Joe Robot" It sounds exactly the same no matter which was I say it. GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAah Japanimation Surgery! drinking nuclear energy! "Biological parking lot" is the smartest lyrics to have ever been written. By a logical parking. biological parking lot. It's do seep I type backwards when thinking about. Listening to the album tonight, it seems The Network definitely have their sound and style figured out. Will they expand on it and build a future, or will they disappear forever after this album cycle? They remind me of Gorillaz in a way. Like it's a whole other world being created to contain the musicians. Otherworldly. Very Good. Two Thousand Twenty! I'm reading Network lyrics tonight and can anyone crack the code? Eight zero two eleven B. 80211B. Bosiib? Some really strange lyrical concepts. Oh and that. I've determined Money Money is a concept record. Well, apparently... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11b-1999 "IEEE 802.11b-1999 or 802.11b, is an amendment to the IEEE 802.11 wireless networking specification that extends throughput up to 11 Mbit/s using the same 2.4 GHz band. A related amendment was incorporated into the IEEE 802.11-2007 standard. 802.11 is a set of IEEE standards that govern wireless networking transmission methods. They are commonly used today in their 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac and 802.11ax versions to provide wireless connectivity in the home, office and some commercial establishments. Wi-Fi 1 is an unofficial retronym for 802.11b." 5 1

That funny thing is that I tried to take the lyrics as literally as possible, but that's what made it so insane. There are elements and plot points that definitely seem like an early attempt at the St. Jimmy / Whatshername story. I don't know if The Network and Green Day worked together during Money Money 2020, or what happened. But there's definitely some of the same narrative happening on both records.
