MarriedtoMikeDirnt
What if Green Day were to start a summer program for teens/young adults (14-19) in which they mentored them? It'd be like a summer internship thing. The kids would go to California, get a tour of Otis, learn how to record/produce their own music, learn about the business aspects of punk rock, etc. Anyone got any thoughts to add, comments, questions, etc. I wanna find a way to get this to Green Day so this can happen; I know there would be a lot of people who would love this. Jankowski576
Green Day would not love to do this - they’re typically touring summers and if not need to spend time off the road with family
Red
Yeah, its a cool idea to throw out there and think about but the more I do the more I believe that Green Day can and have taught far more just by doing what they do.

Spend a few hours with the mentees, ship 'em off to wherever, and the rest of the day is for the boys. And of course they couldn't do this if they're touring. 1 hour ago, Sheenius said: Problem is there's this guy named Joey and... I think it's time to retire the Joey jokes. You've made so many that it's old now.
Slave To The Network
Green Day are way too busy and too popular of a band to do something like this unfortunately. I don't think it's realistic. It would be insane for the band to have to do that with multiple kids and super unfair to the thousands of kids who wouldn't have the opportunity. Even if they did do a program like that, just getting into it would be insane. It'd have to be some sort of lotto type system.

Joe.
I'm sure they have better uses of their time than that tbh. Guess they could record some videos with tips or something tho
Hermione
It would be nice for sure, but it's not plausible as something they'd do. They do a lot to encourage young people to play music and I'm sure support their local music scene in various ways already. But something like this would be way too time consuming and a logistical nightmare, they're too big for it.
pacejunkie punk
This is the kind of thing that musicians who don’t become famous do. They become teachers.

Keith Richards did one one year back in the 90’s (altho I think he was having some money issues at the time) but yeah guess he isn’t famous 😉

I'm 35 and could use some mentoring. And and as for the recording, we could trade tips. Billie likes "sh!tty sounding records" so I could probably show him how to make that kind. Green Day Summer Camp. I am in. Unless it's expensive. It sounds expensive.
