Liam
Just now, dudley dawson said: And then specifically added “but if we did...”. I’m not saying it is or is not going to happen, but I don’t see him throwing this out there if it’s not in the works... Which is a hypothetical situation. He only said it because they're celebrating and reminiscing the original album

I’ve been thinking for a while they’d put out another album prior to the rescheduled tour next year, only because FOAM was so poorly received. This would certainly drive the hype train into overdrive.

Hermione
Quote We would never make a "part 2" of any past Green Day album...but if we did it would be Insomniac This isn't a tease. He's just expressing some affection for that album. It's along the same lines as when he says stuff like it would be cool to play all of Kerplunk live. Reminds me of before the trilogy when Billie was asked what stage they were at with the new album and he said they were at the "back to the basics" stage getting started recording and multiple news articles reported that as him saying the next album would sound like Dookie based off that and people were disappointed when it didn't 🤦♀️ I've made the title into a question to make it less alarming
Christian's Inferno!
I don't believe this is what's happening but I do find it odd that they said that considering Insomniac is completely different from every album they've released in the last 20 years. If I try to find similarities between Insomniac and some of their later works; I can find pretty much no similarities other than "they're Green Day"
alienlifeform
After Billie said he was going to destroy the pop punk forever, and then release Revolution Radio... After he calls a 26min new album the 'Father Of All Motherfuckers' and then release the poppiest thing they've ever done, I lost all my hopes they'll redo something like Insomniac again. This was another one where incorrect quoting and bad reporting misled people. He said "destroy the phrase pop punk". He just meant he didn't like that name for it. And when he was asked about it in a later interview he was like what I love pop punk music 1 hour ago, Christian's Inferno! said: I don't believe this is what's happening but I do find it odd that they said that considering Insomniac is completely different from every album they've released in the last 20 years. dallasthemenace
billie's referred to insomniac as the most honest album he's ever done. mike's called it, '..a play at highest volume possible kinda record..'. and it's a balls-to-the-wall, no frills record that's high energy from first note to final note. there will never be an official sequel. however, an album of that same magnitude, utilizing that same dynamic, is entirely plausible and is also likely the type of record they would love to put out again at some point. id welcome the shit out that album.
