Billie Joe event with Swing Left to write letters to voters Friday October 16

Event info from the link:  “Join co-creators Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, along with stars Stark Sands, John Gallagher Jr, Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Aylsha Umphress and Alex Boniello of the hit Broadway musical American Idiot, based on the music of Green Day, for Swing Left’s final letter-writing party of 2020!

Come to get trained and entertained, and most importantly, write lots of letters to underrepresented voters and then send them all out the very next day! There will be songs, dance, trivia and a conversation with special guest Michael Moore.

Also joining the event will be American Idiot cast members Miguel Cervantes, Mary Faber, Christina Sajous, Libby Winters and Leslie McDonel.

We’ll be hand-writing letters to potential voters asking them to vote in critical elections. This proven tactic will help turn out the vote for Democrats in our 12 Super States!

Invite your friends, too, and let them know that Swing Left is hosting a big, innovative program that can effectively turn out Super State voters from home, using a great letter writing template from Vote Forward. Think about it: if you help get a voter to the polls in one of our targeted Super States, you can help Democrats win in the states necessary to flip the White House, the Senate, and the state houses key to rolling back Republican gerrymandering—all at the same time. That’s what Swing Left’s Super State Strategy is all about: maximizing the impact of your time or donations.”

 

Personal Note: I’ve been very involved with this group for some months now and I’ve written 200 letters for them already. It’s a great organization and I’m extremely pleased that Billie has gotten involved with this. The last event they did was with Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of Hamilton and it was a lot of fun.  Their goal was to send 10 million letters to voters and they surpassed that. They are at 12 million with a new goal of 15.  Their plan is proven to increase voter turnout.

Billie’s gonna show his hobo face live for the first time in months I’m surprised this isn’t generating more buzz. If nothing else, let’s lay bets on whether this will get him to shave 😜

I am super excited and pleased that he is doing this too, and I would like to thank you for your own involvement. I am betting he shaves (he may still have crazy hair though).

If it’s similar to the Hamilton one he’ll probably come on the Zoom and tell everyone why it’s important to vote and why he got involved. Lin-Manuel did a five minute talk and then the cast members sang songs from the show, the cast had a show themed trivia game with the moderator and their choreographer taught you a dance move from the show. There were talks from other cast members and people as well. It was like a variety show while you wrote letters.  But it could also be different. Maybe Billie will have his guitar and will sing with the cast? Wishful thinking but who knows.

Yeah, I am still betting he shaves, I don't think his hair will be totally wild like with the headband, but probably still kinda fluffy, maybe like in that Pinterest profile pic. I would love if he went back to black. Either way, I am curious to see him again. I hope he is well.

The link to sign up is in the OP. Try it and see if it works.  There are many voting Americans who live overseas so it may work fine.  You can sign up to view the event without joining to write letters I think.
