Insomniac turns a quarter-century old!

So I got my vinyl! I didn't get a hyper sticker but both vinyls are orange! I'll post pics later. But I still have something else coming from Warner on Monday. I'm guessing it's not my Network trading cards because those were pushed back to April. I'm wondering if it's another Insomniac remaster.

So reading somewhere, the remaster has more dynamic range than the original vynil? OMG

Hopefully! Not sure if that was ever confirmed. It's originally based on this. The digital version seems to be weak in DR, except for the live tracks.

Hey everyone! My orange vinyl has not been shipped yet - does anyone have the same problem?
(It's the first time I buy from their store and I'm wondering if I should write to their assistance or something like that... thank you!)

Welcome!

It looks like a lot of people are getting their orders now, so I would say maybe wait a few days this week and if you still don't get a shipping notification reach out them.

I had to contact them when everyone started getting their FOAM coffee orders, yet I didn't even get a notification. Shortly after I contacted them, I got the tracking number.

Also, it's BS that vinyl orders didn't come with a digital code. Seems like this is a new trend for vinyl purchases because why give it to us when we can just buy it again and give them more money?

My orange vinyl came today and I'm listening now. The packaging is great but I don't like the sound of of the remaster. My favorite green day album got neutered 🙁

Totally agree. Same for NFM and The Network

Right?! I was really shocked that NFM had a digital code. And it's something I noticed with all vinyl I purchased last year. None of them came with a code or an email saying "here's your digital copy."

Happy to provide the "I work for a record label" perspective again lol...

I was just talking to my boss about this exact thing the other day, but lots of labels (including ours) have been considering doing away with download codes in LPs because something like 20% or less of them actually get redeemed... they all still have em in the records as of now though, because he said whenever they DON'T do download codes, that 20% flips their shit and he hears all about it hahaha

The thing with the codes to my taste is that they should provide the digital vynil master, like Rhino did with the last Rush repress, because is pointless to invest in the vynil and get the code for the cd master.

I recall my friend getting the tune in, tokyo vynil and it had a code. The code was redeemed and it was the cd master. Disappointed to say something

My copy just arrived!! I saw the UPS truck pull up from my bedroom window and watched him pull out an LP mailer and immediately got so stoked.

Mine doesn't have a hype sticker either, but I don't really mind too much because now I won't fret over leaving the shrink on or now. Both discs are orange as well. Excited to listen!!!

listening to my copy right now and I just realized the growl/belch/groan/whatever at the beginning of Geek Stink Breath is pretty much the same noise as the thing at the beginning of Cancer Is The New Black... fun stuff

Why is Tight Wad Hill always considered the worst song from Insomniac? Every time I see talk about Insomniac, it usually gets mentioned as a weak point and rarely anyone mentions it as a favourite. It also has the least streams on Spotify for the album by quite a lot. And I see it on Worst GD songs list quite frequently

It's not really a favourite of mine but just curious. I don't consider it any weaker than a lot of the other tracks on the album

So uh...Warner sent me two copies of the orange vinyl. So if someone needs a copy, DM me. I would just ask what I paid, which is $42 plus shipping. US preferred, but will consider international depending on shipping. If you'd want to see pictures, let me know!

*Item is currently on hold for someone. Just waiting to hear back.*

Sent you a PM :)

It's not only the worst song on Insomniac. I think it's the worst Green Day song overall. I really dislike it and I can't really tell why.

I don’t know but I often skip it and if I don’t it just kind of washes over me and I don’t pay attention. Something about the melody it just drones on and isn’t catchy

I am shocked to hear this Tight Wad Hill slander. I've always loved that one. The quarter note ride bell hits in the chorus are so sick

I am shocked! And GD even told us "Here Comes the Shock", but I didn't imagine it to be at the slander crusade of "Tight Wad Hill"!!!  People need to hear it even more, I say!!! Bump it LOUD!

Engineering questions: A) What goes into a Remastering process such as this?

B) Why do they always want to keep the backing harmonies so low in the mix? That's where its at!

To my GD peeps who have not yet received the sacred texts yet... It's coming! And that beautiful, heaven crusted Warner envelope will find its way to you sometime soon! And it will be the best day of you LIFE!

I love Tightwad Hill. :( I got excited when it came on shuffle in the car today.
