New album theory

Apologies if this has already been speculated about in another thread, but with Weezer postponing their new record until next May (to coincide with the rescheduled tour), I wonder if Green Day are going to release a new record as well. It would sort of make sense as the band was hinting at having another one ready soon while they were promoting FOAM. Plus let’s be honest, the fan reaction to FOAM was middling at best. They may want to put out something new just to get us hyped up again.

Anyways, just speculating here. What do you think?

I could definitely see this happening. They did certainly suggest that they have more material, and a lot of artists seem to be productive in quarantine. It kinda would make sense to release something to coincide with the tour and also just to cheer us all up after this shitty year LOL.

They have a new, GOOD album they’ve been saving to release until they’re free from their old contract with Warner.

Oh god, this thread again is partly what I felt but yes, I would take another album anytime they want.

If they don't have another album for their tour next year it would be cool if they did another b-sides collection, the tour would be a good way to promote it

I'd say Billie's definitely working on stuff during the shutdown; writing lyrics and stuff. Idk how likely it is that we'll get a new album in the next year. FOAM was very underwhelming, the first GD album I was truly disappointed in. Whatever they do next, I just hope it's a step up.

Why do you always try to take the fun out of everything? If people wanna speculate what the band are up to, what's wrong with that? You don't have to post here if you don't care about the discussion

YES!  I picked a good night to return to the fold.

ALBUM 14 is going to be straight up, 100% pop.

15 songs, because they have never had a 15 track album.

2 songs with absolutely no guitar or bass on them.

All songs with guitar will be recorded with one Squier guitar and bass.   And a damaged drum set that's worth maybe 20 bucks.

The vocals will sound like Dookie era Billie Joe, but if he had sang for as long as Rev Rad Billie Joe that had never gone to rehab because he didn't need it.   A completely sober, time traveling Billie Joe or something.

Not only will Mike Dirnt backing vocals be back, but Tre Cool on backing vocals as well.   Some Bad Religionesque Oozin Aaaaahs from the gang.

Sequels to songs from a 20 year old album, with a folksy sound.

guests will include a member from Metallica (it's James!)

guests will also include Panicland

and of course, the long awaited return of Lady Cobra and her friends, the very mystic knights of the something something.

Gosh, I've missed this.

If Butch Walker is producing the album it won’t be a step up and if Scott Nagelberg is still their manager it won’t sell any better.

Produced by Rick Rubin, Eminem and Tre Cool.

It will be called the Funko Pop Album and have very interesting artwork.

I'm sure Billie is working on something, but I can picture some sort of compilation or live album being released before another album.

How cool would it be to get a live album of all trilogy songs played from 2012/13 shows considering we will probably never hear them live again outside of Longshot?  We don’t need another live album for Dookie and AI songs

I'm already ready to cry thinking about Stay The Night live 😭

Well, they've said they've wrote others songs that aren't on FOAMF, so 😎

I would love a live album filled with Trilogy and RevRad songs! It would be great especially since they never officially released a live album or DVD for RevRad.

Same but for Let Yourself Go. That song was so good live (and of course we need Brutal Love) ❤️

I still want Bratwurst.

I am banking on Green Day scooping up every made up song title from GDA ever, and making them all into great tunes!

There's going to be so many albums based off my tracklists alone!   (don't worry GDA, I've got them all out of my system!)

We're sitting here talking about a 14TH ALBUM.   How crazy is that?   I honestly don't think we can guess what this band is going to sound like at all, beyond the obvious.

Green Day are going to be Billie, Mike and Tre.   They are going to make music heavily inspire by Billie's perfect taste in punk and pop music.    Mike is going to say the new album is them firing on all cylinders.    Tre is going to be Cool.

Bands gonna band, band.

My source has given me an update on this. Apparently Hetfield wasn’t happy with Lady Cobra’s vocals so he snuck in at night and re-recorded them with none other than Lou Reed. GD have since exited the project.

Lulu volume 2 coming 2021.
