That Dude
Gosh darn it, that's hard! I could have easily spend the whole day comparing song after song and not being able to figure it out. So I went on first impulse and this is what I came up with: 1. The Saints are Coming 2. A Quick One (While he’s away) 3. Haha You’re Dead 4. American Eulogy 5. Still Breathing 6. Viva La Gloria 7. Scattered 8. Too Dumb to Die 9. Rusty James 10. Stuart and the Avenue WOW, there's not even one American Idiot song on there. Letterbomb was contender as I started. I would feel more comfortable looking at my top 23 songs from these guys for sure. I gravitate toward the emotionally powerful, and these songs are tearjerkers for me. I'd love to know the story behind Haha You're Dead if there is one. Looking at these selections, I realize I also like EPIC Green Day tunes the most. I was torn about using non-album tracks, but I had to include them. I know my top two are covers, and honestly Working Class Hero came so close to knocking Stuart and the Avenue off the list. Those covers give me chills, like I'm standing at the edge of the earth with Billie Joe or something. My Green Day fandom, like many around the world, was at a new height after the American Idiot cycle. And when Green Day reactivated in 2007 it a crazy fun time to be a fan. Me and my parents both watched their performance with U2, and were all blown away. I had to buy the single and the U2 collection. A Quick One is a cover that not only outdoes the original, but also reminds me of the music I've discovered BECAUSE of Green Day. Maybe some of the No Fun Mondays will have that kind of a effect for someone else. All ten of these are fun on surface, but also earth-shattering if you listen and feel down deep. and because I love every Green Day song, I'll give my least favorite. Haushinka. I know I'm in the minority here, it just feels like the weakest link in their discography. It's not a terrible song but I don't like the style of music or the vocals compared to other songs. It seems muddy and under-performed to my ears.

That Dude
42 minutes ago, FireBurnsToday said: Which VLG? Also, can you list two other non-cover songs? I like Viva La Gloria better than Viva La Gloria. Hitchin a Ride and Hearts Collide for non-cover favorites. But these covers are just so good, man. Hybrid Moments, We are the Champions, Chocolate Rain - some of the best things in existence. and Johnny B. Goode. Ah heck, I may as well list my other runner ups: Minority, Brutal Love, When It's Time, DUI, Too Much Too Soon, The Grouch, Shoplifter, Church on Sunday, Roshambo, Missing You, Fell for You and Dreamcatcher. and I won't leave you hanging on the Viva La Gloria thing either. The fourth track on Breakdown is the Viva on my list. ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl) is awesome too, but not in my top 23.

That Dude
According to these lists so far, Forever Now is the champion my friends. BANG BANG and Castaway both have a couple votes. Zebahar
In no particular order with some reasoning: - The Static Age: This was the first Green Day song I had ever purchased. Well, technically I got a free song download from a site called Club Bing, and I used it to get a Green Day song because I almost listened exclusively to Queen and AC/DC, and wanted to mix things up a bit. - I Was There: This is the only Green Day song that I have never gotten sick of, no matter how many times I have listened to it. I first heard it in high school, and maybe I was really angsty then, but I thought it was incredibly relevant to my life - 99 Revolutions: The first Green Day song I heard played at my first Green Day concert. I don't think I have to say anymore - Warning: I first heard this song so long ago and don't necessarily remember what drew me to it, but I know the music video definitely played a big part my interest - Missing You: This one is a bit sappy. Again going back to my high school days, I was hanging out with this girl I had a huge crush on and this song started playing and she said to me "is this the song that makes you think of me?" and even though she was joking, she was so right. - American Idiot: When I got my first iPod shuffle, I didn't really listen to any bands, so my dad loaded some songs onto my iPod to get me started. The first song that played was American Idiot, and I thought it was absolutely incredibly. I legitimately got goosebumps. - Words I Might Have Ate: I always liked this song, but I remember hearing an acoustic version of it from the 21st Century Breakdown era and I had a whole new appreciation for it. Again, another song that I could really relate to when I first heard it, and the lyrics still hit me hard even now. - When It's Time: One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I have nothing else to say to follow that. - Still Breathing: I remember I was in college, sitting on a bench outside of my classroom, reading a text from my mom saying that my Grandpa's health was getting worse. Shortly after, I got a notification that Still Breathing had leaked onto YouTube. The song gave me goosebumps. Maybe it was the emotions I was feeling at the time, but the song made me nearly cry. Not only because of my family, but because I knew what the song meant to the band, and that hit pretty hard too. - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life): Even without any memories tied to this song, it is an amazing song. I remember hearing this song at my high school graduation, along with some other major life events. Not only that, but I bonded with new friends over this song, talking about how much it means to us and how amazing we think it is. This song has been with me for nearly my entire life (I was born in 96).

I'm positive I had heard American Idiot first, but watching them play Holiday live before the album came out....it was the moment I KNEW something great was happening. Lots of great tunes here....I am not a huge fan of East Jesus Nowhere, or Revolution Radio. They are okay, but all the others are awesome.
