What else are they gonna do currently? But I get your point. 😊

I wouldn’t be too surprised if they sat around doing nothing while Billie starts 5 new side projects (that we’d love of course)

FOAM is a fun one so I’m looking forward to the new album. 2 months after the release and there’s another one in making??? Is this the same band that released albums every 3 years for the past decade?

This is a band with a restructured record deal 🙂

I think it seems like they have nothing but music right now more than ever. Especially for Billie. His house is probably full of music with three musicians. I Feel like he could do something with his sons or even Adrienne and a The Boo comeback maybe? I don’t know but really if nothing will settle down till 2021 and keep stay our places, there would be nothing to do but create to keep sane as an artist so I feel like when everything back to normal, we’ll be filled with all the new stuff eventually

Where is @That Dude we need him here for album 14 speculation thread 😘

Sorry, I've been in the studio with some friends of mine working on their 14th album.   It's going well, since one of my friends brought in 6 songs nearly completed.

Anyway, I'm here now, with guitar in hand.  The dog's caught in the dryer and this is definitely going to be Warning Part Two - the album that only 30% of Green Day fans want!

I'm so excited!

It's so hard to speculate about the next one, because we all get it wrong every time we do, but it's so freaking fun!

the biggest complaint about FOAM (other than the cover.....and music) was the length.   Will this album be another short one, since we're getting them so close together?   Will it try to correct or over correct the problem?

I've been wanting a 14 track Green Day album for a while, and this being the 14th album....it's just too perfect.

Will this album deal with current world events like the biggest headline TIGER KING, or that virus going around?   Compare one to the other, perhaps?

Will it be a happy distraction album, or a dark, sad march into the abyss?

Will Mike and Tre's vocals be unchained?

Will this one be Broadway ready?

Will there be a song 6 minutes or more?

Will Butch Walker be fronting Green Day?

Will there be Billie Joe solo songs?

Acoustic tracks?

Isn't about time for some Good Riddance style ballads?

Will this be Tre Cool's final album with the band?

Okay.    I feel better now.

Will Billie's voice go even higher?

Will Wes Scantlin teach Billie how to nail those Nirvana covers?

Will Tre Cool play the guitar like he bragged about in American Idiot?

Will Billie Joe become our next president?

Will there be any guest musicains on this album?

Will the liner notes make sense?

Will the credits be accurate?

Will this be the greatest record of all time?

Just now, Squashie said:

No.

So Tre's out already?  Okay.

Tre better not leave - unless it's in a body bag, many many many years from now.

I think all Billie, Mike and Tre should record one hour of music each and email it to Butch.

Let Butch Butch it up and then boom.

new album.    Green Day won't know what Green Day XIV sounds like until it drops.

I wouldn’t mind a weird record produced in social distancing mode, as a concept at least :D It would be something to be remembered, and given the production approach they used for FOAM (working from distance sending demos back and forth), I guess it would not be such a big challenge.
But I imagine they would still need some physical sessions with all of them together to finalize the arrangements.
Anyway, I guess the “we want to put out music whenever we want” thing is actually happening in the end, so fucking awesome :D

Bands do it all the time.  I read Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey didn't see each other at all while recording their latest WHO album.

Of course, I've heard Billie talk poorly about that method.  Or at least praise the chemistry that happens when a band works in the studio at the same time.

But people grow and change and I think Green Day would still have a chemistry working through different mediums.   There are great albums made by seemingly bad methods.

Album 14 could be extremely lo-fi.

Wallflowers and Jewel, not too bad!

And the Ethiopian music is a HINT.

New album is going to be Ethiopian Punk Metal.

Like Dos was sort of a second Foxboro record, this album will serve as both a Billie Joe solo project and a follow to Father of All.   But it's kind of a follow up to Insomniac, or even the Longshot as well.   You just have to hear it to understand.

Mike's baseball bat playing will return.   DUI might actually make the cut, but it's been tweeked.   Just a bit.

Now it's called Sweet Soul Sickness and the lyrics and music are completely different.   Now it's even MORE irrisponsible than DUI, but since nobody is on the road now, it's okay.    A rolling punk rock party where if you die, your corpse is just thrown out of the car and everyone else keeps rolling baby.

I think it's safe to say this now as there's a release coming up and the songs coming out are still showing as Warner/Reprise

Good for them they'll have a lot more freedom and they earned it.

Or maybe they will go with That Dude-ish album title "Mother Of All Fatherfuckers"?

How would their career have looked if they had complete freedom before?

Would the world of Green Day be a completely different place?

Has Billie been wanting to wear crocs and Abercrombie and Fitch this whole time but it didn't fit with their image?

Wow, I also thought about this title independently. Maybe it is too obvious. I wouldn't like that title. Enough of fucking. Anything that comes from Billie's inspiration is fine. With no falsetto.

It's going to be American Idiot continued, where Jimmy ends up working at Dunder Mifflin.

The musical landscape will be inspired by Billie Joe's solo sound, as well as other projects mentioned like the Wallflowers and Jewel.

Big Star Wars-style orchestra's will back the punk band.

Weird, Old Jazz and Ethiopian music.

and the return of Green Day member, Lady Cobra.

Maybe some of the other guys from her band as well.   They're not busy.

The Long Lost Hove:   A Story that Takes place in a Town called Graffitia!

I'm about to go work on some album art now.

Two Green Day records in the same year?

Could it be?

The Trilogy is considered one project, so this is a first.

This is going to be an extremely long couple of months if we’re taking this thread this direction again
