I have actually been loving it, but also hoping that Mike and Tre aren’t to the point of only going through the motions when they have to. If they really felt passionate right now they would be doing something from home to contribute, even if it was something small.

Yeah, I hope they still are enjoying this, for their own sake and also ours, but at the same time I’m not worried, because as long as Billie still makes music (with Green Day or solo), it’s fine

I’m thinking the reason that they just don’t feel like involving right now too. I don’t get why they didn’t share any single thing  to show their support for Billie though. I don’t think they had to but I think Billie could already share his new song ideas with them and they’re all now looking forward to get back together and work on them asap. I guess also in the last interview Mike mentioned they used to always get together to practice a few times in a week but now they don’t do that anymore too cause they know each other as a band members well right now and also in terms of their different roles in the band etc. but Billie has always have a solo side and I always think it’s because of his endless passion and the desire for music, So it’s even like an addiction most of the time. Mike and Tre even said they’re amazed by that even though I’m sure they still have that kind of passion but some things could change in time and with age imo but I think things are fine for them in terms of the band’s new music and the upcoming ones. No matter how successful they’re considered right now, I feel like they’re satisfied with themselves as a band maybe more than ever now

I didn’t want to tap into this but since we’ve started talking about this - I wonder if they just seem kind of unenthusiastic because they’ve been doing this for so long or if there possibly are/were some personal tensions.  I don’t mean it in a oH nO gReEn dAy iS bReAkInG uP way, but more as they’re like “whatever, do what you want Billie.” I mean, I’d like to know how it’s come to it that he’s reached this level of creative autonomy in the band. He’s always been the songwriter but now he’s putting out stuff he’s done on his own so that’s a progress.

And yet, Billie seems to make sure he's always introduced (and listed) as Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day.

I don't think there's anything to worry about.  It's just hyper Billie being bored and, well, hyper.  And Mike and Tre just being more laid back.

This exactly.  I’m not worried or anything, it’s just something I’ve been observing too since the end of the RevRad tour when they seemed a bit at odds over where to go next and Billie went off to do the Longshot. They haven’t really seemed like a cohesive unit since then.  (And that was weird in itself since they came off that tour so fired up and eager to do more).

I had thought that once he went his way and got it out of his system they would come back together with a new focus but the apathetic attitude to this new album cycle and his continued solo projects (despite the pandemic) just reinforces this idea that they are struggling to hold it together. I think they will but I believe there is likely more that goes on behind the scenes than we know about.

It’s not like there isn’t precedence for this, they nearly split over it once before in the late nineties when it got to the point where Billie was afraid to bring songs to them because they’d criticize but contribute nothing. They came to an agreement that he would keep them in the loop more and they would try to step up. From those ashes rose American Idiot, a true collaborative project. But since then it seems like they’ve gradually fallen back into old habits and now Mike and Tre both admit that their process is they wait for Billie to bring them completed demos and they record their parts and that’s it. That’s fine if that’s their process but there was a time that wasn’t healthy for them as a band.  I’m not sure what it means for their future but they seem like they’re having less fun now for sure.

You put it into words better than I have. It’s seemed they’ve had this process set at least since the trilogy (we know there are Billie-only demos for this album, not sure about the previous ones), but now it just seems odd, for whatever reason.

I think it just boils down to Mike and Tre really enjoying having the amount of down time they do, especially with young children. Where as Billie doesn't want to slow down and wants to work on music as if it were a full time job. I've gotten no indication recently of any turmoil within the band, it seems to me that they all still love being in Green Day and love doing their own things during the off times. But even then, they'll still get together and have band practice running through their classic records for fun or play surprise Coverup shows.

Since it’s airing on so many channels and platforms in the United States, I was planning to capture both a web stream and a radio broadcast. Though with any luck, a HDTV or Satellite Feed recording should pop up as well.

Yes bass players can work cameras you're right, playing live over the internet is difficult. Not impossible but a faff so could understand why Billie would just do it solo

Like others, I was surprised by its success too. I was talking to my aunt the other day who doesn’t have internet but I guess she caught a rerun of the late night show or something cause she heard it and told me she loved it. I was surprised (especially since on top of everything she said she hates covers lol)

I'm glad ITWAN gets success cause I honestly think his covers are very good and feel like most people genuinely think like that too as someone commented on YT video that Billie could make any song sound good, he really meant it imo but I thought they could put this song on streaming services cause it is copyrighted now so you can't upload it everywhere like other covers of him but it could be because they've started playing it on radio too, not really sure about that
