They would've played more on the tour. There's only 10 songs on the album lol, and playing singles when appearing on TV shows is standard. Billie said in an interview that they wouldn't play other FOAM songs on the tour. Just the hits. 1 hour ago, Hermione said: How can we judge properly when their promo was halted prematurely by covid though? I don't get why people act like there aren't unprecedented circumstances going on this time around. There was complaining before that Billie was doing stuff alone and that they weren't promoting the album during quarantine. It's like....this is a unique situation. And they also have a new management company. I really think some people are just projecting their feelings about the album onto the band Promo ended way before COVID shut things down. I don't count the HM tour as promo.

Because of course they're going to play hits on a "hella mega tour" co-headlining stadiums with two other bands, it would be pretty pretentious to pick that tour to do a deep cuts setlist lol. They enjoy getting the crowd going with hits anyway and shows like that aren't the time to deviate from that. Maybe they would've played some other smaller shows or done other appearances that allowed them to play more of the songs. But like there's only 10 songs on the album anyway, a decent percentage of them will be played live. 1 hour ago, Beerjeezus said: This is funny to me since I was one of the few people on here who loved the album. I don’t dare imagine what people who disliked it are thinking Fair enough . I still don't get where the "Green Day doesn't care about the album" thing comes from though, just didn't get that vibe from them.

CocaColaX
It’s been a long week this week, with no Monday release. ☹️ Even though we got ‘extras’ last week.
greendepent
Leave deep cuts for South American shows. Hella Mega won't be different than the RevRad tour in setlist terms What I see possible, is that Green Day will be playing something of this covers. Mainly ITWAAN and Manic Monday. It will be a good break from Knowledge

BillieJoe’sEyelids
There’s no doubt in my mind that the guys weren’t super excited about FOAM, and there are so many reasons for feeling that, which I didn’t believe at first but now do in retrospect. I mean they literally took the COVID shut down as an opportunity to bury FOAM. They could have put out more singles but they didn’t. I think that says a lot. I don’t think it indicates that GD is in trouble. Actually I’m starting to believe the idea that it was a way to finish off their contract. Which to me indicates that they’re looking forward to more freedom and spontaneity, even if they stay with Warner. One question I have in my mind...in one of the recent radio interviews Billie said he’s doing covers because it’s easier than writing songs. So is he done writing songs for the next album or is he just choosing not to do it?

You doubt yourself every step of the process. It’s a toll. Mentally and physically.

Popular Post jengd
I can never believe that people think Green Day or Billie Joe are being lazy, I can’t imagine where you even begin to write a song far less a whole album and surely people understand he’s being self-deprecating when he says he’s lazy when he clearly isn’t. Billie loves rock and roll, he’s said it often enough and there is plenty of evidence, it’s not hard to see that he just thought he’d cover some of his favourite songs, I’m just glad he’s sharing them! 4

He mentioned a few weeks/months ago (geez the last three months are just melting into each other ) that he wrote a bunch of new GD songs as well, we had Butch Walker saying that he’s getting ready to produce a new GD record. I don’t think he’s doing NFM instead of something else, he’s just using it to keep himself busy and give something to his fans. In the end, composing new music is not a 9 to 5 job with scheduled tasks, not at this creative stage at least. I don’t see this as “stealing” time from something else. 17 hours ago, DookieLukie said: Promo ended way before COVID shut things down. I don't count the HM tour as promo. Beerjeezus
the fact that he’s recording covers doesn’t mean he stopped writing. He could be recording songs he knows as a way to have a break from a more demanding work on his own stuff.

His quote in the interview, although I’m paraphrasing a bit , was that he decided to do covers because it’s easier than writing songs. Now he was either BSing and he is also writing songs while doing covers, or the songs are already done for the next album. That’s what I was wondering about, I’m not sure why you took this as a negative question. 44 minutes ago, Beerjeezus said: the fact that he’s recording covers doesn’t mean he stopped writing. It doesn't mean BSing, he was being asked in regard to the No Fun Mondays releases so he could easily just mean it's easier to do covers than write songs for that. Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with whether he's also currently writing songs for Green Day.

You asked why he was doing covers INSTEAD of original material. simple answer: he wants to. It’s fun for him. It’s a break from the mental strain of creativity. as I stated before, creating is not a simple task. It is hard. You push yourself to uncomfortable places and you have to break from that in order to not go insane. (Im speaking as a creative/from experience)
That Dude
What song could Billie be working on today? Mystic Knights of the Cobra? Neil Young? A Country song perhaps? The Macarena? Or another really cool deep cut from a deep band? He could go ultra deep and cover a local band that hasn't had success. That would be really amazing for them. I might send Billie some lyrics and see what he can do with them. 1
