They have both been released under both BJA and Green Day artist profiles.

Yeah, I just edited my post.  I'm sure it was just Billie previously.

It wasn’t. When ITWAN came out it was under both the same way.

When have they ever played anything outside of their singles when initially promoting a new album and the songs they're releasing from it? They would've played more on the tour. There's only 10 songs on the album lol, and playing singles when appearing on TV shows is standard.

Billie said in an interview that they wouldn't play other FOAM songs on the tour. Just the hits.

How can we judge properly when their promo was halted prematurely by covid though? I don't get why people act like there aren't unprecedented circumstances going on this time around. There was complaining before that Billie was doing stuff alone and that they weren't promoting the album during quarantine. It's like....this is a unique situation. And they also have a new management company. I really think some people are just projecting their feelings about the album onto the band :P

Promo ended way before COVID shut things down. I don't count the HM tour as promo.

That is not what he said. He said they would play a few new songs and then the “favorites”.

It’s been a long week this week, with no Monday release. ☹️ Even though we got ‘extras’ last week.

Leave deep cuts for South American shows. Hella Mega won't be different than the RevRad tour in setlist terms

What I see possible, is that Green Day will be playing something of this covers. Mainly ITWAAN and Manic Monday. It will be a good break from Knowledge

There’s no doubt in my mind that the guys weren’t super excited about FOAM, and there are so many reasons for feeling that, which I didn’t believe at first but now do in retrospect.  I mean they literally took the COVID shut down as an opportunity to bury FOAM. They could have put out more singles but they didn’t. I think that says a lot. I don’t think it indicates that GD is in trouble. Actually I’m starting to believe the idea that it was a way to finish off their contract. Which to me indicates that they’re looking forward to more freedom and spontaneity, even if they stay with Warner.

One question I have in my mind...in one of the recent radio interviews Billie said he’s doing covers because it’s easier than writing songs. So is he done writing songs for the next album or is he just choosing not to do it?

Could that it’s easier because he already knows the songs.

Being creative is not easy. You doubt yourself every step of the process. It’s a toll. Mentally and physically.

I realize that, but why is he spending time on covers instead of songs for Green Day? We’ve heard from an insider on here that there will be a new album pretty quickly. Does anyone think it’s already written?

a huge project I’m working is behind schedule because we had push back photography due to COVID for the last 2 months. It’s print date is June 12. I’m at the panic/all the work while crying stage right now.

the fact that he’s recording covers doesn’t mean he stopped writing. He could be recording songs he knows as a way to have a break from a more demanding work on his own stuff.

Because he wants to? Because he finds it fun? Maybe he’s waiting for creative moments to write?

Why does there have a some underlying reason for him playing music he wants to?

why do you do the things you do on a daily basis?

No need to be defensive. His quote in the interview, although I’m paraphrasing a bit , was that he decided to do covers because it’s easier than writing songs. Now he was either BSing and he is also writing songs while doing covers, or the songs are already done for the next album. That’s what I was wondering about, I’m not sure why you took this as a negative question.

That’s one possibility.  Also it’s possible that he’s tweaking the songs he’s written.

It doesn't mean BSing, he was being asked in regard to the No Fun Mondays releases so he could easily just mean it's easier to do covers than write songs for that. Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with whether he's also currently writing songs for Green Day.

You asked why he was doing covers INSTEAD of original material.

simple answer: he wants to. It’s fun for him. It’s a break from the mental strain of creativity.

as I stated before, creating is not a simple task. It is hard. You push yourself to uncomfortable places and you have to break from that in order to not go insane. (Im speaking as a creative/from experience)

What song could Billie be working on today?

Mystic Knights of the Cobra?

Neil Young?

A Country song perhaps?

The Macarena?

Or another really cool deep cut from a deep band?

He could go ultra deep and cover a local band that hasn't had success.  That would be really amazing for them.

I might send Billie some lyrics and see what he can do with them. :)

There is a particularly awful bluegrass cover of the Macarena.

I hope he does that one.
