The Green Day Out of Context Game: Pandemic Edition

It’s been a while since we played a game on here and I think we could all use one. I was just listening to American Idiot and was surprised how relevant some of the lyrics were to what we are all going through right now, even if it wasn’t the original meaning of course and it gave me the idea for this game.

Take any Green Day lyric from any song out of context that applies best to the current situation. Be creative, be obscure, make it funny, anything.

Here’s a few examples:

”Where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself, and where will we all go when it’s too late?” (Letterbomb)

”Looking out my window for someone who’s passing by/No one knows I’m locked in here all I do is cry” (Pulling Teeth)

You get the idea. If nothing else it will get us all to listen to more Green Day and interact so have fun. 🙂

Dad came up with "Wake me up when the virus is gone" the other week.

Edit: I'm surprised it took so long for someone here to mention ”Where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself, and where will we all go when it’s too late?”

I've got nothing to do
So I just sit here patiently
Watching the clock tick so slowly
Gotta get away (DON'T)
Or my brains will explode
Give me something to do
To kill some time

Haha yeah that’s what gave me the idea. Sorry I had to claim it before anyone else did 😜

I actually was working on a Coronavirus Playlist this week and had several Green Day songs on there.

Junkies On A High:

"Subdivision smile
Drink it in, dumb it down, suck it up

As we watch the world burn!"

Father of All:
"I got paranoia, baby
And it's so hysterical
Crackin' up under the pressure
Looking for a miracle"

Oh Yeah:

"Ain't it funny how we're running out of hope?"

Sugar Youth:
"All hell is breaking loose and heaven only knows"

Forever Now:
"If this is what you call the good life I want a better way to die"

American Eulogy:

"Mass confusion is all the new rage
and it's creating a feeding ground for the bottom feeders of hysteria

Hysteria, mass hysteria!"

@JardyOfSuburbia Yup, those lyrics in Father of All and American Eulogy have been going through my head constantly the past couple of weeks.  Along with red alert is the color of panic elevated to the point of static in AE too.

I was alone
I was all by myself
No one was looking
I was thinking of you
