Guest
Dropkick Murphys just announced that they'll be doing a show and stream it for everyone since they too had to cancel. Honestly it's starting to piss me off that GD can't do the same. They were supposed to be on tour right now, why won't they give us something? I just don't get what their problem is lol. jengd
I don’t think there is a problem as such, I think they have just stood down and gone back to normal life until they can start the tour. Looks like Billie is at home buying puppies, Mike is home gardening and Tre has been in Catalina Island for Sara’s birthday. 😀
Guest
My point is that doing shows is their job and they know damn well that thousands of people have been looking forward to it for a very long time. Obviously they can do whatever they want, but just saying 'fuck it' and not give the fans anything at all is so weird to me. Of course they can't make up for all of the shows but them doing nothing just sucks. They were supposedly looking forward to the tour and while doing a live stream wouldn't be the same, they'd at least get to play and make a lot of people happy. Again; I just don't get it. jengd
I see what you’re saying and don’t completely disagree, I wish they would do some live-streams and well done to DKM for their plan, I just don’t think it means anything sinister is going on with them. Also, the tour + new album were announced back in September. (Even if we still don't know what's going to happen with it) European tour starts at the end of May I think they have both time to relax and living their "normal life" and to do something such as a livestream

It's still possible that they'll do something though. I think when the European tour gets cancelled (and I'm 99% sure it will), maybe then we'll get a "ghost concert" via live stream. jumpsalty
Lol doing shows is not ‘their job’ and they don’t owe anyone anything. By the sounds of it, they’re doing what everyone else has been recommended to do - social distancing, (that includes from each other!) staying home, riding it out. They’re not immune, they can catch this thing like anyone else can

But you can still do a livestream this way 😁 51 minutes ago, Thatsername said: I think when the European tour gets cancelled (and I'm 99% sure it will) "Sad" to say this but me too. (Of course I'm more worried about people health rather than a tour so I'm not just saying "Oh I'm sad because the tour) It's seems now other eu countries are in the same situation of Italy a couple of weeks ago. So if the situation gets bettere in my country, we don't know how the virus will spread elsewhere.
RedundantIdiot
I'm sorry to be the bearer of more potentially bad news, but West Ham- who play their football matches at the London Stadium- have an "overriding priority" over other events at the stadium. All professional football matches in the UK are currently off for at least the next three weeks. If the football season here ends up being completed in June and July, the Hella Mega gig at the London Stadium (June 26) could get cancelled so that West Ham could fulfill all their remaining home fixtures. Alternative solutions which wouldn't effect the gig include the entire football season being written off and declared void, or the season could be declared complete after 29 out of 38 games with teams' current positions declared final, or the season could be restarted and completed in time for the Hella Mega gig. Also a lot of footballers will be out of contract with their current clubs on June 30, therefore those players will object to the season restarting in June if it means they risk getting seriously injured and not being able to join another club. More likely to get moved to another venue or pushed back. Football will take priority in the decisions and I think those games that have been postponed at some point will get played. That Dude
Every concert ticket could come with a bio hazard suit. And take place in an outdoor field where each person can have 50 square feet to themselves. Ah, screw that. Lol. Maybe this is a good year for virtual concerts. Put on a VR set and we all go into the matrix and see a customized setlist and can make the guys in the band do WHATEVER we want them to. Even you, sickos. It's all possible. Nah, they don't owe us anything and can do whatever they want but I'm still disappointed they haven't announced some way to make up for the postponed shows. Of course the most important thing is to stay safe and it is absolutely the right decision for both them and everyone else to not go on tour right now. I am so disappointed that I have lost motivation to do anything at all. I had been looking forward to this moment all my life and now I have hit a god damn slump where I don't seem to enjoy anything at all. It sucks how the band is just silence about all of this, putting out a statement through the management is not enough, imo. They also started refunding the Singapore and Bangkok tickets even before announcing new dates which doesn't give me much hope.

At a minimum it would take nothing for Billie himself to just pick up a guitar and livestream a performance from his house. He’s done that before. It doesn’t have to be formal with techs and equipment and it would mean the world to everyone stuck at home and missing them. Sorry but reposting fan covers doesn’t do it for me, as exciting as it is for the fan if it’s yours.
solongfromthestars
Obviously they don't owe anyone anything. I'd rather they stay inside than potentially spread the virus, even amongst themselves. However people can be upset about cancellations despite understanding why they're necessary and that their disappointment isn't the end of the world. There's always someone who has it worse (eg. even if a loved one dies of coronavirus, there are entire families of refugees drowning), but it's still unpleasant for people to be stuck at home with everything they looked forward to gone. Hoping Green Day or any artist might do something to tide them over is understandable.

They also started refunding the Singapore and Bangkok tickets even before announcing new dates which doesn't give me much hope. I’m really sorry to hear this, man. I’m worried about this happening to me too — not just because of Hella Mega, but because of a variety of things being canceled. After a year of relying on meds to get me through a random spurt of clinical depression, my doctor and I started weaning me off them this month because springtime is usually when I’m the happiest (it’s sunny and warm out, concerts, baseball, daylight) and it just so happened to coincide with the goddamn apocalypse this year. I don’t want to turn back now and start taking them again but if I’m shut in my house indefinitely and working like crazy covering this pandemic (I’m “the media” everyone hates but keeps turning to for information), I don’t see what choice I have, really. And when I talk about being sad that the MLB has postponed spring training, or that I’m worried I won’t get to see Green Day, or that the St. Patrick’s Day party I go to every year was canceled yesterday, everybody freaks out and acts like I’m being insensitive. But I’m not saying taking these measures shouldn’t happen — I’m just saying it fucking sucks. This will impact everyone differently and that doesn’t mean someone with concerns about their mental health instead of physical health is somehow not valid. I’m very worried about older folks who are already pretty isolated and maybe rely on public places for social interaction, and people with anxiety disorders and how all this hysteria is affecting them. As someone else already said though; there are things they could do that doesn't involve going out in public. They play shows in exchange for our ticket money. If they can't play we'll be refunded, or will get our money's worth when they reschedule. Just like they wouldn't expect us to send them money or do anything else for them even though they're not playing a show for us, we can't expect things from them when they're unable to play due to circumstances beyond their control and we're not paying them. It's not their job to do anything for you for free, every single thing they do that you don't pay them for is by their own choice and not owed. The only thing they owe is a refund or a rescheduled show. This sucks for them as well, they don't get to play and if shows aren't rescheduled they'll lose out on a boatload of money. Playing a show to livestream involves more people than just them and they might not even want to take that risk. Perhaps they're thinking ahead to how they'll probably still be doing a gruelling tour that takes the same amount of time and energy, just later, and getting in some downtime while they can since they can't do much else. People are allowed to be sad about shows being cancelled but that doesn't mean the band has something to make up to us. 2 hours ago, solongfromthestars said: Obviously they don't owe anyone anything. jengd
The band and associates also have their own extended families to think about too, elderly and young family members to take into consideration. It is looking like a pretty rubbish year so far though. Hopefully it dies down quickly and soon.
