I think for me it’s the way people do it that matters. I have no issue with people who say “I don’t like this” or “this just isn’t my thing”, since I get that FOAM isn’t for everybody and is definitely a different sounding Green Day album.  But it’s when people say “this is bad” “this sucks” “lazy writing” “nonsense” as if they’re stating a fact that I get annoyed with (the suggestion being that there’s something wrong with you if you don’t agree with me).  Saying you don’t like something is a subjective opinion not an objective truth.

I could not agree more. If everyone could acknowledge differences of opinion and learn how to argue their opinion instead of personally attacking others, this forum and this world would be a better place. :)

Seriously though, I am also middle of the road on FOAM. I think it has a lot of deep songs even if some of the sound is not my favorite; "Fire Ready Aim" and "Stab You in the Heart" are the only two that I really don't get. But I respect GD's right as artists to try new things and do what makes sense to them.

Just like with Dos, Tre and Revolution Radio, the promotion for this album slammed on the breaks, leaving me not knowing if the era was over or not.

It seems like Green Day just can't catch a break.   There were legitimate reasons for halting promotion of the Trilogy and Father of All, but I'm not sure about Revolution Radio.   Is that way Green Day got fed up with the record company?   Maybe.

Father of all deserved one or two more official singles.

Perhaps ALBUM 14 will get a longer era and 10 singles like Green Day deserve.

Or maybe Green Day will do like they did with trilogy songs and drop some revamped singles from Rev Rad and Father of All.

I DON'T WANT TO FREAK YOU OUT BUT I CANNOT LIE.

I DON'T WANT TO FREAK YOU OUT BUT I CANNOT LIE-IE.

school is just for suckers.

Listening to this album tonight and it is amazing.   I was at my dad's earlier and he was showing me XM radio on his roku.   He found a Green Day interview and of course the first thing Billie Joe says is the title of this record.   My dad just turned to look at me with a look of disgust, haha!    I said something as we chuckled like "yep, that's what they called it."

Decided to listen to foam music video and oh yeah. Couldn’t even finish them. So generic, boring and it just sucks for me. The only ok song is graffitia for sure. No fun Monday is way better and more pleasant to ears

I want to take some time to listen to this album and American Idiot together.

Maybe blend the tracklists into one wild ride.

They have more in common than Whathername's hand, I'll tell you that right now.

Ya know.. Father of All.. has one of the best music videos. Few come close in my opinion.

Yeah I was thinking this not too long ago, I think I have been enjoying the videos from this album more than the music itself.

As for the best though? I have a very soft spot for 21st Century Breakdown and the way it uses the album art to tell the story. RevRad had some really damn good videos too, and that's not even counting the official music videos.

The music videos from this era actually were decent, I agree with that. I felt like after American Idiot the GD music videos weren't anything special.

21CB didn't have great music videos and I thought the Rev Rad ones were just average.

My fave GD music videos will always be the ones from Dookie, Insomniac and select ones from AI.

The 21CB video itself is really cool though the rest aren’t particularly special although Billie looks very hot in them but I’ll not turn this into another fangirl thread 😀

I found this interesting video of a DAD reacting to Green Day on Jimmy Kimmel Live (2019). I found it interesting to see someone who HATED Green Day - and HATED Dookie in the 90's - dig Father of All.

To me the song has some pretty generic rock riffs, but to others it's probably more like their cup of tea. It isn't pop punk & that's probably the appeal to some observers.

Haha “ and the lead singer, he hasn’t changed a bit in like what is it...” 😂😂😂

He likes FOA, fine, so do I, but why should we care whether he does or not?!

I guess for me it's been a while since I heard anyone from the 90s era hate Green Day for the reasons they did. 😂 I was surprised. Green Day is praised in ALL my circles these days. I almost forgot how grunge rockers & metal fans hated them in the 90s & 2000s. For petty reasons ofc 😋

Well, the year is nearly up and Father of All still stands as the greatest album of the 2020.

There was a lot of great music, but none of it could topple this weirdo giant.

The only way this could change is if Green Day drop another album in the next couple weeks.

I don't know if its already been said on here but I found out recently that Stab You in The Heart featured first on the musical "These Paper Bullets" that Billie wrote music for years ago. It's cool how he just plucked that song out of that production and put it on a Green Day record. He wrote it after all! Quite a few Longshot songs were originally on that musical too. It's definitely interesting to see how worlds within Green Day's world collide with one another. ☺️
