Father of all Motherfuckers - What are your thoughts on the new album?

I've seen a lot of comments about it but I don't mind the effect on 'cra-a-a-awl' in TTMAC. I'd rather be without it I guess, but honestly I've listened approximately 2 million times already and I don't even hear/notice it unless I purposely try to.

I actually love all these weird details, including the crawl effect. And that intro to the song, man it’s like the violin before peacemaker, loved it since the first listen, I love it more and more at every listen.

First listen on the turntable now. If my vinyl is not skipping (please, please, please don’t) it will for how much I will consume it. Did I mention how much I love this record already?

I think is a foxboro hot tubs EP (with better production) with plus three Green Day songs (Graffitia, sugar youth and I was a teenage...).

It could be good for a side project, but is not enough for a Green Day album IMO

I Don't se longshot vibe... For me longshot has uno and tre vibe

I would definitely argue that they put a Green Day spin and energy on it, but yeah, if there's not a credit in the liner notes (don't know yet, my copy is still in the mail), that's going to be a thing.

I just checked Billie’s SESAC repertory. Sometimes they credit writers there that aren’t mentioned in the CD, but “Father of All...” is the only new song listed so far, so we might have to wait a few months for the page to be updated. On a side note, I notice that “Knowledge” is credited to Billie, Mike, and Tre (Not even John), instead of the Op Ivy guys. There are a lot of little mistakes like that throughout their catalog.

Don't think it's a coincidence tbh

GD hates the Gillette ad too ;)

Little bit sad if they've chosen to leave songs off an album, or shorten songs, just because of one streaming services adverts.

It's not to mess with them, I think it's just more about the experience for the listener

Just seems pointless. If a listener is that bothered about not having ads, they'd have Spotify premium or buy the album. Idk just seems like weird priorities.

I never got Spotify premium cause I have a collection of 1000+ records that's still growing.

For me it's kinda pointless and just a tool I use to listen to up and coming artists tbh - especially ones that are digital only or don't have distribution

Someone just told me Green Day was dad rock, now I know they’re fucking clueless about music.

Have only heard leak quality, but I already know what's up.

Father of All is the greatest album of the century.  Hands down.  Hands up.

Forget any other album coming over the next 10 months.  This is the only one that matters.

Unless Green Day 14 comes out.

Green Day 14 thread???

I just spent the better part of 5 hours listening to the album on repeat. My assessment:

Father of all - I really dislike the bad falsetto. Other than that the song has grown on me. If he stops doing the falsetto I might actually like it.

Fire, Ready, Aim - it is perfect for what it is. It is a sound bite. It works really well for hockey.

Oh Yeah - better be renamed Oh No. I still dont like it especially since he borrowed it.

Meet me on the Roof - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. One of my favorite GD songs

I was a teenage teenager -  a yawner

Stab you in the heart - he has always borrowed but this is you broke my heart with different lyrics and title. That just doesnt sit well with me. However I do like it as you broke my heart and will continue to listen to it's original version

Sugar Youth - I have never liked Christian's inferno and this reminds me too much of it

Junkies on a high- another yawner

Take the money and crawl - I like it, even with its "resemblance" to you really got me

Graffiti - I've heard alot of people say this was brilliant. I dont really get that. It's ok. I dont dislike it nor do I like it

Overall, the album is better than I expected. I still think it is towards the bottom of their works but I dont hate it.

Poor Insomniac has been moved to last place again for me.

I don't even hear/notice Billie’s voice unless I purposely try to.

The „As we watch the world burn“ part in „Junkies On A High“ is fucking great. I can totally picture the band playing on top of a mountain as the last survivors of the apocalypse while the whole world burns down in front of them, very similar to the band of the Titanic that kept playing until the ship sank. Definitely one of my favourite moments on the album.

Just listened

It's soooo short but I love it. Digging that the songs we've already heard come first. Stab You In the Heart is hilarious . I Was a Teenage Teenager is weird. Junkies On a High and Take the Money and Crawl are amazing . Seems like they've kept going with the very straightforward, upfront and honest lyrical style of Rev Rad, only this time it's a party. More Longshot vibes than FBHT though. And there's the classic rock elements again but also much more modern indie/pop stuff that gives it a whole new feel. Loving it! Also "walk" and "cock" is my new favourite Billie rhyme.

It's a marvelous album!  The only negative comment I have is some of the muffled vocals.  There are chunks of lyrics I can't make out no matter how many times I read them, or how hard I listen.  Is that still the case on the real release?

At my 20th or 30th listen :P the whole album has really a sound of its own, totally reinvented Green Day and the level isn't lower than before. Every song is good (great!) on its own and they're all really catchy. This is amazing.  Its feels like a blessing to be a fan now!

I love more and more Junkies on A High and Take the money and Crawl, I keep putting those two in repeat. Stab you and Sugar Youth are the less enjoyable for me, although they are a lot already. Meet Me On The Roof and Teenage Teenager are the most emotional, a bit melancholic and beautiful overall. The chorus in Teenager is just . And the way Billie sings oh-uh-oh! in Meet Me too, gosh I love when he does that. Lyrically, all the album is full of great stuff. On-point lyrics, relatable, strong, and sexy!

My friends and my girlfriend aren't "fan" of Green Day but overall they like them.

And they think that this album is pretty good. So it made my day :)

next: Hella Mega.
