MaxGD
Am I the only one who was digging the singles (excluding fire ready aim), but when I heard the full album something just didn’t work. Like on the first listen I was on a new music high, and now I havnt listened to the album since release day. I think a lot of it is attributed to not liking a lot of the lyrics, and feeling like it doesn’t have the feel of the band at times. Like I get and totally respect a sound change, but there are very few times where the drumming is like recognizable as Tre and stuff like that. Idk, I’m not hating on the album by any means, but I just havnt felt the need to listen to it again.

Okay, yeah it sounds like a car commercial and has a lot of clapping but nearly every FOAM track has the clapping. FRA is a banger! It's better than Junkies or Roof. Imho. It's faster than Junkies or Roof. I'm serious, I'd really like to know what's so boring about FRA

Popular Post Albelint
I've reached the point where i don't care as much anymore. People tend to forget that time passes, they're still comparing Green Day as if they were the same people who made Dookie or American Idiot but they can't be. They've been together for more than 30 years now, they're almost 50! People grow up, people change and to me Green Day were always supposed to be much more than just a punk rock band. Would you rather have a band that tries something different or a band that keeps making the same music over and over again? Nothing wrong with either of the two but Green Day have always been the first case. I don't really mind the new album, i don't love it and i don't hate it. There are a few interesting songs and who knows? Maybe in the future i will rediscover some of them like i did with the trilogy. The effort they putted on this reminds me of the latest NOFX albums. Fat Mike clearly said: "We didn't try really hard but people still like us, so...cool!" They're well aware this isn't nowhere near their best albums, but at this point in their life they just want to have fun making music, they don't have nothing to prove to anyone. The big question is how can a punk rock band get old?

That Dude
Hey, a reviewer that loves the album! She likes it better than Revolution Radio, is in love with the album cover which is a bit insane, but okay. Pretty cool.

That Dude
Anthony Fantano said that "Junkies" sounded like someone was trying to recreate "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" but they hadn't heard it in 15 years. I didn't agree. But now I'm playing it on guitar and it's the same chords, and I can't make it NOT sound like that song. Dang it.

Yeah on acoustic is sounds similar but the melody definitely is different along with the other instrumentation.
That Dude
An acoustic version of "Junkies on a High" should replace "Good Riddance"

That’s what I love about being a guitar player- when you play the new stuff you always catch cool/ interesting similarities in riffs or progressions with the older stuff or material from other artists. It makes sense given the derivatives tracing back to the blues and other foundations of rock/ punk. I’ve always found it remarkable that even amateur players such as myself never run out of ideas when songwriting- after all, how much can you do with six strings and twenty two frets? A lot apparently. End of tangent. Anyway, back on topic sort of. The album is fun to play on guitar, after Oh Yeah was released I was afraid the “new sound” wouldn’t translate to guitar playing fun. But most is guitar driven and it’s a blast to play.

Yeah I noticed it the first time I heard the song and knew that was going to be the case for me, but there are are a lot of songs that use this very same progression on the album, it's one of my major complaints about it to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I've grown to love Junkies, but it's just weird for me coming from RevRad which was at least 90% original melodies and going to this which is what 10-20% original melodies? 2
