I like them G, D, A and C chords, know what I'm sayin? If I see a B chord I'm running. If I see an F, I play a C and keep on rocking in the free world, ya know? I feel like I'm really getting to KNOW you guys this era. No matter how you feel about the album, I feel like I've made some real friends on here. I wish I knew Green Day fans in real life. This is probably the most fun I've had on GDA out of all the era's we've been through. I joined during the Breakdown Era. Oh Man, I went through some things THAT year. Welp, going to see what new Green Day chords are to be found while rocking out to Shenanigans, which we all know should have been released as a studio album. Don't feel bad. Despite it being one of my all time favorites, I still can't understand Billie on some of the cuts. But yeah, no mama in that one. Start with a C# minor

( wonder how SHE feels about THAT song!!!!) His wife has a ton of songs made for her, probably some we'll never hear, think about that. But what about his kids? I'd like to hear a really sappy, sweet song to his sons. One that would really embarrass the crap out of them. Jakob kind of got a shout out on Baby Eyes with "they say my middle name is Danger". And Billie claimed Brain Stew was about being kept awake by baby Joey, although I'm not sure how true that actually is lol. Plus "class of '13" refers to Joey's graduating year. For now they'll have to make do with that! 2

Redundantuserjinxboy
Teenager grew on me quite a bit. Went from being a 5 to 7 for me. Lyrics are kinda dumb and I wish there was a few more to speak of....but I'm on board with it. Junkies is poppy as hell and I hope green day never make a song that is straight up pop like that again, with that said I still like the song. Its groovy as hell, the chorus is catchy af too. "Rock and roll tragedy, I think the next one could be me" is the most telling line on the album. So my ranking after letting this album marinate: 1. FOA- 7.5/10 2. FRA- 7/10 (was a 6.5) 3. Oh yeah- 6/10 (was a 7) 4. Meet Me on the roof- 7/10 5. Teenage Teenager- 7/10 (was at 5) 6. Stab you in the heart- 7/10 (was at 8 ) 7. Sugar Youth- 8.5 8. Junkies- 6.5 9. TTMAC- 8 Graffitia- 8 So very solid album as there really are no skippable tracks, though there arnt any true classics either. Just a bunch of good ones. Overall I'm giving this album a 7. 1
Popular Post DookieLukie
Observation I just made: I got a copy of the CD and the booklet has silhouettes of dancing women throughout the background of the pages. They look just like the FBHT women from the videos and album cover. Just more signs of FBHT influence in this record.
solongfromthestars
This CD rip of this is ridiculously quiet. I added all the songs to a playlist where the only songs noticably quieter are by The Replacements, but this is much worse. I can use the digital download so it doesn't matter but if I'd just bought the CD in store, I'd be annoyed.

It's funny I don't really think the album sounds very Foxboro-like though. Even though it has the rock n roll/60s vibes it feels more Longshot or just Green Day doing rock n roll than FBHT to me. Every time I hear "hanging with the cholos" it reminds me of when Aaron Cometbus described Billie as looking like a "sleepy cholo" and said the first thing he did when Green Day made money was buy a lowrider bike like the local Latin gangs had lol. Also the concept of Billie using the word yeyo is hilarious.
jengd
Agreed, but the dancers as silhouettes like that is not new, Elvis did something similar with Jailhouse Rock, although that was prisoners 😂

Popular Post Thatsername
Not sure if this was mentioned before (it surely was😄), but what I love a lot about the production of this album is that some songs have really strong and prominent stereo effects (is that even the correct term, lol? I have no clue about sound production, but what I mean is the effect that the voice or instrument seems to be on just one side or they flow from one side to the other when you listen with headphones). I especially love this on Graffitia. Some of my all-time favourite songs have a lot of those effects (like Locomotive Breath by Jethro Tull or Money by Pink Floyd) and I just love that because it doesn't just feel like you listen to the song, but you're inside of it somehow. If that makes any sense😍 Well done Mr. Walker.
Popular Post pacejunkie punk
To me this album is a collection of everything that Green Day has always done best. I think their two rock operas were really outliers and their true sweet spot has always been power pop punk — bright catchy melodies with a heavy dose of dark themes. This album hits that mark for me. I’m glad they’ve left the bombast behind and done this. It incorporates all they’ve learned with years of being Green Day, but also the best aspects of the Network, FBHT and Longshot. Some of these songs could have been on any of those albums. It’s become my favorite sound for them. 6

And because of that suddenly people felt that should've been the new normal and it put a lot of pressure on them to match that success. For me, it feels like with this album they finally realized they don't need to match that. That not every album has to be this epic thing. Not to say their other albums didn't feel genuine, but they sound like they're having a blast ( ) here.

I missed so much hearing it through a radio stream (the one Billie talked about the songs on). SO good. Shondells
First full listen completed - loved the production after fearing I wouldn't (FOA left me bit cold when released, but grew on me with time). Favourite song currently is I Was A Teenage Teenager. Sugar Youth has that almost classic GD vibe. Thanks to those that pointed out the Hippy Hippy Shake thing - was driving me mad knowing there was a comparison in there! Do agree with some that other songs should've been considered singles - FRA and OY are weaker offerings to me, but guess they play to a broader crowd marketing-wise. suffoKate
Parental Advisory: Party Animal Post incoming. Ok, in true "Father of All..." fashion, I partied up with champagne, vodka, and ganja late last night. After the others had gone to bed, I jammed the album in my headphones. Father of All truly sounded like a concept album where Billie Joe had different characters narrating each song. More like Network, less like A.I. though. He changes his voice up so much on this record. It sounded truly epic. I think he captured something truly special. Listening to it sobered-up just sounded like a short collection of mini-songs, but under the influence it just POPPED, yo! Haha! It probably is a party record for me. 9.5/10 when baked. I'd give it 10 if it were a tad longer. All in all, I think this record can be approached in so many different ways and state of minds that each time will be a unique experience. I'm thinking about getting a vinyl. Anyone have a favorite edition of the vinyl?
