The album isn't that much different than what GD have been doing for the last 10 years with the exception of a couple experimental tracks but then you hear people saying that this album is the worst thing ever. I know people can have their own opinions and stuff but for people to be like "Omg this is the worst thing ever, this is like a 0/10" is just dumb imo and a ridiculous overreaction THIS. Fuck the haters. Have you seen the reviews from fantano and ARTV? Can't stand those guys. Seriously, I feel sorry for people who listen to music to hate it. What a miserable life you have. I don't give a fuck what everyone else say, this album is a BLAST. And I will rape my ears this month. I have mentioned before, that Green Day doesn't owe us shit. Actually, after listening to this beautiful album, I feel like it is ME who owes them. P. S. Has anyone also noticed that emanating unexplainable magical freedom from this album? It's like Green Day has taken a deep breath of a fresh air. Of course, there are some problems with this album, like Christian's Inferno! said. And one of them is that it is too short

Popular Post Hermione
The little Pinhead Gunpowder lyric reference in Graffitia (life during wartime) brings me joy Also now we have "Don't wake me up, don't wake me up" vs "Wake me up when September ends", how will it play out next October 1st? 4

Popular Post Hermione
I'm listening to the album on repeat right now. In a way it's kind of cool that it's so short because you can fit in so many listens lol. My favourite songs are Junkies on a High, Take the Money and Crawl, Stab You in the Heart and Graffitia. I love every song but it's pretty awesome that my favourites are at the end so it keeps getting better.

Sixtrix
This is the first Green Day record in a long while that I can actually enjoy with headphones on. I really love the production. Green Day, please release more of this!
Popular Post Hermione
I'm really enjoying the falsetto and high singing in general on this album. Glad Billie went for it. Like even just in the verses of Fire Ready Aim (which is such a banger btw), the aggressive lyrics in that high voice is awesome. And all the spiteful lyrics like that (knock your teeth out to the ground you're a liar, I wanna stab you in the heart, you can take a walk or you can suck my cock etc) have such cool old school GD vibes, reminds me of Nimrod. Everything about the album is so good . My love for Green Day was just reinvigorated again.
Popular Post jengd
Still got many pages to catch up on but basically I love it. Not original thinking here but it’s fresh, energetic, fun and great to dance your ass off to and I just had it on repeat in the gym, great there too. Still can’t decide which my favourites are but particularly like (ignoring the first three) STYINH, JOH and Grafitti. I like TTMAC but would like it better without the Star Wars effects 😂 and don’t like the start of TT but like the end. One of them, still learning them, has a great descending bass towards the end which I love it but I wish Grafittia didn’t fade but all these things are minor, it makes me smile. The fade does make me wonder if there is more like this coming soon, it’s not something they have ever done much so perhaps I am attaching too much importance to it. I think the lyrics are great throughout with some real Billie gems, “drink it in, dumb it down, suck it up” good stuff and his deliver is great in many places, aggressive in the right places, burrrnnnn 😍😍. I bought the CD and has anyone looked at the spine if they have it, it is the same AI. I think this is actually AI.2 in some ways. It feels to me that in the early 2000’s we had optimism, everything wasn’t great but people cared, and were working together for betterment, or at least trying to. Twenty years on, although we are all trying so hard to cut back on hate speech, racism etc we seem to be so divided and feeling helpless and hopeless. The incredulity we have for what’s going on makes us just throw our hands in the air and look inward, “my pride is my pornography” to me is the most exciting thing I will do today is take a selfie and think how awesome I am. Everything is out of control so you may as well just party and dance. I don’t do selfies personally but I’m off to do more dancing 😂 Edited February 9, 2020 by jengd Addition 4
Popular Post solongfromthestars
I've listened five times now. In general, I love the lyrics and I'm even tempted to analyse line by line like we used to on GDC. There are some real gems in there. They're incredibly dark but hidden by Billie's signature catchy misery. That "rock 'n' roll tragedy" line is just heartbreaking though. Musically, of the singles, Father of All grew on me after seeing it live and I always liked Fire Ready Aim. Oh Yeah is OK but I can live without the sample. I love Meet Me on the Roof. That's probably my favourite. I also really like Sugar Youth and Take the Money and Crawl. I think Stab You in the Heart and Graffitia still have some growing on me to do. Teenage Teenager sounds better on headphones but I won't be adding it to any playlists. I still don't like Junkies on a High. So now I'm just like 4 2
Popular Post jengd
Meant to say, I’m hearing a lot of Mike and Tre and Billie/Jason in all the mix and I love it, they sound on fire and like they are showing off their skills a little. Also, according to the liner notes Blackheart Records own all the rights to the sample, so looks to me like Joan Jet bought Glittter out, possibly years ago.

I think that, being a sample, GD will have to pay JJ and her label for the rights of that portion of song, and then they are the ones who have to give part of that money to those holding the original song credits. Might be wrong tho.

And one of them is that it is too short I think no Green Day record has ever been collectively destroyed by critics. In fact, if you look at Metacritic (yeah, they suck, but at least it gives you an overview), all of their studio albums have received mostly positive reviews. The thing is that negative press usually gets more attention and it's fashionable to hate on popular artists. I'm not saying that it's not ok to criticize Green Day, but the perception that their newer releases have mostly received negative reviews is simply wrong. Fantano is just pretentious, in my opinion. He doesn't like them, so I don't care about what he has to say. To be fair, I think the guy from ARTV is actually a massive Green Day fan and gave the new record a 3,5/5, which isn't bad at all.

Think that's a generous review as well, can't label him a hater. I can understand Fantano's views and criticisms but they are sometimes too harsh. He looks at everything through an underground lens, which is fine, but not really relevant to Green Day. They aren't going to be making edgy, fresh music, they're in their late 40s.

However, I think ARTV's score was the highest of those youtubers, which is still less positive than for most of us here. Which, in general, is kinda disappointing. I want this album to be appreciated for what it is. Right now it's an 8.4/10 for me. Well, I guess we will see? FOAM could be remembered as a good/great album in a few years. It somewhat happened with the Trilogy. 🤔
