Stewe
After listen to it for 4/5 times, I can say that I'm impressed with this album. There's not a single song that I dislike, I think Oh Yeah and Junkies On High are the weakest. Regarding the production hat off to Butch Walker and Chris Dougan because listen to the album with headphones (I started listening to it via Virgin Radio special and then the CD) I'm hearing little details even on FOAM that I don't listen without the headphones A weird thing is that I've the same reaction listening to Teenager for the first time as I've listening to Pasalacqua. Both are great song to me but the repetitive lyrics turn me a little be down

Popular Post Bakabanas
Ok, so I wanted to listen to this album somewhere in May, because I wanted to wait and hear it under the influence of psychoactive substances, made for better music instrospection. BUT, to me, Green Day is like quitting smoking - you swear yourself to quit, to do something else, but then 5 days pass - and you are chain-smok.. listening. Same happened here - I used the substances now. So this is my report. I hope you will enjoy this: 1. I went by the river near where I live in my city, among the trees, to wait for everything to kick in and set-up. I was afraid, because of such low expectation I had set for this album. I didn't want to dislike it. So I was scared shittless. And they had so few space for a mistake - only 7 songs were left. Father Of All Motherfuckers - it kicked in, OK, I'm listening through it. It was and still, even being high, a normal 7/10. 2. Fire, Ready, Aim. Also a 7/10, but maybe because I knew them and listened repeatedly to the annoyance? 3. Oh Yeah! This song by Green Day standards is probably the worst from the album. 5/10. However, I was feeling anxious, because the next one was going to be the one I didn't know, and I was thinking about my girlfriend that I left at my house, because I wanted to listen to Green Day, and I was thinking soooo... 4. And then it kicked in. Meet Me On The Roof, girl. Simply amazing song. Words cannot describe it. Psychoactive substance, differently than for the previous three songs, told that THIS song HAS a soul, and it is DAMN HEART-CLENCHING. My favorite song, 10/10. 5. I was amazed how good I Was A Teenage Teenager was. Seriuosly. Fuck the haters. You don't like - you don't listen to it. This song is FUCKING GOOD. Also, by now I could hear Butch's Walker's great influence on the superb production (yes, this is one of the best, if not the best produced album Green Day has ever done), and SO CATCHY melody. This is all I want. Lyrics come second in the case of this song. 10/10. 6. Stab You In The Heart. 9/10. OK, after hearing this song, I wanted to go back to my home and a girlfriend, similarly to the lyrics I wanted to stab her in the heart so good classical rock vibes, through a Green Day lense. 7. Sugar Youth. 7/10. This one didn't "click", but what I mean, if it doesn't click for a Green Day, that means it's an amazing song by normal music standards. 8. Junkies On A High. 9/10. This was the part of my trip home where I left the riverside, and entered my house district, with many junkies vibes. So I could literally FEEL what Billie felt writing this song. Words can't do justice. But then... 9. I got the most secret, sinister and shady vibes from Billie Joe Armstrong's subconscious. This intro. It gave me chills. Again, I was impacted by psychoactive substances, so it was so clear to me. Take The Money And Crawl. 10/10. Some of the dirtiest lyrics Billie has ever written. 10. And then. Finally, I reached my home. I reached the destination back to my girlfirend. I was looking at the rooftop while coming back, and just thought, "thank you, Billie, for making this album and for making this day amazing". Meet Me On The Roof, my girlfriend. In the suburbs of Graffitia. 10/10. I love Green Day. 3 1

Actually I don't even want to know lmao that sounds cracked Sugar Youth is still 💖 tho! I know you don’t want to know... but I really love this song and I want to give my interpretation As I read the lyrics (which I love by the way), the overall meaning is explained in the first line: “What are the symptoms of our happiness and Civil War?“ To me this song is about an interior conflict, either literally about love (I don’t want to be a Rome as the romantic icon), or about a more existential feeling towards the state of things (Romeo drinking the poison because he thinks Juliet is dead). Depending how I chose to read this, the rest of the song changes. I prefer the existential version In this case the rest is a in interior and exterior fight (Mano y Mano) resolved through wildness, dance and music, struggling to find a cure. The dangerous feelings, and the voices inside his head. Taking the line you quoted in the context of the whole verse: “I'm hearing voices up inside my head (Oh, what you thinkin'?) I need a sugar fix, it's making me sick (Oh, what you drinkin'?) I wanna drink all the poison in the water I wanna choke like a dog that's on a collar I am the child of coyote and bandito I'm drinking whiskey by the river doing yayo“ This is a list of masochistic, extreme, violent reactions and desires as a result to that conflict, the hell that is breaking loose. Dark, beautiful shit if you ask me. In the context of the record this is also the transition from the rage of Stab you in the heart to the beautiful desolation of Junkies on a high. Not rage, but not even contemplation of caos, more like escaping self destruction “dancing to something wild”. These are the emotions it gives me at least 3

Not rage, but not even contemplation of caos, more like escaping self destruction “dancing to something wild”. This is the emotions it gives me at least I honestly have a similar interpretation of the song, kind of like the existensial scenario you described. I really love this song too, I nearly burst into tears the first time I heard it hahaha What "I don't wanna be a Romeo" means to me is that the narrator doesn't want to kill himself for something material in this world, or give into his romanticized demons and let them consume him. The song is dark and about living dangerously, from a dark and chaotic mindset, but as he struggles to live dangerously, he's telling himself that he doesn't want to give in to the world of unknown death yet. He's gonna keep fighting. Yes he wants another fix and he's drinking whisky by the river screaming heyyyyy ohhhh (I know, apparently it's doing yeyo but I've always heard "screaming heyyy ohhhh.") but he knows he doesn't wanna be another Romeo. Not a tragedy. He'll keep fighting. I see it as a very dark Still Breathing. Ok I'm sure this isn't what Billie intended. In no way is this related to anything that he said about the song, if he's said anything about it at all hahaha. But it's how I see it and it makes Sugar Youth a positive nugget in the dark pocket of FOAM That being said. I should say that I was mostly being facetious and lowkey wondering exactly wtf BJA himself intended by that line lol because it's so bizzare/sadistic. 21st_century_gloria
Why am I hearing Victorious songs in everything? There was a Magnum Opus track that sounded a lot like a Victorious song and now I'm convinced that the chorus of Stab You in the Heart sounds like Take a Hint from Victorious

Popular Post Christian's Inferno!
I have some problems with this album but holy shit the overreaction by some people is ridiculous (I'm not just talking about reactions here but just generally). The album isn't that much different than what GD have been doing for the last 10 years with the exception of a couple experimental tracks but then you hear people saying that this album is the worst thing ever. I know people can have their own opinions and stuff but for people to be like "Omg this is the worst thing ever, this is like a 0/10" is just dumb imo and a ridiculous overreaction 9
That Dude
Shazam has completely correct lyrics to the album! Also, the lyrics to "Graffitia" go on long after you can hear them, which is kind of cool. It's basically the lost love / last forgotten part interspersed with the first verse, I believe.
