Hide contents I see this an evolution, in the correct way, of sounds they have been playing and working on in the last 10 years. I do hope this will be the case in the future, and I don’t see anything wrong with it. This record doesn’t have one sound, it has 10. They could apply this approach to any rock sub-genre that influenced and characterized them during their career. I would love to see the FOAM approach applied to a song like Fever Blister for example. Nothing excludes that in a few years they will release a new straight forward, back to the basic, punk record. But honestly I would prefer to see more of this, at least as long as it produces such results. Only my personal opinion of course.

Popular Post greenalert997x
IMO foamf is more consistent in terms of mixing / song structure than revrad. I like the vocal is a bit hidden behind the instruments. It's much dirtier. On revrad songs like SB and OW don't match the rest a bit. And the mixing is kind of uneven. On trilogy the vocal is very polished and dry and it's in the foreground, guitars are hidden behind. So I really appreciate their new sound.

It’s really a pleasure to listen to it on any form, but when I shoot this from my sound system it’s really a delight. I am so happy for the consistency and quality of the work behind this.
Gonzalo17
After one week listening and trying to digest this EP. Mi reviews and ranking are: 1) Graffitia: the most Greendayish song of the album. Only problem is that is to short. It has a vibe for being longer and it could be in Magnus Opus of the inglorious Kind. Epic chours. 9/10 2) I was a Teenage Teenager: The other song with some epic and Greendayish vibe (only in the chours). 8/10 3) Meet me on The Roof: good song for easy radio listening. The funiest song of the album. 6,5/10 4) Oh Yeah: Strange song for Green Day, but I like the prechours 5,5/10 5) Sugar Youth: the most punk song of the album, but without any epic vibe. 5,5/10 My feelings about the other 5 songs aren't good. I see them like skip songs, but I will try one more week... I needed time for like most of revolution radio (nothing to do with outlaws, say goodbye and troubled times... they will die skiped in my list) 1

I like most songs on FOAM and I definitely want them to evolve and explore new sounds, even if I don’t necessarily like some parts of the outcome. I was more referring to the general vibe and attitude, the „fuck it all, we don’t care about anything, let’s party“. That can feel fresh, fun and interesting for a while, but I sincerely hope this won’t be their artistic approach for the next 10 years. I hope one day they’ll start caring again.
That Dude
I forget, was there an uncensored cd or just vinyl? I was a little bummed about the censoring with my liner notes and want a copy where the pink lady isnt blocking my view of the C and K. What a butthole. Wait....could that be Whatshername?????? Holy crap look at the final picture of her in white! I think that's the girl that broke Jimmys heart! Get her!!!!
101eras
After having it listen for a while now, i would say its perfect record to score under 26 mins! Every song is average and has its moments.

I get your point, but personally I don’t get a “they stopped caring” attitude. I get a “this world is so fucked up that I want to give people something to dance with, we want to create a space where they don’t have to deal with all the hate and violence”. That’s caring to me, just in another form. But I get your point, they are pulling out a rock n roll badass attitude, which is fun and entertaining to me (I take it as entertainment, I mean Billie still is also the dork posting videos of Lenny on IG). But I understand you might prefer another approach, everyone relates to these guys differently Anyway when Mike talks about this record defining their sound for the next 10 years, I think he talks primarily about the sound and not necessarily the “packaging” of it. It would be great to hear this also applied to more political lyrics IMHO, Graffitia is a great example of it. Who knows what the future will bring, for sure I am very curious and confident in this band after hearing this record
That Dude
I love that they had the idea of calling it American Idiot Part 2! The next one should have the Nimrod or Warning cover but Unicorned, and actually BE the American Idiot sequel!!!!! Maybe Warning, since that was their worst album cover until yesterday. Haha The next album will be something completely different. Haven't you guys figured out that Green Day are never going to repeat an album....or dissapoint us....ever?? Well, I guess if you WANT a repeat you will be the later. Go listen to AC/DC. Where is that site you can look up song writing credits on? This is driving me insane. Is this basically a solo record for Billie? Without writing credits I assume all lyrics by Mike Dirnt and Jason White. And Gary Glitter. IrelandCalling
Haven't posted I think since RevRad but enjoy the GD theology nonetheless on a regular basis. Like ThatDude I purchased the CD and felt that yeah, maybe CDs are cool I still buy CDs of favourite bands as I do love the pictures, liner notes, the whole tactile physical package. Heard the leak, listened to the CD; granted its early days but I found it underwhleming. Not because it isnt AI or 21stCB but because the melody writing simply isnt as compelling or imaginative as their best. RevRad I thought was very well done with some supreme tracks that stand proudly with the best, FOAMF feels lightweight albeit with some stonkers. Meet Me on the Roof is wonderful, bloody brilliant. Great melody, catchy and compelling. Sugar Youth - man oh man that is the stuff! Graffitia - more of that fine stuff baby! Title track - yes, almost as good. But filler abounds, most others - so far - seem decent but uninspired. However, this is only a few days in. I'll be back in a week to add another two cents. Could be a grower, we shall see... Miko
I have listened this album close to 30 times already and goddammit it's so fucking good. Much better than Uno and Tre, but not as good as Dos (which is my favorite GD album of all time). I'm glad that they went for more experimental sounds and wrote better Fuck Time (not only the riff from chorus is the same, it has once same verse riff and that solo is fucking dirty!) which turns out to be my favorite from the album aswell. There are no songs that I dislike nor skip straight away, but gotta say that Sugar Youth and Meet Me on the Roof are the most forgettable songs. I disliked Graffitia first but it turned out to be okay at the end, I just wasn't fan of ballad section in this straight-forward album I guess. I don't understand why people dislike singles tho, they are really strong and most importantly GOOD. Final rankings: 1. Stab You in the Heart - Best song in album and best song in general since 99 Revolutions. I'm fan of garage rock and Dos so this wont generate any controversy when I say this song is ten times better than whole Revolution Radio. Those riffs, solos and outro speaks for themselves. I cant stop jamming to this god fucking dammit! 2. Fire, Ready, Aim - I absolutely love this. I don't care what people thing, this song is such a fucking banger. Chorus is really catchy, I love the main riff and lyrics are straight-forward. Nothing to dislike about it, it's great! 3. Father of All - Same story with Graffitia: First I disliked it but in FOA's case I grew up to love it. Live perfomances turned out to be as good as studio version is. 4. Oh Yeah! - Oh man, I've been singing way too many times already EVERYBODY IS A STAAAAAAAAAAR past 2 days. I love it, best single of the 3 even though it's actually ''worst'' song in general of those 3. 5. Graffitia - Not a bad song at all. I love chorus backing vocals so much and overall tempo on this song is fucking great. Great closer for this album. 6. Junkies on a High - Never would've thought that Green Day releases song like this. Absolute thing of beauty and I'm not really fan of these chill songs in general. JUNKIES ON A HIIIIIIIGH and WATCH THE WORLD BURN are great lines and they sound so good. 7. Take the Money and Crawl - YOU CAN TAKE A WALK OR YOU CAN SUCK MY COCK speaks for itself. Great song. 8. I Was a Teenage Teenager - Intro is not my favorite but I get big Wild One vibes from this song. Placing this song straight before Stab You in the Heart was great decision and it feels natural. Not bad at all. 9. Sugar Youth - Even though I like Ashley vibes thing song gives to me, chorus is too forgettable. Lyrics are fine but overall the song feels big meh. Haven't paid attention to lyrics so this opinion might shift. 10. Meet Me on the Roof - I love falsetto on FRA and FOA but in this song it feels forced. I like to listen it when I listen full album but this is the only song that I won't add to my playlists It's not a bad song, this is just clearly the weakest one for me.

HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
On Side A I’m starting to have pretty defined preferences. Meet me on the roof, Teenager (I’m in love with the progression of this song and its production, delightful), and FOAM are on higher spot than Oh Yeah! and FRA. Side B is still uncharted territory for me, at every listen I have a new favorite. Stab is really the best take of this band towards this sound, the best of the experimentation the band did with FBHT and Dos! merged and raised to the next level by an awesome tune. Really loving and dancing the shit out of me at every listen. SY just fucking rocks, every time I lower my guard on this and it blows me out. Best chorus Green Day wrote in a fucking long time, and also in this case so much variety and great execution of iconic sounds of this band. Junkies on a high is quickly becoming another of the all time favorites for me, the way lyrics and music meet each other in this one is wonderful. My new favorite song for “high” reflective moments, every time “as we watch the world burn” kicks I throw up rainbows. If I was a teenager, I would try this out with a water bong. Take the money and crawl is such a unique and beautiful song, chaotic hell and distortion that I would have never expected from this band at this point of their career. This is the song where everything comes together sound wise, and is so fucking great. Kudos to Butch and Tchad for this, putting that together In such a freaking good way is not an easy task. All of this and still sounds so much like Green Day, and the lyrics have some of the most iconic moments of the record. I am currently melting down listening to Graffitia, no more words are really necessary for this one.
Popular Post TimmyChunks
I am both a massive fan and at times their biggest critic, I guess those two things go hand in hand. I’ve been a bit more of the latter the last couple of months, as I hadn’t been giving this album the benefit of the doubt for a multitude of reasons (production, concerns about the approach and vibe given the underlying dynamic with Warner, etc.). I hadn’t ever been this apprehensive about a new release, and I’ve been a massive fan since Dookie. I first listened to the album front to back last night using my great headphones. I was grinning ear to ear halfway through Meet Me on the Roof and it didn’t stop until the end of Graffitia. I won’t get into a detailed review here, there have already been plenty of those. But for this longtime fan (26 years), I am happy and super excited about getting to know these songs and enjoy this era and tour. I should’ve known better- they haven’t let me down yet and apparently aren’t going to start now. Very happy with it. Does it have the same impact on me as 21CB or Nimrod/ Warning? Not yet, and probably won’t, but that’s ok. It’s a hell of a pleasure to listen to, and for that I’m grateful. My weekend just improved substantially knowing I’ll have a chance to get to enjoy this. 6
Flashback
I‘m in love with Take the Money and Crawl, so energetic and powerful and cool mixing of the guitars. Sugar Youth is also very interesting, there are many references to old songs in it (some of the lyrics, some parts of the melody)
Sixtrix
So I just listened to FOAM for the first time, on Spotify. The Green Day UK store totally screwed me over with the 1-3 days delivery which costed me €20 extra, and it still did not get delivered and god knows where it’s at, cause the status was last updated on feb 6. So I wasn’t in the best mood. Anyway I thought it was time to go check out the album. Fucking love it. Im not going to add more words than that. I’ve read a lot of reviews here that were just spot on. Well maybe these few words then: They completely changed their sound on the new record so I did not expect the music to get to me like this. The reason I’ve always loved Green Day is because their music and lyrics always made me feel like I wasn’t alone. It really did help me through a lot of tough moments. Graffitia just made me cry man. The sound of it and the lyrics just fit with how I’ve been feeling lately. Just get that damn cd over here already. I want to fucking play it until it burns.

That Dude
Green Day inactive at moment - GDA is a ghost town. New album coming - lots of comments and reactions, communication between us. New album released - no one sees posts because there are 4000 posts a minute. I love that sweet spot in the middle. Father of All is the best album to come out in 70 years and you all know it! But go easy on those servers, guys $
