I think it wouldn’t be hard to translate but it looks kinda blurry, couldn’t read the sentences 😕

I google translated the ones that I can read for now lol

“I hammered my skull against the wall in search of inspiration, for the sound that should make up the album.” (Billie Joe Armstrong)

“Father Of All Motherfuckers is a defining moment in our careers like Dookie or American Idiot.” (Mike Dirnt)

It’s not something we don’t know but yeah:

Green Day is undoubtedly one of the best bands in the rock n roll history.

I love this band and I love Mike but I do sometimes think if Billie said, “let’s all jump off this cliff” Mike would say “great idea, I’m getting a really good feeling about this” 😂😂

That's how the trilogy came to be  Jk, but it does seem to me that everything depends on Billie because when he gets a bad idea, then lord help us all, the band isn't going to stop him :D

The band has a habit of making dumb statements about their music. But it sounds like they tried very hard to get out of their comfort zone on FOAM. I'd imagine they needed a change after so many years. It'll be cool to hear the finished product and see if they succeeded.

Scans are too blurry, even for a native speaker😂 I just ordered a print copy (mainly because of the cool pictures😍) and I'll let you know if there are some things we haven't heard yet and I can translate them. It'll take some days to arrive though.

Ugh okay, so the magazine arrived and I read the article, it's horrible, so it's not worth translating the whole thing. The writer has a very weird and negative attitude towards Green Day, maybe because he was pissed that his interview with them was cut short. It was planned to take place in Madrid the day after the SWMRS boys had an accident and Billie left the interview early because he was still worried and somewhere else with his mind (which is totally understandable for me), but it looks like the interviewer didn't like that.

Most parts of the article deal with a ride through the band's history, and the summary of it is: Everything GD did after American Idiot sucked and had no heart and soul, they live on their "feel good"-planet and have nothing important to say anymore. And regarding the new record, he says: "You should leave it in the record store next to its predecessor Revolution Radio" 🙄

The only other parts worth mentioning are:

Mike said that FOAM will "very likely be their defining sound of the next 10 years" (Oh dear Lord, help us!).

The interviewer had a phone call with Billie later and asked him if he's still sober and Billie said: "I was sober for five years, then I started drinking again now and then, a glass of wine with friends or some beers. So no, I'm not sober anymore when it comes to alcohol."

Apart from that, nothing worth mentioning. I wish I hadn't read that, wasted life time😕

Oh, that’s really bummer. I thought it was an interview that has opinions of the band about the record and stuff. I think some journalists are not really thoughtful. There is nothing to get pissed off when your interview was cut short and they don’t always have to show their displeasure to readers. So, I hope we can get some more unbiased interviews about the record eventually.

Thanks for the recap. You know I totally forgot about the timing of these interviews from Spain, but now it makes total sense that Billie seems distracted and unhappy in them. I take back everything I said about the video interview in the other thread and any other ones that come out from that week. I remember now he was worried about Max and the boys so of course.

And at least this puts all the debate to rest about his sobriety I’m glad he answered that honestly. The one good thing to come out of this interview confirms what I had known from other sources - sober five years, sober no more.

What an asshole you have to be to be pissed at Billie for how he behaved.

Oh wait guys, I flipped through the magazine again and on one of the last pages there is a FOAM review I hadn't noticed before, it's written by a different editor and it's actually pretty good. I don't have the time to translate the full text right now but maybe another native speaker can, the key message is: "FOAM finally is the party record they promised us back in 2012 with their unsuccessful trilogy", every song has "at least one great moment", it's "diverse and entertaining - you wouldn't have thought that they are still capable of it". He says that the "terrific" Meet Me On The Roof could have been a big hit in Indie-clubs in the early 00s, Stab You In The Heart is "pure rock'n'roll not even the Foxboro Hottubs could achieve", Sugar Youth is a punk-song that reminds him of She's a Rebel and he describes Graffitia as a "stadium stomper". His summary is that "They still have a tiny bit of American Idiot in them - the artwork is an indication for that. FOAM doesn't have the explosive power of AI, but Green Day clearly re-discover their joy."

Here's the full text:

Awesome, thanks @Thatsername! Putting all the reviews together it really sounds like my expectations can be fulfilled.

Thanks @Thatsername for giving us a summary of the interview, as said above, I had totally forgotten about the timing of this and of course it would have a big impact on Billie, how could it not! Re the sobriety, I too am glad someone asked and he answered what appears to be honestly, hopefully without the drug element he can keep that all on the level.  As @HAPPY ROOTING UNICORN said, I would add that they were lucky Billie appeared at all.

I was excited before, I refuse to write off a whole album on the back of a couple of songs, although I do quite like the three we have heard I don't see them making my favourites list, but I am more excited the more reviews I read!  I have a long history of looking at GD albums and the singles and just thinking "why"! 😁

I didn’t know he was sober five years and I think it’s quite an achievement for him and proof he managed to keep it under control cause it must be hard but there is no always black and white, he could realize that in time.
