"Oh Yeah!" Single

HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN

Recommended Posts

Way different from all GD songs. I think that even FOAM is more greendayish.

I listened to OY twice and I don't know if I like it. On the one hand this is something new and fresh for Green Day, but on the other it's pop, like milions of songs you hear on the radio. I mean the melody and rythm line is very generic

No loud guitars, no rock and roll punch at all

Wouldn't be problem

But they've been describing foamf album as if it was pure, stripped down rock and roll. We got 3 songs and I can't scoop much of that rock and roll craziness out of these songs. Maybe first single (I got paranoia, baby... )

But

First thought: not so good, not so bad

This is not pop. Everything that isn’t straightforward and hard-driving guitar/bass/drums is not pop. Everything with effects is not pop. You guys need to get more creative in your complaints.

Green Day cannot keep doing the same thing over and over. I am SO happy that they went the experimental route instead a variation of what they’ve done in the past. Exactly what I was hoping from them.

You're technically right, but come on, this does have a more poppy or at least processed sound to it. I mean sure, Billboard's recent "rock" lists also follow your exact logic of stretching the definition of rock into oblivion, but I'm just not going to start calling Imagine Dragons or Coldplay rock, even if they will.

To be fair, this isn't outright pop. I'd say it has a more retro glam-rock sound to it, with some occasional pop elements, but it's certainly not as rock as most of Green Day's catalogue.

The problem also isn't calling the song pop or even different. The problem is if going pop or straying from the classic formula Green Day formula is viewed as a negative per se, which it doesn't have to be.

On repeated listens the song is alright, but it drags on a little too much for me. I'd say better than FRA, worse than FOAM.

I’m now in the listen on repeat phase and it’s growing on me so fast. Of course here you can really hear the genre fluidity Billie was talking about in the interviews, and one can dislike it, but they realized it magnificently IMHO. Kudos to both the band and Butch.

It's way more interesting than Fire Ready Aim that's for sure

But not more interesting than Foamf I guess? I didn’t listen it yet but love Foamf

Oh yes.

This song wouldn't bother me at all if it were on an album that was already full of bangers. Like a nice break from several minutes of high energy rock music.

Also, interesting that they've released the first 3 songs of the album (in order). Maybe the second half of the album is vastly different than the first half? (Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part )

Sure hope so. Haven’t heard shit from this album on my local radio yet. Maybe they’ll play this one 🙏

this song fits right into the type of stuff they play on the station here.

Not sure what to think about the song. The bass parts are cool. The song itself just seems somewhat of an interlude on the album..

The vocal line and phrasing is cool but this has got to be like a tease for a song coming after it on the tracklist.

sad, what green day has become

They're just trying new sounds *shrugs* I'm sure some of the other 7 tracks will have more of their "sound" if you will.

Oh really? Over here one of the biggest rock radio stations has played both FOAM and FRA a lot so far, I even heard FRA twice one day😂 I'm not sure if they will play Oh Yeah though. I think it'll be too poppy for them 😛

I'm okay with them evolving their sound and changing things up. In the end it all comes down to writing a good song. sadly the new ones are all not very good.. at least in my opinon
