Not sure what's going on with quoting but there seems to be an issue where you can't edit properly and seems like I quoted the person twice. If a mod can log this as a bug for us to resolve when I buy the forum that would be appreciated. I promise to all you GDC'ers I'll fix the issue.

I'll buy it with you.

Not a fan of this song, but I'm curious how it's going to sound live....

Well I can't imagine too many guitar players being a fan of this one 😂

I'm curious as well to see how this is handled live. They have a large band in live situations so it won't be difficult.

It may sound a lot better live as they'll play it faster. One of the criticisms of the song so far has been it's tempo.

Green Day accidentally released what FOB was planning to do. It's not a big deal because they're just two divisions of the same company

Except GD has what FOB doesn't have. The charm. The allure. The nutbar highschool dropout of a frontman.

When you look at Billie it's as if he just dropped out yesterday.

This is a bad song

I respect your opinion but you should maybe elaborate a little bit as we're discussing the song and our reactions to it here.

Just saying it's good or bad isn't providing much except that we know how you feel about it.

Not gonna lie, really didn't like the song yesterday. It's been in my head all day and I'm actually kinda vibing with it. The music video helped make the theme more tangible and the chorus is actually pretty catchy - like the other singles it took a little time but it's grown on me

Calling this pop music is just silly

Objectively it does hold pop elements. It samples a Joan Jett song that also has pop elements. So by default it's already there.

*me catching up on the thread*

Seriously, it's fine people don't like it and expected better from GD. It's fine that people love it and really dig the lyrics. It's unnecessary to treat opinions, whether good or bad as fact or put down others who hate or love the song.

I didn`t like the song for being Green Day, but i dislike it less tan FOAM and FRA... Oh! Yeah! at least has Billie Joe's voice. Hope there's an epic great song in the other 7 of the album, at least one, for rescue this era...

Flaccid! That's the word I've been searching for to describe it. My body tenses up the whole song waiting for a release that never comes. *insert sex joke here*

Listening to it in sequence with the other singles (tracks 1,2,3 on the album as the officially leaked back cover reveals) it brings the raucous fun-time train to a screeching halt. It may perfectly tee-up Meet Me on the Roof, and I'll enjoy it as such. But. Eh. Meh. I don't hate it. I have no strong feelings, other than some of the vocal runs Billie does remind me of Too Dumb to Die.

Speaking of Revolution Radio: I preferred how this subject matter was tackled in Bouncing Off the Walls.

I don't like being a Green Downer. Humpf!

It definitely sounds like it’s directed at Warner, that they’re the Father of All Motherfuckers and all they care about is money!!! This is their last album on their contract and this is their way of saying, “Fuck you, we’re out!!!!” This could also explain why they never mention in interviews what FOAM truly means. They’re not going to say it publicly and risk backlash!!!! The best way to do it is cryptically in a song!!!

Sure, some elements of that mindset probably came into play, but I don't think you can deny at this point that they genuinely enjoy what they're doing and they put a lot of heart into all things FOAM, whether the fanbase vibes with it or not :)

Wow that was way back, I didn’t remember what I was talking about haha
Anyway yes totally, it’s the point of SB and I think in the end it’s a good song. It’s just not my kind of song, I very rarely listen to it. And I think it’s because of that.

Someone gets it, you can see they are having fun and they seem like they are genuinely enjoying life and the music right now.

Xmas Time Of The Year is better than all three songs. That’s how bad they are. 😂😂

They shouldn’t be releasing it under the name “Green Day” then. If you go into a Green Day expecting it not to sound like Green Day then what’s the point? Everyone shifting their standards because they’re desperate to like it. Sad.

Also if you chose the best 3 Network or Foxboro Hot tubs songs of each of their albums, they are also better tan these 3 songs… And they didn,t use Green Day name on them

Still not doing anything for me, I don’t really hear the deep lyrics or musicality in the song. Don’t really get the comparison to still breathing?

I don't get the comparison to still breathing either but the lyrics paint a pretty realistic picture of the social media obsessed society that we've got. Everyone can be a star and get rich off fame, but we as a society are also more depressed and "running out of hope" it's pretty dark tbh, even the music video full of bright colors and smiles is pretty depressing and dark to me imo

Oh Yeah! May be fob-esque but they executed it better than when Fob transitioned their sound

It's got a theme similar to The Cure in a way. Dark message, lyrics and meaning but put into a format that is brighter creating an overall contrast on the tune. It can make you feel several different emotions at one time.

Yeah, while it's not what i expected (and not entirely to my taste but who cares haha)  i like all 3 songs for different reasons. After all, if they just do what the fans want, that's conformity in itself. The thing that a lot of diehards surprisingly don't realize is that BJA is a genuine fan of all music, not just punk rock. I'm pretty sure that GD would probably never make a record of songs they thought were "bad" (unless they were really drunk i guess lmao)

Also imo Oh Yeah is starting to sound like maybe it could've been on 21CB without the "Oh yeeeeeeeeah" inclusion. It's not that far off from what I expect from GD minus the lack of loud guitar/a solo i guess.
