You can read the lyrics to that song and then read the lyrics to almost every song they have released after 21stcb and see how inferior these are. It's not even a matter of opinion on something like this. And at the end of the day even the person I responded too agreed to what I said. So to you it’s not a matter of opinion to consider or not this song or these lyrics up to GD standards? All right, we can close the discussion then 😂

Eh, Just because something sounds more complex doesn’t mean it’s better . By that logic Trapped in the Closet by R Kelly is better than Blitzkrieg Bop. Which might be your opinion but it’s not an absolute fact. Some of my favorite GD songs are from the pre AI era, have relatively simple song structures, are shorter than 3 minutes, do not have an epic vibe, or existential-emotional lyrics. Your music taste is not the Bible. Exactly what I was trying to say but you said it better

matteo263
I think it's clear that the guys are enjoying music and being innovative. The sound is different to what we're used to and that should be a good thing. Why should we want them to re-hash themselves a thousand times? Green Day have remained relevant only because they re-invent themselves all the time. During the AI era people were complaining that it doesn't sound like Green Day because they were used to Dookie era stuff....see a pattern there? When I heard FOAMF for the first time I couldn't understand the direction they're going for, but it's becoming clearer and clearer and it makes a lot of sense to me! It's fresh, new, innovative but definitely still Green Day. We're free to either like or not, that's completely subjective. The quality though, is undisputedly still there! Listen to the 3 songs we have so far in sequence you'll see what I'm talking about.I'm enjoying it.

Beerjeezus
I like both Insomniac and 21CB and I wouldn't say one is worse than the other, they're very different albums one band did. What they have in common is that they're works of art that convey some meaning. It's completely different when this time around there's a song released for an ad, a Foxboro Hot Tubs single and a dreamy synthy pop single. It's just hard to wrap one's mind around that 1 minute ago, DadBod said: Off topic note, but if you haven't watch the youtube documentary on Lou Pearlman, you should. I thought it was really interesting, especially since the only thing we really knew was how he took their money. I really wish the other members would have participated, but ah well. 5 minutes ago, Beerjeezus said: The story of Lou Pearlman and how he had so much influence on music why being a literal conman fascinates me. Otis Big
He should have said “down in the dirt “and they’re also should’ve been for more lines during the last verse. I felt like it ended to abruptly and he could’ve gone on a little more to make it match the second verse along with the instrumental before that

jengd
I just listened to the three songs we have from FOAM and have to agree with those who have said so already, there is clearly a vibe going on here and I think it's very modern/current and fitting for the times. I understand that it's a bit of a leap for some and I am little surprised at how much I like myself so far but Oh Yeah! is really catchy and typical "sounds pretty upbeat but listen to the lyrics" Billie Joe style. It is clearly Green Day, just another version of them.
