If oh yeah is a 9 what is jos for example? Or restless heart syndrome? Or even older songs like One of my lies? It's like Green day have been mediocre for so long their fans have forgotten when they where actually good and Billie was one of the best if not the best lyricist in his genre.

So true - with this in mind the new song is like a 4 or 5 haha.
FOAM would be like 7, FRA 6.5?

Still listenable - but compared to those standard (and preferences of course...)

I don't know if I'd say they're the Beatles of punk rock...If they were the beatles, they would have broke up shortly after 21CB and Billie/Mike/Tre would all have successful solo careers haha.

Sometimes I have this really blasphemous idea that maybe they should have left at the top and now they could be doing anything they'd want without any regard for the legacy gd has.

I get that but at least to me, they keep making music that's interesting. Some of these other longtime acts can't even do that.

Just shut up boomer

the 3 singles are good for 2020

a Restless Heart Syndrome would sound « has been » if it be released today

World changes, time goes by and music evolves, Green Day try to adapt themselves the current context and for now they’re doing well

Good music is always good music. I enjoyed oh yeah but it's just silly to think it comes close to what the band has done or imo is still capable on doing if they put their minds to it.

I think in the world of modern alternative radio this is going to be over played.

From an album rock perspective it doesn't stick out. It seems that GD is ditching album rock right now in their strategy.

More of a shortened track list single by single approach. I have a feeling this album may feel more like a 10 track compilation of different singles.

That's exactly what I've been thinking. Maybe the throwaway album cover is another hint at that.

I agree it's still interesting, it's not that I don't enjoy their music anymore, but when I think of what projects I was most excited this decade, it were the side projects. Longshot was awesome. I loved that Billie did a country album. I also really enjoy revrad, but I have a feeling that Love Is For Losers is easier to listen to because it's free from the expectations and the gimmick that comes with a green day album and that's refreshing and FOAM would need that too.

doesn't mean it evolves for the better. Just ask the 80's.

Anyone notice every time a new single comes out Butch Walker comes out with an IG post acting like he's me out on a deck in the sun with a corona and a cigar? Must be nice to get paid in full for doing half the job.

In your opinion. Weird how other people like the tracks.

I was just saying evolution is not always for the best.

I'm 50/50 on the track. There's elements I like and things I don't like about it.

I wouldn’t say the Beatles of punk, I don’t think Green Day has ever been tied down to only punk. Punk is merely an influence of their sound. Sure some songs I would say are very punk, but in my opinion their sounds evolved into alternative/rock with punk and garage influence. They don’t put themselves in a box and that’s why I can’t be mad over a new sound that i may not prefer. I really wanted an epic sounding album like another 21st century breakdown because I felt like it was time, but all in all if I want 21st CB, I’ll listen to 21st CB. This is one band that I can honestly say has never released the same record twice and that’s one of the main reasons I love them. If we don’t like this new album we can rest assured new music will be coming out again soon anyway!

I like Tom too and there is a chance he'll release a new ava album this year but people in the forum keep talking shots at blink for whatever reason without even listening to their albums.

Yeah for sure. I do think this song will be well received outside of the fanbase. It's a part of 2020.

The selfish part of me was just hoping they'd be hard and fast GD cause I don't really wanna be a part of the purring 20's

Ya know......

Maybe the marketing strategy for this record has been correct so far.

Lots of notice for the new record , they have drip fed singles to maintain somewhat of a buzz.

And can you imagine the reaction if they released no singles and just released the album with no previews ?

People would lose their minds !!

Maybe it’s been beneficial to give people time to adjust to their new sound .

Incidentally and weirdly , I’ve been listening to the first two singles and suddenly their seem a lot better .

This kind of comment always assume that songs like JoS and RhS are the best GD songs. Which might be your opinion but it’s not an absolute fact. Some of my favorite GD songs are from the pre AI era, have relatively simple song structures, are shorter than 3 minutes, do not have an epic vibe, or existential-emotional lyrics.
Your music taste is not the Bible.

Listened to it 3 times now, and I definitely think it's the catchiest song from this album so far. It's not amazing, but it's not as forgettable as FOAM or FRA. I'm still hoping the rest of the songs will be more enjoyable than what we've heard so far though.

I listed one of my lies too. That's a simple punk rock song. You can read the lyrics to that song and then read the lyrics to almost every song they have released after 21stcb and see how inferior these are. It's not even a matter of opinion on something like this.

And at the end of the day even the person I responded too agreed to what I said.

Just listened to Father of All Motherfuckers, Ready Fire Aim, and Oh Yeah all in a row since they will be the first 3 songs on the album. I must say I'm liking the flow of the start of the album.
