My only complaint about the video is that Billie just looked like plain ole Billie. Kind of mean, and I also need to watch it again.

Flashback
1 hour ago, Bully Hoe said: Hmm I'm not sure I agree. Surely when you criticize others you should try to hold yourself to the very same standard that you set, right? This is an extreme example, but if I murdered someone, I wouldn't go up to all my other murderer cellmates like "how could you do this, murder is wrong". I wouldn't tell others to put their phones away if I, myself, don't put my phone away. It's not his job to criticize others or preach but to write music. Surely he can do it but that's not his whole thing, that's not what an entertainer does generally, except when you're a late night show host like Colbert or something like that. You don't get a "You Don't Have To Practice What You Preach"-card just because you're a successful entertainer. I know many people on this forum don't agree with me, but Billie generally has a very relaxed approach towards holding himself to his own standard and doing as he preaches. I would‘t take this so seriously. Remember Bullet in a Bible: „don‘t let these bastards dictate your life, or try to tell you what to do“. I mean that sounds quite extreme to me as well, but hey, it‘s part of the role he plays on stage

RedundantIdiot
When I first saw the video for a nano second I thought it was Frank Storm (Tre) at 0:57 And as for Billies hair anything between my profile picture and the length his hair is now is fine by me. Rumpelstiltskin2000
Article from Alt Press about the new video/single: GREEN DAY POKE FUN AT SOCIAL MEDIA ABSORPTION IN NEW “OH YEAH!” VIDEO 'Father Of All...' drops Feb. 7 Green Day just dropped their newest single off their upcoming album Father Of All… The single is titled “Oh Yeah!” and has been teased this previous week. The accompanying music video pokes fun at modern interactions due to the influence of technology. Green Day’s Father Of All… releases on Feb. 7. The previous two singles include the title track “Father Of All…” and “Ready, Fire Aim.” The video starts as a mock tutorial with drummer Tre Cool showing us how to play the drums for ” Oh Yeah!” The man watching the video is distracted and hits Billie Joe Armstrong in his car. For the rest of the time, we see numerous absurd interactions with people, all stemming from their absorption into technology. Everyone is constantly filming themselves, except for bassist Mike Dirnt, who poses as a security guard. The joke here is that he’s too distracted with his phone to notice the vandalism happening on the monitor in front of him. We see a couple share an intimate moment on a date before immediately looking at their phones again and communicating with other people about being bored or how they miss them. Armstrong pokes fun at the absurdity with the hook “Everybody is a star//Got my money and I’m feeling kinda low.” Watch the video for Green Day’s “Oh Yeah!” below. [MUSIC VIDEO OF OH YEAH HERE] “Oh Yeah! Lyrics I’m in a crowd full of angels and demons I’m looking out for the jingoes and heathens Nobody move and nobody gonna get hurt Reach for the sky with your face in the dirt Everybody is a star Got my money and I’m feeling kinda low Everybody got a scar Ain’t it funny how we’re running out of hope? Yeah oh yeah oh yeah Yeah oh yeah oh yeah I got blood on my hands in my pockets That’s what you get turning bullets into rockets I am a kid of a bad education The shooting star of lowered expectation Everybody is a star Got my money and I’m feeling kinda low Everybody got a scar Ain’t it funny how we’re running out of hope? Yeah oh yeah oh yeah Yeah oh yeah oh yeah I’m just a face in the crowd of spectators To the sound of the voice of a traitor Dirty looks and I’m looking for a payback Burning books in a bulletproof backpack Everybody is a star Got my money and I’m feeling kinda low Everybody got a scar Ain’t it funny how we’re running out of hope? Yeah oh yeah oh yeah Yeah oh yeah oh yeah Green Day says in the YouTube videos description “BTW we sampled a song from the great Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation album. One of the writers on that song is a total asshole so we’re donating our royalties from this song to IJM and RAINN.” IJM is the International Justice Mission focused on ending slavery and human rights violations. RAINN is the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network and is the largest anti-sexual assault network in the United States.

Billie Joes Eyelids
Was just reading the alt press article about the video and there’s something I don’t get....what do the gay and BDSM couple have to do with the rest of the video? Are they the example of living in the moment?
That Dude
Playing it on the tv with some better sound! Anyone else feel a weird vibe as he says "bulletproof backpack"? Like that is a big moment in the video? I feel like this song was reworked when it was retitled or something. Still, I hope the album gets weirder and weirder with each song. Also....what Mike drinking at the end? Atomic Garden??

Pansyhunter
About the music video, it kind of seems to be trying to make a "technology/modern internet fame bad" statement which has been done to death in all media in the past few years alone. Green Day music videos range from surreal and quirky (hitchin' a ride) to epic and operatic (JOS) but this just seems really boring tbh. There's no real substance and it feels like Billie just asked someone to follow him walking around town with a camera, lmao. 24 minutes ago, That Dude said: Playing it on the tv with some better sound! I got the impression the lyrics were re-worked with the particular emphasis on the phrase "Bulletproof backpack" because it doesn't really go with any other lyrics or themes in the song. That Dude
On my 6th or 8th play of the video. There's a lot of rewatch potential here. So much going on, so fast. That's the point, I believe. What were the stats of Tre Cools how to video? Was Billie writing a song in his head in front of the super market? He didn't have groceries so....maybe thinking of words thay ryhme with Rome? How come Billie looks like he just walked off the set of Still Breathing? One thing that's annoying: my text sound is in this song. Keep thinking I have a text. Better than police sirens, worse than everything else. Darn you Green Day. Now I gotta change my alert. I like that so many types of people are in this video. I feel like this song represents what FOAM is about. If this kind of song is a single, I cannot wait to hear the album cuts. They are going to be siiiiiick. Is the style of the song poking fun at throw away pop music? Or is it them having fun? It's both! It's neither! Shut up and dance to your new Green Day record!
