It’s nearing that time of the year again, and Green Day follows suit with a new cover for “Xmas Time of the Year”. With this is an official release on Spotify & iTunes!

Not just a cover, but an official release. It's now on Spotify and iTunes, whereas before it was only on Youtube. Which means I had to take down the download we had hosted here before :P

I wonder why they decided to do this 4 years later.

Maybe they just decided to do more now that they’re hot in the media again, and they’re not on a label. (Hoping this means more Pro-Shot stuff.)

They’re still on a label until the album comes out and they complete the obligations

The last album was pretty hot in the media, why didn’t they do it then?

I was hoping for a Thankgiving song, even if it was just Xmas Time of Year with a GOBBLE GOBBLE over the Christmas words. Maybe screamed by Tre Cool.

Why are they promoting this like it's a new song though? It's not even that good of a song

More bucks for Reprise / Warner??? I hope they want my money if they release Hybrid Moments cover.

It's interesting the intro contains the ending of another song that isn't present in the 2015 version.

Yeah, you're right!! I realized that today, there is something at the beginning!!

This is exactly what it is. I bet Warner is just trying to cash in on whatever Green Day content they've got before they leave, and this makes sense for right now given it's Christmastime-ish.

What does the ending sound like? I'm in class and can't listen right now, but I'm very curious about this

The intro sound like the ending of another song. We can heard a chord (or a piano note??) but it's really nothing I think.

Hm, like a crossfade from a song before it? I wonder if it'll show up on some odds and ends comp soon or something and that's what it is. Interesting little detail nontheless

To me it sounds like the fade out of the song itself. Like someone had the one song on repeat.

Can easily be that too.

Could someone put it on repeat real quick and try it to see how that sounds?

It's weird, the song fades out completely at the end but the stray note in the beginning definitely sounds like a piece of that fade out.

Oh god if the song we don't know the title of on FOAMF ends up being this song... That would be the ultimate troll tbh. I mean that would explain why there's a fade out

So, then that means this is single #3.

Haha can you imagine how this place would light up lol

Would be great to get a music video and radio play for this tune!

GDA would riot if this were in fact one of the 10 songs on FOAM.  Now, if it were a bonus or secret track, that would be pretty cool, if a little late.  Maybe a Valentine remix of the song or.....

Hey! Cigarettes and Valentines!  That would make more sense with a Febuary release!!!!!
