Green Day on Howard Stern (Sirius XM)

As always, I loved American Idiot's improvised solo and FOA in its all entirety, but did Billie Joe just sound bad during both AI and Wake Me Up When September Ends? His voice sounds soooo high and unnatural for both of those songs. I loved full band perfomance in Wake Me Up but singing wasn't good.

I thought he dealt with it pretty well really, he can hardly deny it and as they were just about to play a song, it wasn’t really the time to get into a serious discussion about dealing with sudden wealth.

He didn't deal with it badly, but some celebrities would have been enthusiastic or obnoxious about their money. It's nice to see someone being humble and awkward instead.

Love Kevin so much!
Super happy Kevin has been performing with Green Day.
KEVIN PRESTON FOR THE WIN!

I don't know what happened with Jeff but I would be very happy to see Kevin in tour with them!
(I'm already going to see Prima Donna in November so yuu)

I mean...would it surprise you :P

If what would surprise me? :P (just in case, the meaning of my last phrase was "if Kevin doesn't do that to Billie, then fuck Kevin")

That’s your third “fuck Kevin” post in this thread. Please stay on topic :)

This forum's hatred of Jeff is the modern day equivalent of "Let those of you without sin throw the first stone."

Most of the posts about it are jokes at this point and based on the pretty straightforward idea that when someone behaves in a shitty way and doesn't apologise you might not have a high opinion of them. It isn't a case of just judging someone's personal life, he chose to involve his following of Green Day fans in his bad behaviour and has done nothing to try and make amends, and Green Day fans are allowed to not like him as a result. Also like, Kevin is likeable and talented and people are allowed to be pleased to see him playing with the band. I don't particularly care about Jeff one way or the other but I think Kevin is great and I hope he stays.

Loved the interview and performance!

That is soooooo good I was hoping they’d post the video of that. And Kevin does a great job with the acoustic part.

The most interesting thing about this is that Tre is using his full setup to play Wake Me Up. Maybe will it return to setlists as live staple?

I have listened and listened and watched and watched and do not even begin to understand the noise around Billie Eilish, it totally passes me by, I just don’t get it.

There’s a good bass line in one of her songs.

That’s about it though.

Great performance. I love the guitar solo.

I thought the same thing when I watched this! It just kind of hit me. The song has never really been one of my all time favourites, maybe because it was so overplayed when AI was released, but damn this is such a good song. Howard Stern nails it: „That is some fucking riff, motherfucker!“ 😂 Love everything about this performance!

It’s the kind of song that gets more appreciation live both because of his vocal performance every time and the way you can literally see the music build instrument by instrument growing in sound until it drops off a cliff after the bridge. It’s my favorite part and it makes the song as interesting to watch as to listen to. It’s why I hope they bring it back to the set.

I watched the Whiskey show again and I also thought Brain Stew into Bang Bang had such a similar feel as Are We the Waiting/St Jimmy that it could replace it in a set. I’d also like to see Letterbomb dropped in favor of WMUWSE as an AI track.
