Yeah I guess that's the intention behind it and that's the way music works nowadays, but it's still a bit hard for me to adjust because GD albums (or albums in general) are always one whole piece of art for me. They follow a dramaturgy, even if they're not meant to be concept albums, and I love how they unfold their meaning when you listen to them from start to finish. It's just kind of sad to see that listening to music that way seems to be a dying art form and that there's no market for concept albums anymore.

I understand that and I agree wit you in some sense, I love listening to an album front to back, and I love when an album has a recognisable identity and is not just a bunch of singles put together. I love vinyls and I think they still have a meaning (at least to me) because it's one of the best ways to "force myself" to listen to an entire opera and not just a cool custom playlist.
But I would not mix the release strategy for an album with the creative input that make it an album, we will still be able to listen FOAMF front to back, and to appreciate or criticise its quality as an album and not just as individual songs. Yes, listening to 3-4 songs out of 10 before the release can ruin the first listen surprise (i like the @pacejunkie punk hulu approach for this :D), but I don't think it can alter the quality of the record in any way. And from the interviews they released it looks like there is a solid concept/idea behind this work, even if it's not a "concept album".

Amy is the worst Green Day song ever recorded. No contest.

Fixed that for you. 😉

Amy in that super cringe CSI scene was one of the worst combo ever 😁 I think there's worse fillers in the trilogy tho.

I think there would be some competitors in that contest. Someone said @Nightlife

I’d probably have to go with Makeout Party.

I do think it's weird that they would release another song while FOAMF is still making its way up the charts. They're competing against themselves.

Maybe they think this will boost both songs. The new one could reach a broader/different audience, also thanks to the NHL thing, and part of that can end up listening to FOAMF as well.

It's pretty standard for artists to release singles one after the other as opposed to waiting for a few months. It's a way to keep up with constant music releases and may be better for the streaming market.

"Fire, ready, aim," moving "fire" from last to first position compared to the normal phrase sounds like saying that we "fire" before taking the time to be ready and the caution to aim. Like you have to act so quick you can't even think. Maybe describes the current social media era. maybe also a reference to stupid deaths caused by guns landing in children's hands in the US

And "fire, ready, aim" sounds like the most sing-like order of the three words too.

So I've listened to that clip about 1039 times now. The song is catchy as hell but I suspect it'll only be just that; a fun catchy song, nothing special. There's nothing wrong with that though and the way they've been talking about this album it's what I expect. Someone said it made them think of KYE and I got that vibe too for some reason. I have this feeling it'll be a bit too repetitive but get away with it because of its short length. Those are my professional very much reliable guesses after hearing a good 18 seconds of it :sherlock:

He surely knows what he's doing, and I bet his loved ones are watching over him.

Am I the only one who finds cigarette no better than cocaine  even though so this ash was supposedly here before they came. well who cares

Thanks for that.  I had to work pretty hard to avoid all the leaks with Revrad as I have always preferred hearing an album as a whole and have realised there is no way I’m going to manage that with FOAM but this is a good way to look at it.

I also find it better to listen to the album "normally", without too many songs getting out beforehand, it's better to hear them in the course of the album, to then just re-listen to the album, until you get to know the songs, and the first knowing you have of them, is, somehow, in the way each of them came in the album.

As for them putting out songs at a certain interval instead (I don't even know if we have any confirmation of what they'll do exactly.. but it doesn't really matter to me), I guess Foam album is special as it's that short in length and number of songs, also they're doing a tour with two other bands so I understand they would want to align on what's currently done as for the singles release, publicity like, to keep the hype on for all the fans, as we're still several months before the beginning of the tour. Not a particularly comforting explanation in the regard of wiping out the album concept they generally praise a lot, they just seem to swimming with the current of the marketing for the tour, but well, it seems just logical. They do for the best and I'll be happy with new songs anyway

There is always contest as long as we're talking about opinions. :P It's one my favorite songs. Billie is so gifted for ballads, the bastard

not even taking about the musical part which I love, but only the lyrics: "we share the scars from our abandon". "what we remember becomes folklore". And "sometimes you're better lost than to be seen."

I just hope this doesn't mean I'll now have to hear about hockey for 2 years. A theme song is cool, but I hope it stops with that, because I'd rather get kicked in the balls than have to look at sports related stuff.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

WHAT?! Makeout Party is fucking epic! All three of them shine on that song. Not a great song lyrically of course, but the music and vocals are killer.

Sweet 16 and 8th Ave Serenade can cease to exist though, please.

Um...... I'm sorry you lived under a rock during previous album releases? There were 3 singles out before RevRad was released. LOL

I'm well aware of this.  I updated the RevRad thread as well.  It's like @DadBod said; they were spaced out, not released in under a month's time.

The singles still overlapped on the charts, they were spaced very close together.  Next?

LOL I See what you did there! Fuck, you're not as stupid as most people here, gooooood job.

Difference between saying you don't like a song and going on a rant about how you don't want to deal with hockey for 2 years because your favourite band wrote the new hockey anthem. Next?

And? There's lots of songs I don't care for. Doesn't mean I'm an asshole about. You act like a martyr because you don't like a song.

What song do I not like?

Have you heard of this concept that there's a forum and people post opinions on it and sometimes not everyone agrees with you? It's really interesting.

@M1KEY's opinion on most things is better though. So he wins.

I mean, if "everyone has to agree with me or I'll get angry" is a valuable contribution according to you, then yeah.

Well it's obvious you think everyone that's being sarcastic is angry so what can anyone say to you or your circle jerk.

Honestly, I'd rather you wouldn't say anything to me. I don't mean that in a confrontational way, I just really think it would be to mutual benefit if we didn't waste each other's time.
