I hate to say this, but both of these songs aren't good enough to make it onto Shenanigans, yet alone an actual album.

Like many have been saying here, there is just something about this era so far that just feels off.

I was a little harsh on this song when it came out yesterday, it’s not terrible, but it’s just.... not...Green Day? That sounds so stupid to say but I just feel like it’s so hard to connect with these songs.

Shitty GD songs from the past still felt like the guys, I still felt something that I’ve always felt when listening to anything Green Day.

Im really thinking its the vocals. I don’t think I realized just how familiar BJ’s voice was to me and it’s association to GD.

Both songs we’ve gotten so far just do not feel like the vocals are at the forefront but rather just a bunch of noise covering Billies voice (also being filtered). I think it’s disconnecting something in my mind that I’ve been accustomed to with everything they have ever put out and I don’t think the production has ever been this...poppy and noisy with so many effects mixed so improperly.

I’m struggling to connect to these songs and the vocals and BJ’s iconic voice not being on a pedestal like usual is throwing me for a loop.

To me FRA is on the same average level as FOAMF... or even I like FOAMF more.

I'm not a fan of Billies filtered voice, sounds not like him. The same think with Lights Out.

At times I think FRE is pretty good, i,t's catchy

But on the other hand I think it's just a boring pop-rock song that is trying to capture that pure rock and roll energy, but it's actually a unsuccessfull attempt. It's like a imitation of rock and roll and of course Green Day as well.

The repetitiveness, strange vocal and 'uoaah' got me bored a bit.

I'm not saying it's very bad, but something doesn't work out, also considering the album cover. I can't get used to the puking unicorn and defamed AI cover.

The whole thing is done with rock and roll manner like we don't give a fuck, but it's kind of trashy and poppy at the same time.

I have this feeling where it feels that after the little break on 1:40 of the song, there should be a bridge, a solo, an outro, another musical section, whatever, but it's the chorus again and the song finishes. It seems to me that something is missing there.

I was thinking that the chorus repeats too much at the end of the song and gets really repetitive. Maybe a bridge/solo etc. would solve that

I know the guys said it is not custon made for the NHL partnership, but it just seems and sound like that

To me the song feels longer than it actually is. Could they have made it longer by putting in a solo or bridge or third verse etc, yeah sure. In my opinion it's fine as it is though. And if you think it's to short you can just listen to it again. Just put it on repeat and it can be as long as you want it to be 😄

RIIIIGHT! I feel like some peeps on here think the people making negative comments enjoy doing so. I mean I'm sure some do but it hurts me that I don't like it. It's crazy that in my 27 years of life this is the first time they missed the mark for me. I'm actually pretty lucky to have so much old material to listen to. I know they are capable of better. Like American idiot is a pretty simple song basic structure and fantastic lyrics. This stuff sounds like crappy old alternative rock from years ago and I don't understand what they were thinking/feeling in the studio. "This is really good stuff" there is no way. Even All by myself is better. Ugh I love this band dearly hopefully there are a couple tracks I can stomach when the album drops. (Picture me crying in the dark in a corner of an empty room with an ice cream cake that has billies face also crying on it)

because you do not like it? lol

Between Father of All and Fire Ready Aim they are having fun and I think you guys do not like fun. You want the same typical formula Green Day material and that is just fucking boring! I guess it is just an GDC / Green Day Reddit thing because everyone I have been showing this to outside of here love it. This new material is obviously not up to par with American Idiot, Dookie etc... but this is not as bad as you say it is. It's fun music do not over think it. I swear this fan base is turning into one of the worst ones I have ever seen. I can not wait to see what crazy new single they put out for number 3, until then I will repeat the hell out of these songs! 😎

I can only hope so. Because I still don't want to accept that this is all we get after having waited for years.

I still think the song is best they have released past 7 years. FOA was really hard to get in to it (it still is) but this one kicked instantly and left amazing feeling when listened first time. Sure as hell, it still does. Of course, almost every song on trilogy is better, but I'm glad they finally made some music I can fucking listen to.

... but when the trilogy came out no one said it was a troll because maybe someone didn't like it 😂

I listened to both songs many times and what can I say is that I like them, they're catchy ones and, for me, they have still still rock n roll vibes.
I like the songs as I like 99 revolutions, like "I like when I want to head banging/I don't care about the lyrics/I just wanna have fun listening to them"
Hope it does make sense

Listening first two singles, seeing how they are dressed playing live and in music videos, tour with Fell out Boy, 26 minutes lenght "LP"... this is with a big difference the worse Green Day Era Ever...  It will be the first time I will not buy the new Green Day CD... Any Hope for the others 8 songs

I think that if this two first singles were published with other name than Green Day nobody would take care of them. Not bad music, but neither good... just normal music

I know you’re right, just sometimes the complaints seem petty to people that like the song.
