New Single "Fire, Ready, Aim" Will Debut October 9th

I think some of my earlier comments make it seem like I hate the track. I really don't. It's disappointing but it's still quite good. The new song has made me appreciate the chorus of FOAMF though because that's the best thing we've heard from this new era so far, imo. This song is still ok though and has a catchy chorus

I really like this song now. This song sounds really cool while driving.

P.S - I really do think that this album was made in just 2 months or something. And that, it’s just a “Fukc you Warner! We’re saving the best for next year” vibe album.

I really hope this is correct with the "saving the best for next year" mind set. This is the only explanation that makes sense in my head.

Someone at work came up to me today and told me how they thought the new song was awesome and how great it sounded. He's in his mid-50s and not a Green Day fan at all, so take that for what it's worth.

Also, as a sports video editor, this song is perfect to use for hype videos.

I doubt they're going to release another song off the album since it's only 26 minutes / 10 tracks, so it's going to be these two songs for the next 4 months until the album finally comes out? Yeesh.

I don't know. Bands today tend to release 3-4 songs before the album is even out. Wouldn't be surprised if we get two more songs before the album is out.

I think what bothers me most about both singles is that I don't recognize Billie's voice. The instruments and beats are fine, but a Billie's voice is so great normally and now its this weird falsetto that makes the songs sound foreign

Omg stop staying that. He dont use falsetto here. Only woooo falseto

The song works, that’s all. Green Day structure with no solo in the middle. “Baby got the hyperbole” is a cool line and fun to sing

Don't know Im right, but Green Day never refeered FRA as a new single, it's just for NHL soundtrack.

It’s a Deemed Single

Once the dust settles it’ll be fine I’m sure. Still a few haters but it won’t be as bad as everyone is making out. I learnt it on guitar and kind of enjoy it more, just 2 minutes of chord thrashing makes you feel different about it, depends on the perspective I guess.

I mean maybe it's not a choice by them. NHL listened the whole album and picked FRA to opening soundtrack.

I would second the comment from a couple pages back about listening to it through good speakers. I've listened to it each time through my new high resolution headphones and it sounds great. There's so much going on in the background that you likely wouldn't hear through normal or shitty speakers

It is fun and all. But after 3 years of waiting, we get is this. It’s a little frustrating. If this album would’ve come a year later, it would’ve been good. It’s just. It’s not an easy task to wait and it’s equally frustrating, when you realise that it wasn’t worth it. Sure it’s a good song. It’s catchy. It’s gonna do much more on commercial level. But it’s not worth waiting 3 years

Maybe Green Day gave them a choice from the 3 or 4 singles that they’d release, and NHL picked up this?

What were you expecting may I ask? We have to cut them some slack I think. They’ve been pumping out music on a regular basis for donkeys years and they were bound to hit a bad egg at some point. I honestly think people put them on a pedestal far above what they are actually capable of tbh, AI, Nimrod, 21st CB 2.0 wasn’t happening so I don’t get it. 26 minutes of music is a bit annoying but I believe we’ll have music sooner after this cycle to be honest.

Yeah I actually find this rockstar thing funny. It's like rappers with thick gold chains. :P The video from Madonna Inn with the models and the rolls royce would fit this vibe

My mind went elsewhere when you said chains. Never mind :P

Hook a sister up with this picture so I don't need to go searching!

I think it was a video on the coverups' instagram. Billie was filming, the guys were around a table drinking beers and there was some white powder on the table which I didn't even notice at first, but several people thought it was cocaine. I'm not a connoisseur, so :P but I didn't keep a screenshot of that. However I don't care if it was coke or not

Where was that shoot? I mean, is there pics of the boys there? I don't remember :P

I don't want bdsm models I want Billie to be the model :ninja:

What i was expecting wasn’t this, obviously. I was hoping for some quality lyrics. RR was good. The two songs that they have put, they’re good instrument wise. All my life I’ve been running from this and I thought Green Day are not like those pop stars or rappers who live for glam, then this album drops and makes me question the very basis of my liking towards Green Day. I am not saying that I don’t love them now. They’re still my favourite childhood band. I don’t care about the side projects if they loose control over the main thing. All i am saying is, the song is good, but not something that I’d like to wait for 3 years. Opinions differ, I guess that’s the only thing that makes us human

Well yes, i too hope that the next album would be an improvement over this

Like FOAM, I didn't know how to feel about this song on 1st listen, but I want to get up and dance to both of them now (if you can call it dancing :P). Really looking forward to hearing them both live next year!

I need to listen to it again because so many have said they get a Hives vibe from it and I don't hear that just yet.

This is one of the major aspects behind Green Day's success over the years. They're great musicians but there is a great simplicity in the writing. Anyone with a guitar can pick it up, live out the song and feel it as they play along.

It's really no different than your friend's dad playing Wish You Were Here at the campfire on a long weekend 😂

@Khaleesi. Confirmed by the opening band to be cigarette ash (not trying to start the conversation again, just providing the picture asked for).

It's like, yeah, you get a tour but either FOB comes with it or you go see us at a festival in the middle of nowhere, sorry there's no other opinion. :) :) :)

I actually felt really excited about buying a ticket to see them in Moscow (without the 2 other bands so), but because of financials means I renounced to it. Everybody around me was already like "no no don't go alone there" lol

Billie's Joe is weird. Sound like a woman.

I'm trying to sing the song but I really can't nail the virile growling that he does, when reaching the high notes. Doesn't sound credible! To my straight woman's ears he sounds like a man :P

The “You’re a liar” bit in the verses has some sort of “Hives” vibe, but that’s it to me. It clearly takes a lot of inspiration from classic garage rock bands like kinks, the troggs and sonics, as the Hives, white stripes and FBHT songs do as well, so I think it’s normal that it reminds people about that. But yeah, if I have to find a direct source of inspiration I would go a bit more back in time. I think @pacejunkie punk is on point hearing Elvis Costello influences as well.

This is the influence I hear, at least in the piano parts.

Makes sense since Billie has been hanging out with Kevin so much, even if it's not Prima Donna but their influences. I guess that's what Billie means by "glam"
