So... can we go back to MOOTIK theory? 😅

"Apparently" the MOOTIK theory is fake, but so is the Flat Earth Theory and there are a lot of people who believe that theory.

Ok so I still think FOA... is incredible but I'm not sure about this one. It sounds to me like a foxboro song with an annoying chorus. I think I like the verses though -- but they both sound the same, a bit repetitive. Maybe it needs a bridge.

So that was it, I guess??

This song does nothing for me. With every song that is released from this album, my excitement dwindles a bit. Maybe it'll grow on me like FOAM did but I don't know.

I think this sounds exactly like Billie, FOAM was a lot harder initially to hear Billie at all. As for the song, its ok.

I don't see how Butch can make the song go from a 0 to a 10. The song is just not good. It's generic as fuck.

In defense of Fire Ready Aim

If you don't like it don't listen to it and definitely find something better to do with your time then coming on here and shitting on it. Whatever happened to loyalty,  Like the trilogy for example, I believe that's Green Day's best work. However many people hated cuz it didn't sound like American Idiot, similar to 21st Century Breakdown, Know Your Enemy was the first single and people at first criticized it because it wasn't American Idiot. FOAMF is the last album they have with Warner, they obviously want it to stand out. They wanted to try something different.

Think of it this way; you have always had blonde hair but now you decide that you want to dye it black in order TO TRY SOMETHING DiffERENT y

you might like the change but then you go home and see that everyone is criticizing your choice on a fan made community chat

Mutt Lange helped make Pyromania and Hysteria by Def Leppard masterpieces. Butch Walker helped make the FOAMF a piece of shit.

From the clip I thought this would be a more typical Green Day sound, I'm glad it isn't and that they're going all in with this new style! Reminds me of The Hives. So catchy and fabulous

Edit: Omg just reading the description (still loving how reminiscent of the Rev's myspace messages these are) and lyrics. I think they're great, simple and to the point and remind me of some earlier stuff talking about knocking teeth out and calling someone a liar etc, wonderfully spiteful.

The way he pronounces "hyperbole" though 😩. Or is that just the way it's pronounced in the US? lol

Please tell me he didn’t pronounce it “hyper-bowl”?!

Between this and FOA I think I'm gonna enjoy this new Foxboro album. Seems like the Reverend has some hot takes on this 21st century breakdown... wait, what year is it?

I’m so glad I listened to the song a few times before coming to this thread. I think the song is good and fun. After the first few listens I probably still prefer FOAMF, but I really can’t get some of the most harsh criticism in here.

Personally, I love that they’re taking different directions and producing different music. As @Hermione said, after listening to the preview I was a bit afraid this would have been a classic straight forward GD song like KYE and 99 rev, and I’m so glad it is not.

I like Billie’s scream-ish voice in this, I think it fits well with the music, it is used as an instrument among the other instruments to create the melody, it’s good, it doesn’t give me an over produced vibe. It’s different from the usual Billie’s voice, and since it’s screamed it’s not that easy to catch the lyrics without knowing them first, but what’s the issue here?

The instrumental is good, Tre is on point, Mike doesn’t lead as much as in FOAMF, but the piano and keyboards are some of the best I’ve ever heard from GD, they fit in so well and are damn catchy. I really look forward to seeing Freese play this live!

The lyrics are straight to the basic, it’s not a poetic GD song, but that’s ok to me, cause they fit the song vibe, the voice here is an instrument, and it’s fine to have a song like this.

This is probably not a masterpiece, and probably not the best song in the album, but still I continue to prefer this kind of songs, giving a good vibe, making me dance, experimenting in new directions, putting into GD music elements from many other rock n roll history acts, then another KYE (or the original one), 99 revolutions, revolution radio (song) etc.

Don’t take what follows as a personal attack or an obnoxious and paternalistic comment (even tho probably it is a bit obnoxious and paternalistic), but when I hear people saying “ah clapping and piano all the time this is so pop” or “ah this is not pop punk how can they call this GD” or “why Billie doesn’t use his voice how he was doing in the 90’s” or “ah this is pop music, is not an epic ballad as the songs they were making 15 years ago” or “ah this is so FOB/music that teenagers like, damn Butch Walker”... fuck me when I hear this sort of stuff said after listening to this kind of songs, I think some people should stop listening to Green Day an pop punk for at least a few months, go out there in the magic universe of rock music history and listen to a different artist each day.

Don’t take me in the wrong way, I understand people not liking this, as I said after FOAMF I understand people missing the AI-ish GD sound and epic vibe and who will not enjoy this creative direction, but geez I can’t understand how can anyone hates this “because it’s pop and not Green Day”,  maybe only to then go back to listening to Boulevard and 21 Guns and thinking “ah this is such an authentic not pop GD sound because I can understand every word yuhu”.

100 times this over a new KYE. Always.

The whole point of a forum is that you come here to share your opinion on stuff. If you liked the song, that's great, if you didn't, you're still allowed to come here and say so. What's the big deal?

And what do you mean by "loyalty". You can have a favorite band or artist but still don't like every song they put out. Green Day has been my favorite band for 15 years, but I still don't like ever single song they've ever made. That doesn't mean I'm not loyal to the band.

I will go to my grave saying that this is their “choke on it Warner” album right before they slam the door behind them. This is just objectively shit, and not even in the trilogy way. In a way “they’ve got to be shitting us” kinda way. Lulu/ St Anger kinda bad, and I refuse to believe they’ve become THAT level of shit. Whether or not Magnum Opus is a real thing or not, Billie’s gleeful enthusiasm about being done with Warner from a month ago really shows here. Either that, or he’s off his rocker again, which while I hope is not the case, is seeming more likely by the day to me. Or both. But damn, they’re really screwing the pooch here. I hope for their sake it’s by design.

The problem with saying it is objectively shit is that you are objectively incorrect. Art is entirely subjective, plenty of people actually do like the song, and there are no actual technical issues with the performances themselves. There is no way to objectively measure what music is or is not shit. You do not have to like it, that is fine. You can think by your personal standards and the standards of plenty of other people, that it is shit. However, that's all entirely subjective.

This could be the worst Green Day era......EVER!

OR their best era ever if the ''secret/real/another album after this one'' theory is true.

I can already see a thread about new album somewhere in spring and us looking at this period and the whole FOAM thing, just laughing about it and loving how well Green Day trolled us.

Or at least that's what I'm craving for, since I still can't escape the weird vibe this era is giving me..

I like it enough that it got me to come back here for the first time in about 3 years. Really digging the FBHT sound and am glad to see them trying something a bit different. I get how it may disappoint some, but I'm a sucker for garage rock and I always enjoyed their brief ventures into that territory.

I like how people say the production is terrible. It isn't, it's just OTT. With RevRad, the focus seemed to be more on the playing than the accuracy of levels and throwing filters upon filters in.

Upon multiple listens, I prefer it to FOAM, think it’ll be fun live but just don’t get the point of it. It’s Hives-y but not quite as good and there’s no real depth to it
