Beerjeezus
What is this about? Are they playing outside because they realized it's too dangerous to get close to drunk hockey fans?

Also possible is that they're waiting to make a joint announcement with the band

It's the NHL. I'm not surprised. The All Star weekend always seems like a thrown together thing. Players aren't wanting to go claiming "rest" or "sickness" then are spotted on planes going to Cabo or some other beach resort.
The Grohl
I'm not familiar with any of this since I don't follow sports, but it sounds like chaos. The game is next week....how do you not have details about events out?!

Or they talked to their management and decided to coordinate this announcement with the release of the single to not confuse things? But probably just logistics not firmed up yet. BrendanL
The event is back up on the NHL Fan Access app as well. Simply says 5:00 start, with no end time listed. I wonder how long of a set we'll get? Maybe something similar to their MTV World Stage performance in Sevilla, just shy of 20 songs. Super excited to make the trip! Who am I seeing there?

Squashie
I know they aren't on the ice during the game time, but who's to stay they won't get personal ice time to mess around. This is GD. Actually even better yet (but won't happen because of timing), would be they disrupt the mascot game saturday.

Rumpelstiltskin2000
Article here: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8548205/green-day-performing-nhl-all-star-game?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter Here's Everything You Need to Know About Green Day's Headline NHL All-Star Game Performance: Exclusive The band also released the new single "Oh Yeah!" on Thursday (Jan. 16). Green Day are hitting the ice. The rock trio is continuing its multiyear partnership with the National Hockey League with an upcoming headlining performance at the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 25 in St. Louis. The group will perform outside the Enterprise Center just before they run inside to perform during the second intermission, presented by Ticketmaster. The performance will be televised as part of the All-Star game broadcast on NBC in the U.S and the CBC, Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. The free, outdoor performance will be open to the public and begin at 5 p.m. CT on 14th and Market Streets. “Our partnership with Green Day goes to a whole new level with this performance,” said Steve Mayer, NHL chief content officer and executive vice president in a statement about the two-year pact between the band and the league that will find songs from the upcoming Father of All... album featured in game highlights, tune-in campaigns and across broadcast, digital and social platforms from the NHL and its TV partners. “This one will be unlike anything we have ever done at the League as we are featuring the band as they perform both inside and outside Enterprise Center. Throw in a few fireworks over the St. Louis Arch and we hope to put together a memorable production for hockey fans and fans of Green Day.” As if that wasn't enough, Green Day unleashed the next single from Father of All... (Feb. 7) on Thursday (Jan. 16) as well, the foot-stomping "Oh Yeah!" The meme-filled video for the song that samples Joan Jett's "Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)" and features a series of wanna-be viral stars trying to get them likes. By the way, the description of the video notes that the band is donating their royalties from the track to the anti-slavery group IJM and anti-sexual violence group RAINN, noting that the Jett song was a cover of disgraced British glam rocker Gary Glitter's 1973 original "Do You Wanna Touch Me." Glitter (born Paul Gadd) was convicted of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and having sex with an underage girl in 2015 and is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence. "BTW we sampled a song from the great Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation album. One of the writers on that song is a total asshole so we’re donating our royalties from this song to IJM and RAINN," Green Day wrote. Green Day will launch their global stadium tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer, the Hella Mega Tour, on June 13 in Paris. 1
