The strain in his voice during the on-ice show did sound similar to pre-rehab performances. Don't want to assume but I immediately thought that.

So after the sores on my feet healed, the cold left my body, and I got some good sleep I can say that was quite an experience! I've never queued up for a show that early, but it was kind of cool standing around with other fans talking about the band and other nonsense. It was colder than I thought, but we all suffered together! I'm still disappointed about the length of the show, how they came out late, how it was advertised, and how we have no explanations, but do I regret coming out? Not really. I don't travel for shows ever, so this was my first venture and I really enjoyed it. I hope to do it again for an actual concert!

I may be disappointed with the show, but I can't deny that Green Day killed it. And it was a thrill being that freaking close to them. Holy shit! Hearing FRA during soundcheck and being there for the live debut was pretty special too. Plus, I saw Kevin in person finally! 😍 And it was so cool to chat with other fans while waiting around for the band something else I don't really get to do and something that I hope to do more of in the future! I had fun meeting and hanging out with @pacejunkie punk, @Jon Benjamin, and @BrendanL. Hope to see you all at a show in the future! In the end, I'm glad I came out and did it, instead of wondering what it would be like at home. In the future, I wouldn't travel far for a free show, but I would totally do it for a regular concert with time and money willing!

I’ve had a chance to process the weekend too and I came to the same conclusion.  I don’t regret traveling for this, I had a really unique experience attending what was essentially a taping, got as close to the stage as could be and had fun hanging out all day making new friends.  I’m actually glad I didn’t know what it was going into it because then I might have done the sensible thing and decided it wasn’t worth going. But then my weekend would have been boring. Instead I took a risk and had a better time than I would have if I hadn’t gone. Green Day makes everything better.

It wasn’t strain exactly, it just sounded pitchy because he likely couldn’t hear himself

"Game" review from Expressen (sweden). He wrote more about GD than anything else.

(I Google translated it.)

"...And then we have the break entertainment, which got to the highest level when Green Day was did a double show, where you started with giving a free concert outside the arena and then walking in the Enterprise Center and running two songs before the final match.

Billie Joe Armstrong was in top form and once again showed the showman he is.

And as usual, he offered a series of F-bombs, which prompted NBC Sports to accelerate the censorship function and with a few seconds of delayed broadcast it became a few blip-blip. The first one already during the opening of "Basket Case" when Armstrong invited the audience "Get your f-king hands up in the air" and a little later during the song came "Let´s go f * cking crazy". Several of the players in the two teams, who did not reach the final, came out on the ice to listen to Green Day. Many with the mobile phone in hand to film the show.

Here you can talk about the first parquet. And Billie Joe thanked for the appreciation by taking a turn to the remaining NHL stars who sat on the ice along the coffin and taking them in hand as thank you on their way out of the ice. It was a real star meeting." - Gunnar Nordström.

I love Gunnar.

The comments are a ride.

They're making me happy. Assuming they are from people who aren't big Green Day fans, it's good to see they enjoyed the performance/had fun/marvel at how Billie looks so young and aren't even slightly fazed by someone's testimony that they saw Billie take his pants off. The public is getting the right picture

I just watched the pro footage and I think the performance sounds really good. I actually really enjoyed FRA live, and I don’t get some of the comments about the use of backing tracks. From what I can hear and see the only time a backing track is used is for the clapping at the beginning. For the rest the backing vocals simply sounds like both Jasons and Mike (and Kevin as well for the “uuuuuuuh”) singing with Billie.
The indoor part is great, as any other live from the band in this era IMHO.

Interesting comment on the reddit by the guy who said a cameraman told him that Billie was pissed about having to go back out and redo that take of FRA and that it may have contributed to his fuck you attitude later in the live show

Do you know what was the actual reason to do it again? They did FOA for second time in a broadcast show as I remember but I thought they would perform FRA on the hockey rink since it's the theme song

I finally found the time to watch the videos, the boys looked and sounded great! Billie taking his mic and walking cautiously over the ice is like the cutest thing I've ever seen. I really held my breath because it reminded me of the one time he missed a stair on a German TV show and fell right into the arms of Sabine😂 This time there wouldn't have been a big lady to catch him, so thank God he didn't slip!😄

I thought that a deliberate trip to fall into her arms, never thought he actually tripped!

I can't tell but he is dorky enough to trip on purpose

Just what Billie told us when he came back on was they were told from the top that the crowd wasn’t enthusiastic enough and they had to do it again. He may have been joking about the reason though idk.  Whatever they saw on their footage they must not have been happy with it.

FRA did air during the TV broadcast, they showed that first and then the two songs from inside the arena so that’s why they needed a good take. KYE and Bang Bang were just songs to pump up the crowd.

Weird seeing them from above like that. Also seeing Billie struggling to drag his chord across the surface. And the video I saw had awful sound.
