Uhm he was? He was slurring both songs! I don’t think he did anything wrong but you can compare the performances to rev rad and then like Irving plaza and honestly say which one it was like. As someone who drinks a lot, you can just see it in their eyes 😂

Can’t access from UK, god am I sick of saying that, can anyone give us a summary please?

ok, still catching up but it seems to me the Band sounded great and looked great.  Yes, it was short and I am sorry for folk who travelled a long way expecting and or hoping for more but I guess it explains why they were so quiet about it beforehand and I can only assume it was the plan, this band is much more likely to play too long rather then short if you go by their history after all.

FRA sounds great live too, think this is a live album we’re getting.

I cant hear any slurring either. But the sound is off/weird in the beginning of Basket Case. But it picks up again. I thought they did great, despite "TV sound" and all.

If that performance is considered "hammered" then I dont know what is anymore.

That was a solid performance, no idea why people are complaining. He did swear, but he says "let's go fucking crazy" during EVERY show, so why is everyone freaking out? 😄 And can people PLEASE stop comparing this to the iHeart radio incident? Or say that he was drunk or wasted or whatever? That's ridiculous. They played a couple of songs and they did a good job, as always. They're a rock band.

Also, FRA sounds way better live. They should put out a live version of the entire album instead of the studio version 😂

I thought that they would've done FRA during the indoor performance since its the NHL jingle, but nevertheless still pleased that it was played during the outdoor one. As I've said elsewhere I hope there are no unplayed songs from this album like there was with Rev Rad, especially as FOAM and now FRA sound great live... so hopefully the other 8 songs will be the same too.

This is so dumb though, why is this causing so much interest, it's like iHeart light

Even if the parents are freaking out over it, If anything I reckon most kids are going to think it was amazing and want to check out the band. I used to think it was so awesome to hear them say those words when I was a kid and that wasn't even on live national tv.

I find it hilarious that despite the efforts to actually mute Billie's mic in those songs, he still caught them off guard multiple times. The first time may have been an accident but to be honest after that kind of feel like it was done on purpose in a reaction to being censored 🤣

Also because you don't need just a Green Day gig to listen to these words. Come on. It's 2020 😂
I have a 2 years old cousin who is now learning and repeating everything
My uncle one day told us "She said ass"

In my experience any parent that try to "save" their kids from hearing those words instead of teaching their kids responsible usage of the word lose big in the end. As soon as the parents aren't around, the kids are always gonna use way use more f-bombs than in any Green Day mini sets.

Kids are kids, if you are gonna try and hide something from them, most of the little shits are just going to find a way to get it behind your back. 😂

Yeah, of course, kids love their swear words, I was no different. I can only thank god my parents don't speak English so I always got away with Green Day. I'm sure they would't be happy about the words I learned (unlike the US kids, I got quite an educational experience) :P Billie totally was doing it on purpose, he knows how to get attention haha

That's so awesome! I still imagine you wouldn't have watched BIAB around them though ;)

My Mum always tried to shelter me from even listening to the radio because of all the non-christian stuff that was on there. Guess who lost big time in the end :P

Watch Green Day deliver a sweary performance at NHL All-Star Game

"Anyone know why we're trending?"

Green-Day-NHL-696x442.jpg

Green Day treated fans to an energetic performance at the NHL All-Star Game on Saturday night in St. Louis, with the a few of singer Billie Joe Armstrong’s expletives during the set slipping past the censors.

Although the expletives were muted by NBC’s censors, former Deadspin video director Timothy Burke reported that the lines passed through the secondary audio feed without censorship.

Green Day later tweeted about the incident, playfully asking “Anyone know why we’re trending?”

Fans were generally amused by the controversy, with some suggesting that Armstrong’s swearing shouldn’t have come as a surprise to the broadcasters.

Earlier this month (January 16), Green Day announced that they will donate royalties from their latest track to sexual assault charities, after it sampled a Joan Jett track that was originally written by Gary Glitter.

The chorus to ‘Oh Yeah!’ hears the punk band sample Jett’s 1980 version of ‘Do You Wanna Touch Me’, which was first performed by the shamed musician in 1973.

Posting on Twitter, Green Day confirmed that all proceeds from the track would go straight to the International Justice Mission and RAINN, two charities that work with victims of sexual offences.

I think it could because of a technical issue about audio so maybe he wasn't hearing himself well in the beginning.

I made sure they didn't see Hitchin A Ride when it was televised :P In this house we maintain an illusion of a distinguished band

ngl, if I was a parent I'd be mortified about a lot of stuff too

Last year, Green Day entered into a two-year multi-platform deal with the NHL; no word yet on whether Saturday’s performance will affect that deal.
