They've gone up from 14-17 million during the time theyve been promoting the album

Just that most people are gonna listen to Dookie, AI and 21cb.

Good, I hope it was that big a jump. I haven't checked that much since the Rev Rad era and I don't remember their total then, just that their rank was closer to 125 even a year after release. Their hits are always going to be the most streamed. They're hits for a reason, and while streaming hasn't been around for that long, they've still had a head start and have a reputation, end up on "best of rock/punk" lists etc. But I don't agree that there's been a decline in quality. Some bumps maybe but they're one of the few bands still pretty consistently putting out good stuff this far into their career. It's just not a perfect match for what the mainstream wants like it was in '94 and '04, so it's never going to get the same level of attention and respect. I just compare them to other rock bands, old or new, and on that front they're doing really well streaming wise. If anyone knows how to see a list of the full top 500 streamed artists on Spotify, let me know, but just from trying to guess every rock band I can think of (old/new, dead/alive), they're only beaten by a few.

FOAMF gets a mention in this Rolling Stone piece:

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/rs-charts-green-day-roddy-ricch-954555/

"Green Day came in right behind it at Number Six with Father of All… The band relied heavily on album sales — earning more than 35,000 — but didn’t attract much streaming interest (less than 7 million on-demand audio streams overall)."

Weird that Rolling Stone measures the same thing but has different numbers and ranking than Billboard?

Yesss #2 in Austria. RevRad peaked at #4.

And hey @Thatsername, the Amigos are #1 in Austria too 😂

Funny how most of the reviews written in German were so negative yet it peaks at #1 in Switzerland and #2 in Austria and Germany :D

I think they calculate the impact of streams differently. Streams count for less on RS I believe.

GD get a mention in this article:

https://www.pollstar.com/article/elite-100-pop-smoke-charts-green-day-reaches-no-11-143634

Roddy Ricch was once again No. 1, but Green Day’s Father of All…  dropped on Feb. 7, leading the punk band to big gains on the chart.

The group logged 38,400 album sales for the week, the chart leader in that category. Combined with 11,500 song sales and 22.4 million on-demand streams, the group tallied 57,700 total units.

Green Day recently announced a trip Down Under, and before that unveiled the “Hella Mega” Stadium Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

Green Day performed stadium dates in 2017, including a nearly $1.6 million gross at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., with 36,912 tickets reportedly sold.

According to Mediatraffic, 123.000 copies of the album were sold worldwide in the first week. To put this into perspective, RevRad sold 206.000 copies in week one.

Is this even possible? I mean they sold 100.000 just in US and Australia. 23.000 for the rest of the world? 😅

Are you sure about that? Like, did they sell more than 50.000 in Australia? That would be huge for a country with that population, actually 😅

I think they sold about 48,000 in America and roughly 24,000 in the UK, so I doubt that the numbers for Australia were that high.

They will undoubtedly rock the unicorn socks off all the people at Hella Mega, giving them no choice but to go home and listen to Green Day.

Preferably on old timey discs.

That being said, I think FOAM was probably the first Green Day album (or project, if you take the trilogy into consideration) that didn't really have a hit single. So far, almost every record since Dookie either had a mainstream hit or a no. 1 on the alternative charts or something. FOAM didn't though, which is definitely a contributing factor, if you ask me.

Actually, Father of All... fits the description with flying colors on the Billboard chart.

#1 on Mainstream Rock Songs

#1 on Rock Airplay

#3 on Alternative Songs

#6 on Hot Rock Songs

#18 on Rock Digital Song Sales

Yeah, Father of All...was no. 1 on some charts, but I was talking about the alternative songs chart. Also, both Bang Bang and Still Breathing entered the charts in various countries around the world, for example. Father of All didn't, as far as I know. But you're right, it did better than Oh Yeah, for instance. I just think that the singles from their previous records including RevRad had a bigger impact in the alternative/rock scene.

Yaay, only a small drop in Scotland, that’s good to see.  I did go out last Saturday & buy the cd (after buying on iTunes on release day). Looks like a lot of people may have done a similar thing here. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I did have a quick look at the vinyl lp in one shop, but it felt light as a feather, and the cardboard outer looked really flimsy too, so I didn’t bother with that.

It's really funny how sales are today

In 2012 the album Tre! In its first week, it sold 58,000 copies and placed in the 13th position of billboard and now in 2020 "Father of all" sold only 48,000 copies and is number 4 ...

So the Billboard 200 will update later today?

Still showing #4 at the moment
