and they get another 5-6 days of sales before Tuesdays results. Not going terrible by any means.

Does this count the pre-orders?

I'm not sure, but I think those are sales predictions, meaning that they expect the album to debut with the sales that they have predicted. So 40-50k the day the charts are published. I'm not 100 percent sure though.

Billboard article: Green Day's 'Father of All…' Heading for Top 10 Debut on Billboard 200

https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/8550870/green-day-father-of-all-heading-top-10-debut-billboard-200-albums-chart

Green-Day-03-press-by-Pamela-Littky-2020

Green Day is set for a top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week with their latest studio album, Father of All… Industry forecasters suggest the set, which was released Feb. 7 via Reprise/Warner, could launch with perhaps as much as 50,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Feb. 13. Most of that sum will be driven by album sales.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the Feb. 22-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Father of All… could debut in the top 10) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, Feb. 16.

If Father of All… starts in the top 10, it will secure the rock band its 11th top 10 effort. The band last dropped a new studio album back in 2016 with Revolution Radio, which entered at No. 1.

Father of All… might be one of only two debuts in the top 10 next week, as the next highest new entry will likely come from Pop Smoke’s Meet the Woo 2. The latter set could bow with perhaps 28,000 to 32,000 units, nearly entirely from streaming activity.

As for what will be No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200, it looks like Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial will return to the top for a fourth nonconsecutive week. It may earn around 80,000 units.

As of the Wednesday UK update it was on 21.2k sales with 2nd place on 9k so still comfortably in the lead.

if they really wanted to "secure" a #1 album, they could have bundled the album with each ticket of the tour. A lot of artist do that nowadays (and now I have cds again after I stopped collecting them a while ago....). A #1 debut would have been nice but they chose not to go that route so I guess they kinda expected not to get the top spot, which is fine.

They changed the rules and don’t let you do that anymore. Those things don’t count towards sales.

I remember when Lady Gaga sold her album for 99 cents. They started cracking down on all those things.

Not sure how accurate the article is, but from my understanding of it, although they did change the rule overall, album bundled with a concert ticket still counts in the sales

To be honest, I would agree with not counting those as album sales,  it's just not very fair.

True, they could have made it cost 3.49$ on top of the concert ticket price, and it would have still counted. Glad they didn’t use this kind of tricks.

green day #2 en worldwide albums

Does this influence the weekly charts?

iTunes doesn‘t have that big market share when it comes to albums, (e.g. the album is #9 in Japan), so the overall numbers should be much better

This only refers to the last 24h I think? Pretty good result nonetheless, even if iTunes doesn’t count that much anymore. It will influence the weekly chart only for the US component of this tho.

They have been on top/near the top of the global Itunes charts all the time since the release of FOAM. It's mostly about streams these days though, so if you want an album to be a long time success, your music needs to be streamed constantly. But still, ITunes are part of the game and it definitely influences the global sales numbers and chart positions worldwide I'd say.

Number 2 on German album charts! They were just updated minutes ago. (And please don't google the album that made number 1. It's embarrassing, thank you🤣)

What the fuck, it didn't chart at all in Austria?? Can't be true

Maybe it’s like billboard? The February 16 chart there it’s actually considering last week sales, and on Tuesday they are gonna release the February 23 chart, that refers to this week?
