Yes, I’ve heard some of the demos, one becoming a track on LS

What song did it end up becoming if you don’t mind me asking?

Even if he isn't talking about Green Day - rock opera, yes please  If he's talking about MCR, I'm also super-excited. Let's see what the future will bring...

That‘s what I thought as well. Even if it‘s not Green Day, Rock Opera sounds amazing!

Butch's post is interesting but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Definitely could be talking about some other band...

Interesting regardless

or himself... or just trolling us since we've been bothering him since we found out he's involved with the band 😂

But... could possibly be Green Day. They've hinted at new music soon. Could be something they're dangling in front of Warner in regards to negotiations...

Also, Green Day works FAST. They're are so efficient in the studio not to mention they're famous for holding huge backlogs of songs due to their efficiency in writing. Not sure if anyone remembers but Rob always talked about how quick Billie was at vocal tracking for Dookie. Most were done in 1 take only.

I don't think it will be called MOOTIK but could very well be the next GD record. They haven't done anything big and exciting for a long time and I do feel like FOAMF will be a shorter chapter in what could be a few constant years of GD.

My biggest question is, if this theory is legit, why no new leaks appear at the moment and why nobody knows who did it. It's just so quiet.

Then we should spam Dr.RobertDoback’s account with comments and PM’s!! “WE WANT MORE MOOTIK LEAKS!!!!”

There isn't really any leaks to start with. Not enough valid info in what we have for the MOOTIK theory. They're also not going to let the next anticipated album overshadow the current upcoming album even if it's planned to be short lived.

The solid info we have is such:

1. Billie Joe says that a new album may be coming within the next year. A new album that isn't FOAMF.

2. Green Day has been sitting on a huge backlog of songs for years. They had about 40 tracks during AI when only 13 were used  and a handful were used for B-Sides. Another 40 for 21cb and of course what theyve written since. We know about a handful of songs omitted from the trilogy and Rev Rad had a short tracklist.

3. Green Day went back into the studio to work on more songs during what we believed to be FOAMF sessions.

4. Butch posts about a rock opera but with no hard details but we all know the current band most famous for such an effort.

What we don't know is what's happening with the label and that will affect any possible release. However, I will say anyone speculating GD being related to that rock opera post is more on the side of validity. It's been a while and they're biggest albums of recent years have been in this format. I also think they're far enough away from 21cb to revisit it without it being exhausting for us fans.

We all know they’re going independent, but earlier in the thread, someone said MOOTIK would be released on Jingletown Records. How do we even know they’ll call it that? Have they ever hinted toward it?

We don’t know they’re going independent. They've mentioned they’ll be off their deal with warner after this album but for all we know they might end up signing on considering how contradictory Billie has been in the past. I’m sure I’ve seen them say that they’re open to renegotiating somewhere

I’m sure they told Howard Stern they may sign a new contract with Warner’s, or not, it’s subject to negotiations.

And Billie never talked about a new album coming soon after FOAMF. The whole point of negotiating a new contract with Warner or going independent is to be free to release songs without having the album format binding them.

Re: people asking about fans feeling cheated/ripped off being sold a b-material record when another one is on the way-

I'm going to go on record saying this now just so I can come back to it if I wind up being right, but when/if MOOTIK gets released, I bet it'll be for free online. That way, no fans are "ripped off" or have to buy ANOTHER record or something. Green Day certainly doesn't need the money, and there'd be no Warner anymore to stop them.

Also, that Butch post is v big if true. I WANT TO BELIEVE!!

Well yes, I'm sure they'll still do physicals and merch and stuff for it too, but I'm talking free downloads in addition to that, rather than instead of. What would be more punk rock than giving away their "Magnum Opus" for free??

Also, I'm sure "GREEN DAY RELEASES FIRST INDEPENDENT RECORD IN 26 YEARS FOR FREE ONLINE" would land them more in the public eye again and whatnot. Especially if it's the mega rock opera we suspect.

Pardon me but that's not even close to the same level, you can find different interpretations to that cover, you can dislike it, hate it, find it absurd and everything you want, but here we are talking about GD recording a song, filming the process, then removing the audio of the video, add again an isolated audio of the song recorded from another session, then add the audio of the Billie Joe/Panicland conversation. I find it hard to even describe the process.

No it's from the same audio source, Panicland asks if they can perform at a Longshot show or something like that and Billie replies "yeah totally totally". We have known this for 3 months. And I think there are millions of people wearing sneakers and shorts every day.

Example of where the author could have take Billie's voice singing "aaaaaaaaah":

Take the "ine" part of "9" from 1969 at 2:14, work on it for half an hour and you have your "aaaaaah aaaah aaaah".

To me the ones in the leak sounds more like "la la la la" only in the end on the last riff  there is aah

However to my ears they sound so clean and not destroyed by pitch shifting. It's a shitty record from a phone and you can clearly tell the vocal line through all the instruments. It means it was of a very good quality from the source.

So we don't know they're going independent. We know that they're at the contract's end and they are not opposed to going independent but have also stated being open to renegotiating with Warner.

Using the phrase "someone said MOOTIK would be released on Jingletown Records" provides 0 qualitative information. If you went to work and reported to your boss this way the first thing you would get back is who and when was this stated? What's the source? where is this in writing? That's all applicable here. Who said it, when was it said and where was this stated?

He mentioned a new release may happen in one of the early interviews. So he did talk about it but he didn't confirm it.

Remember this is thread is basically a GD conspiracy theory thread. Be careful with what language you use. As you see in the posts above a lot of stuff is being misconstrued.

This thread is like forum version of broken telephone.

Green Day should take every penny they have and invest it into recording an album.  Going for broke by literally going broke.

Imagine what a 150 Million dollar Green Day record would sound like.

Or maybe they should buy the record company, becoming the opposite of sellouts.

Lol that’s just some guy strumming the riff he heard from the “leaks” while having Billie talk in the back-ground from some recording.

Concerning Butch’s post: That’s very exciting news, but there’s absolutely no way of knowing if he actually means Green Day or if he’s being serious. Also, even IF it is Green Day, that still doesn’t confirm MOOIK, neither in name, nor in recordings, despite (I will admit) the quite incredible coincidence.

For Mike it would cost $40 million. For Tre I'd discount it.
