A friend talked with Frank Maddocks about the leaked cover art. Frank said It a discard cover for Gods Favorite Band.

And Green Day said Father Of... is a good song, so I'm taking everything with a pinch of salt

Hmm, this raises more questions I think??

At the very least this thread has made me want to go back and follow the account again. Real or not, I’m back to thinking it’s an inside job and more may come from it.

This totally makes sense.

The shitty album art, using part of AI's cover/logo, the unicorn and billies mention of "nothing says fuck you like a unicorn", the lyrics to FOAM very obviously taking jabs at Warner, the extremely filtered vocals, the album only being 26 minutes.

Either i'm horrifically wrong or they have truly lost touch with reality.

First time ever posting here, long time Green Day fan.

Something else to consider- I know there were those leaks that they were filming a new video last month.

FOB/Weezer/and Green Day all under Crush management. They went to great efforts to have extremely similar marketing for each band today.

Fall Out Boy released their video at noon. Weezer released theirs as well. However, no Green Day video.

*Maybe* Warner has caught on to what this album is (could be) at this point, and refused to pay for a video to support it?

Idk, just seems strange they're the only one without a video to accompany it, with them being the biggest draw of the three.

Warner wants their money so they'll promote it as long as they can reasonably expect to see their investment return. The only album they cut promotion off for was the trilogy when they couldn't count on the band to promote the albums and tour (kinda morbid if you think of it but it be like that). Even if Green Day take a dig at Warner, they're still making money for the company so Warner can't complain. Moreover, the video was already shot, so it's just a question of when it's released.

But this just confuses things even more. If he did really say that, then whoever posted that last video leak holding the vinyl cover is an insider who works with the band in some capacity.

If that is indeed a discarded cover for GFB, there's no way Panicland could have had access to it in any capacity, let alone a physical copy, right?

Hmm, it's not like I have any desire to see that video but it is an interesting thought! (Still hoping it's all just a bad joke)

I think it's also possible that there's not a horrible relationship with Warner at all. Maybe they just decided to work more with people from before 1994. Like it seems like they spent time with them more again with the Turn it around documentary. They could've decided that 2 big albums on a major was enough and wanted to try and pull something off on a indie label or something. I was worried about today being awful and it wasn't great but the fact that this still could be real and that they will be releasing music more often is really exciting to me

Doesn't really make sense for them to refuse a GD video when GD have been the band hyping the tour the most and being the band who's garnered the most attention to the whole Hella Mega thing

I'd be so glad if this all turns out to be true. The current album cover and single were both really awful I thought tbh.  It's chill if other peeps liked the new single, but it was way too far from any style GD have ever done for my taste.

Yes but the question is why not today? It's strange since both FoB and Weezer released their own officials

Could be of a big help in promotion given all the attention they are capitalizing today with the announcement

Yeah, that's all I was saying. They're just the outlier in this situation, and they supposedly already have a video on deck. Turnaround can be less than a week on shoots sometimes for vids. Just kind of weird, you'd think they'd want to capitalize on the hype.

Also, weird long gap between today's announcements and the actual release.

With no shows announced yet (sans Whisky Go Go & Jimmy Kimmel), the band have ample time to possibly tweak and master the magnum opus?

Honestly, I think this whole theory is just wishful thinking because you're all disappointed in this new release and the album cover. Billie's said that there might be some more music coming next year but to me, I don't think anything is set in stone. I don't think this is a "Fuck you Warner" move

Yeah, probably wishful thinking, but honestly I just want to know who produced that music and who leaked, that's all...

It's really a long long time, usually with a single in September a release is likely to happen in October/November never in December because of the Christmas releases. Maybe November was overbooked and they had to postpone it to January

The leaked clips would probably still mesh with the sound the single today had. Even the same vocal filter was used in the verses and one part of the leaked clip. Could just be clips from FOAM.

So you think they're from a different song on FOAMF? I don't know, since the songs are so short (presumably), that would kinda mean several songs were leaked. It also just seems so different stylistically. But who knows...
