Over all I am pretty sure they are kind of having fun and trolling + releasing a "serious" (whatever that means) album in 2020 as well. Billie always had shit to say about how great the songs are, how much fun recording was (except insomniac haha), the intension of the album and so on. I do not feel this at all on this one.

No cult thing. Just a big fuck you, we're done and it's time for us to do our own thing.

The second album is done.

Are you one of the verified insiders? 😝

Alright, going to post all the evidence on both sides again (because I honestly don't know what to believe)

Evidence that supports this theory:

* The fact that the album is exactly 26 minutes long- Warner's absolute minimum on what's officially considered an "album"

* The album art- they're pretty much vandalizing their most iconic album cover on the way out the door of Warner

* How much the band seems eager to move on from Warner in interviews (also, maybe more importantly, their apparent disinterest in the album)

* The edgy name + being released a few months after Christmas makes this one brutal to market for Warner

* The MOOTIK stuff began leaking approx. 2 days before stuff about the new tour began to leak

Evidence that makes Magnum Opus look fake:

* In the Insta videos, the voice clips of Billie's studio banter are literally identical to soundbites from a video where the Longshot talks with another band performing one of their songs (check this: https://zz.reddit.com/r/greenday/comments/d0ha1m/theres_strong_evidence_that_the_recent_video/ )

* The studio appears to match the studio that said band uses, in Canada- leading some to believe that this is a publicity stunt for their next album (not going to mention the band here honestly, just because it's such a cheap way to market if true)

* Technically speaking, none of the band members can be clearly made out in the videos

* Some people believe that the vocals in these leaks don't sound like BJA (to me they do, this one is pretty subjective)

So yeah, believe what you want to believe, I honestly don't know anymore

Feel free to quote me and add more evidence to either side

Plot twist: Billie is just completely off the wagon again and taking it all serious.

this would be worst case

And I forgot (this goes on the first side, obviously): If you think about it and dissect the names, FOAM and MOOTIK basically mean the same thing, so there's a chance that the two albums will be released as a pair, a la Trilogy, with FOAM representing the garage rock/punk/"fun" side of the band, the MOOTIK representing the political, stadium/arena rock, rock opera side of the band

I honestly think the MOOTIK album cover really was an unused variant of GFB and even though Billie said there were more songs, I still think it's unlikely that they already have a fully recorded album ready to go.

1. Because it's difficult to keep something like that under wraps for too long.

2. Because Warner would still own all the rights.

So, I think unless the leaks were demos, I really have no idea what's going on.

Wether it's fake, leaks or an inside job, I don't care, I just want to know who wrote and recorded those damn songs in the leaks...

I would believe this if they weren't already printing off record sleeves, usually a physical release means you're 100% finished

Does it though? Can't be too expensive to print it out a few times, just to see how it looks? Also, if this is an inside job, the person / group of people might just have taken the digital files and printed it out themselves.

That is the one possibility that really worries me. I really don't think that's the case though.

Also forgot, the Twitter ramblings just seem too crazy, even for Billie's ramblings

Especially considering the inclusion of the word "glorious" and the randomly capitalized words

Idk if this has been brought up yet, but I’ve been thinking it all day. dr.rober doback is the dad from the step brother. A will ferrel movie. Weird  coincidence  considering that they used another one of his movies for the big reveal

What would this mean? I don't know the movie.

Nothing to know about movies really, just another weird parallel to the FOAM rollout

And add to all of this the fact that they are not going out on tour until March... that would give enough time to finish the album.

Also something else I just realized (this ties in to the whole "album is just trolling Warner" thing), the lyrics could basically be interpreted as something like the Beatles' Taxman, but for the label

"what a mess because there's no one to trust"

"come on honey, count your money"

"cracking up under the pressure"

etc.

Want another possible proof that the second album exists? Remember the post that Mike posted on Instagram with Tarantino, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio? Billie replied something like why do I have to be Tarantino.. Well I thought about this and here's something I came up with. There's a movie that Tarantino made and it's called Inglourious Basterds. See? Inglourious Basterds -> Magnum Opus Of The Inglorious Kind. Can this be just a coincidence?

Here's that post:

I'm so happy this theory is spreading. Yesterday as I was listening to the KROQ interview and piecing together everything else, it felt true, in my heart, that this is what's happening.
