I'm not sure how I feel about it - it's really great but the vocals trips me out. I'm so excited!

I'm not worred about this being serious because if they indeed were going completely bonkers it would show more. Billie seems quite composed for a person who just wrote a high rev-style shitpost.

This. Didn’t he say during Rev rad that they had lost their “fun ness” and that he missed that side of Green Day?

My problem with that is I kind of feel that's what we've gotten from 2012 onward.  They're obviously allowed to do what they want as a band, but Dookie was a breakout success because it was a breath of fresh air in the genre of 90's punk-pop (whatever you want to call it) and combined really cool instrument work with amazing lyrics that were relateable to everyone in some way or another. I'd argue AI and 21stCB (namely AI) were more breakout albums that helped define this generation of fans.

It's controlled chaos, so the fans can definitely tell but people looking in from the outside won't know

Check his twitter ramblings, the album cover, the fact that the new LP is only 26 mins long apparently, it doesn't add up

"It all keeps adding up, I think I'm cracking up----"

Sorry, I had to.

Listened again and you know what? I really dig this including the vocals. The falsettos sound awesome and the effects give it a nice different vibe, someone said it's like Blur and idk maybe I could think of something a little more fitting but I love how gritty it sounds. This could be a bubblegum song and it's not so good job on that.

GD will always be my all time fave rock band but without being able to hear BJ's real voice it just doesnt feel like its a real GD song. REMOVE THE FILTERS. I will stick to listening to Nightlife in the meantime😋

You totally got it, dude. The fact that he sings it that way, gives to a pretty ''standard'' song a different kinda vibe. He obviously forced himself, but in a good way. He has those B, A, A, B chords riffs in his DNA. But he's smart enough to know that he can't sing the same melody pattern over them. So it's cool. The overall recording is also non-Green Day, even if you can tell it's them playing. But it's not disturbing at all. I only hope they don't go too far from what they are. At the end of the day, I think that who loves Green Day, just want Green Day and nothing more. Fall Out Boy, a band I totally adore, ended up losing themselves, because of the ''evolution'' mantra. Sometimes it's better to stay yourself, Insomniac is the greatest example. Like Revolution Radio, after trilogy disaster.

mmmmmm Yass. Love your taste. Lady Cobra rapping sounds more like GD than Billie on FOAM.

It's amusing to me that almost anything done by the band that really sounds different is bashed by people. It's not pop at all. Like the most popular trilogy album was uno  even tho imo it was the worst. It sounded like another shenanigans. Dos and Tre were up and down but they hadn't done anything like brutal love and the forgotten before and this new track is continuing the experiments on dos like stray heart and lady cobra

First listen I hated it because it sounded like the white stripes or some poppy rock band you'd hear on the radio and change immediately. After about 5 listens I find myself liking it. You gotta get used to the vocals, but once you do that and accept that- Yes this is actually BJA, it's good.

The drumming is honestly pretty great here. Baseline is alright, better than most off of RevRad. The last chorus goes a little easy on the vocal filters and you can clearly hear BJA singing. The riff is nice and catchy too.

The lyrics are kinda meeeh. It's like the trilogy again except.. less crass? Some say this is a song about Warner. That makes things better and feel more inspired but as it stands they are just sorta meh.  The vocal filters are a huge turn off too.

So overall im thinking 6.5/10. If this wasn't green day this would probably be a 8 but hearing BJA with all those filters just irritates me tbh. With that said I love the energy and the garage (pop) rock feel, and I'm still excited for the album

I'm just baffled by the album cover and the message by BJA on green day .com. As others are thinking, they might just be trying to get this out of the way real fast so they can move on because this doesn't feel.... genuine I guess

Haha, yes, but I'm 100% sure it was all acting... 2012's Billie Joe is a mistake I guess he learned from 🙂

PS: Don't mind if I called you ''dude''. Sorry, it's meant to have an affective feeling 😛

Yeah, he did something cool and different with the vocals and for once the filters worked out even though I'm usually not a fan. It's a good mix of Dos and and a fresher more modern vocal sound. Not too much of an experiment, but it's a new sound, while it's still very gd.

I listened to some FOB just to see if I'm hating on them for a good reason and...I can't say I mind what they're doing. I don't want to see them live but to each their own. It's not bad for their genre. After listening to this new green day song I'm not worried they're going this same route.

I think once I got over the shock of "DIFFERENT EEEEK" I do really like the song. It's fun and cool and sounds good. My only complaint would be the mixing. Why do Weezer's songs sound so balanced and clear and GD's recent stuff so jumbled (i.e. vocals hard to hear over instrumental). I miss Nimrod or even AI level production.

Overall, still not digging the use of AI on the artwork, but the shock is wearing off. Wish the album was longer, but oh well.

Weezer must still have most of their hearing... 😋

Fall Out Boy started with pop punk, then mixed it more and more with a Michael Jackson-Prince kind of thing, 'cause their singer, Patrick Stump, is a sucker for them. But to me they've gone too far. They changed and... I don't even know what they sound like. I recognise them for lyrics and vocals only, these days. But I still check their live shows for older songs. I've had all their albums, just stopped from MANIA and on.

Yeah he just brought back his shitposting skills from the Foxboro Hottubs days...I'm sure non-fans are like "what the fuck is going on with this account"

No it's fine, I don't mind - gender is overrated anyway :P

I think it sounds like Queens Of The Stone Age, and I love QOTSA.

Just my opinion, but the worst thing that can happen if for a long-standing band to slip into complacency and sounding boring/the same on every album. I am so glad GD hasn’t fallen into this rut. They have completely taken me by surprise with all of this and to me that’s a very good sign of a band that’s still hungry.

Those ''whoaa yeah'' are still pretty removable, by the way, haha 😛
