It’s Green Day mixed with Tubbies, some of the Longshot deepcuts, acid, and a rock n roll vibe quite new to GD but not Billie Joe’s musical taste.  Again, personally I love it.

id wager a good bit of cocaine is in there as well.

First time ever here. Long time Green Day fan. Since Dookie (because before that I was too young to discover them). I actually really like this song. On first listen, I was like okay who the fuck is singing. But I still liked it. I like that they are doing something fresh, especially for them. I really think this is something they did to finish out their Warner contract, make the deadline, and equally we get something fun out of it. Its catchy, fun and if you listen to it a few more times, I think you'll find it better than you first thought. I listened a handful of times now and I'm loving this.

I dig the song and it grows on me everytime I listen to it. I like the guitars sound... it's kind huge guitar, and the drums sound. But I definitely don't like vocal filters at all. It doesn't even sound like it's Billie singing.

Also I don't like the artwork, especially because they're re-using AI's iconography and it looks very amateurish. The unicorn could be there, but rest could be something else. Also, I'm not a fan of the title, but let's see how the rest of the album will be like.

I'm gonna repeat what I said on the other thread: this brings trilogy vibes. Not only because of the song style that it could fit on Dos, but also Madonna Inn, glitter, leopard print drums, golden shoes, Billie talking about life and death of the party, booze!!!, fuck you... I don't know...

Even though I am PERPLEXED by some of the things happening right now, I utterly love this song after a few listens. It gives me a Black Keys vibe. More than anything, I appreciate that the guys never rest on their laurels and aren’t afraid to try new stuff. It’s a banger, especially in the car.

Completely agree. Jack White too and the last Queens of the Stone Age album.

I love the song too it sounds very trilogy/Tubbies to me with a dirtier sound and better production. Very garage yet also radio friendly. My family who like a lot of pop alternative love this. I think it will do well.

I’m not a huge Tubbies fan and was nervous when people described it as being like that. I see the similarity, but I do think it’s a sharper sound and a bit more like contemporary indie bands than like FHT. Which makes me very happy.

Yep, I don't like very much the verses
But I think the riff is great!

REALLY shocked by everyone saying it doesn't sound like Billie, apparently I'm better than the power of the all mighty falsetto.

Yeah it does sound like Billie, especially on the chorus but everywhere really. The falsetto or technique he uses sounds fine to me, it's true that the vocal filter is a bit heavy though. But if he likes that, I don't care. It's still great

Oh, I forgot to say that I think this song is gonna be awesome live!

Depends on how he handles the falsettos.

If this song is awesome live, I'm only gonna listen to that instead of the studio version

Agree, I mean yeah it sounds different because he's doing falsetto but I can totally tell is him, I don't understand the struggle.

That's funny, I didn't think that people might find him sounding different because of the falsettos, but only because of the vocal filters :P but falsetto or not when he'll sing it live (singing high without falsettos is not even easier vocally, the voice can break as easily) he's been pretty good at high notes lately. It's an ambitious deal to make that song the lead single and obviously promise to sing it live then, but I'm sure he'll manage just fine

I'm surprised the YouTube video has such a good Like/Dislike ratio considering how mixed the reaction has been pretty much everywhere. 31k likes to only 700 dislikes?

I thought the same thing.

Btw, anyone else annoyed that Billie basically said: "Yes, this (FOAMF) is representative of the album"?

I'm definitely going to have to listen to it a lot more. Usually I don't get the full vibe of the song until I listen to it a lot more. Definitely interesting and different. At first, I didn't know what to think of it. I've been a fan for 16 years and have seen them switch up their musical style many times. Honestly, at first I could hardly recognize Billies voice. I'm not apt to liking falsetto style singing as I lean toward a grungier feel. I think it does go more in tune with today's style of music however, I've always been one who loved the 90's and 2000's feel.

I'm going to have to give it a few more plays though. I think it may grow more on me. I don't like anything interfering or masking his voice however.

Didn't he say the same thing about Bang Bang though? And that wasn't really representative of RR

Honestly as long as the vocals are better in the rest of the album, I think it'll be ok

Yes! It would be great if they brought some of this glam garagey hot tubs vibe to their big Green Day shows to really change things up. We might see a hint of that at the Whiskey.

Listened to the song again. Still not loving it. I think I'm going to have to listen to it a few times for it to grow on me. I like the music and I like the hook. I just hate the verses. That vocal effect is awful. And I honestly I wanted something more hard rocking less FBHT. But still don't mind the Dos vibe. I'm hoping the next song they release will really get me excited for the LP. I didn't get excited about the trilogy until I heard Kill the DJ.
