I like it! nothing special, but damn did the guitars sound good. Though I wish the song had a longer actual guitar solo and a bridge after that before hitting the last chorus. Could've been amazing. But yeah I´d say 3/5! That being said I'm a bit worried of the lenght of the record also like some people have also adressed here.

Why is lovey dovey silly? I love the single but just saying

Oh, not saying that all love songs are silly. I was more aiming at the plain ones with silly (or cheesy?) lyrics that very many bands/artists stick to if they don't know what else to write about. There are very many of those these days and I just think it's nice and fresh with something else. Just a personal opinion, not a general statement.

I actually really like this, it sounds chaotic in a good way and the chorus is killer. I’m so happy they actually changed it up, it’s exactly what I wanted them to do. As much as I loved RevRad, if they just made another album like that I would have been so disappointed. Really excited to see what else they have in store

It’s not too late to change the album art either

Why everyone's hating on the song? I mean yeah its not a masterpiece, but I like it actually...my only problem with it are vocals and lyrics

Vocals and lyrics are like 2/3rds of what a song is though.

I blasted this five times on my way home from work and I love it.

It's not what I was expecting, but it's catchy as hell and I love that they did something totally different. I like that they constantly do something different. Tre's bass pedal kicks really come through well.

Also, if you're disappointed because it isn't the "fake leaks" maybe next time don't expect the fake thing to be the real thing?

The new Weezer song is dope too. This is fun.

I hope this song sounds better live and they release a live version of the song. Or a demo of the song

The song isn't bad but it's nothing special. For me, Green Day has been hit or miss since 21CB, which was the last album where every track was solid (Okay, Christian's Inferno is basically filler but the rest made for an excellent album)

Ever since then I always have found a few great songs but not albums that I would want to listen to from start to finish. There are beautiful tracks (X-Kid) and there's crap (Nightlife).

Green Day is overall enjoyable to listen to, but I don't get emotionally attached to their newer stuff.

I also think that Green Day wants to recapture the zeitgeist of the Bush era that made American Idiot such an icon, but things are just different now. Sure, Bush and Trump are both despicable Presidents who each fucked up America more than we ever thought possible, we're ruled over by piece of shit warmonger plutocrats in 2005 and 2019, but it's a whole different era now. This is a more cynical world and things are a lot worse. The type of music Green Day put out with RevRad and this single just don't feel like they fit with the times. I love Green Day but I don't think they can be icons again like they used to be.

Love the song but the album artwork is pure trash. I hate when bands use old artwork on something new, i want it to be its own body of work seperate from previous stuff

That just might be the point.

Does anyone else find it odd that this is the title track, but the phrase never comes up at any point in the lyrics? apologies if this has been mentioned already, I'm trying to sift through four or five different threads.

I think you are overcharging this of significance. I understand that you, as many other fans, miss the epic and emotional vibe of records like AI and 21CB. I love those records myself, and I would love a new epic sounding and emotional record. But I also love rock n roll, I love Quadrophenia and Tommy by The Who, but I absolutely adore My Generation, I think fun and crazy music like FOAMF can still produce emotions, joy, maybe in different ways. But I am pretty sure this song will blow my mind live much more then some epic emotional Green Day songs, or more traditional punk rock flat songs like KYE.

Of course this is just my opinion, but I don’t really think Green Day need an epic AI-ish album to maintain their “rock icons status”. They are icons, thanks to everything they did so far, and also thanks to this status they can now release whatever the fuck they want, including a single that sounds nothing like anyone would expect, or make a 26 minutes album, with a cover that shits on the face of one of their greatest success (and the idea of record it represents) and then leave a major label.

The song is really growing on me, as always I get used to the vocal filters fast. I still can't stand the uuuuhhhuuuuyeeeeaaaaahhh in the end though, wtf even is that lol

Ok, so the song might grow on me. It is very catchy.

The album feels like EP, but it's still an album. Maybe to bid farewell to Warner, and I kinda get it.

I am very comforted by the thought that the guys seem to be very happy of leaving Warner, and that they will surely release more music in the nearest future.

So, spiritually, Green Day is still alive to me. Just enjoying some new experimentation from them.

Sounds like a filler track from "Dos"...

Not really imo. It doesn't sound like it fits on any album that GD have released so far

It sounds like the trilogy, but worse.

Maybe a little bit like iDos! but more like Foxboro Hot Tubs

It’s Green Day mixed with Tubbies, some of the Longshot deepcuts, acid, and a rock n roll vibe quite new to GD but not Billie Joe’s musical taste.  Again, personally I love it.
