Looking at the chorus, it seems to me like they are really pissed off by Warner:

"Huh uh Come on honey/huh uh count your money/huh uh what’s so funny? there’s a riot living inside of us"

"Huh uh come on honey lying in a bed of blood and money Huh uh what’s so funny? We are rivals in the riot inside us"

Mabye Warner wanted too much influence on the production idk.

Yup. Thought the same thing. I think this is a big fuck you to warner album

Wouldn't the fact that FOB's song isn't the lead single from a new album impact its streaming numbers? Its just a bonus song from an upcoming greatist hits record, like Back in the USA was.

Back in the USA wasn't promoted as a single though. Really all it got was a music video. But it wasn't like a radio single and it didn't get any TV performances. FOB's new song has got all of those things

He says that rock music is supposed to be make you feel bad, and I don't agree with him on that one by the way, but it doesn't matter what I think. Of all the roads I had thought they could walk down after the genuinely positive and happy RevRad era, the destructive path was the one I expected the least, to be honest. I kind of envy all the people on here who say that they find this approach "new" and "exciting", cause for me it still feels like a step back. Partying and dancing till the apocalypse comes? Been there, done that, I guess. Can't shake off the 2012/Dos-vibe. If they're about to open Pandora's box of those dark times, I still don't know if I'm ready to open it with them.

It's cool everyone's concerned about Billie after what happened in 2012 but really it's time to move on from it. It was a moment in time where he learned something and then got better. There's always a group of people analyzing every little word he says trying to speculate if he's going to lead down that path again it's just getting stale seeing this over and over on the forum.

They're selling a record that is supposed to rock and be fast paced. They're not gonna talk about daisies, sunshine, smiles and unicorns. Well actually maybe unicorns....

They're letting loose and having fun and the best part is that it seems to have given them this jolt of energy and passion that's evident in the rhythm section.

I don't see the lyrics as having anything to do with Warner. It's about someone who has become disenfranchised with the world and has nobody to turn to. "I'm impressed with the presence of none" "What a mess, cause there's no one to trust", etc.

How can you call this a destructive path, why should they open a pandora box with this? I really don’t get it.

I‘m only talking about the general vibe I get from the things they say in those interviews so far and their fuck you-attitude, I just see some similarities to 2012 in the way they talk about some things, but of course I know this doesn’t necessarily mean that history will repeat itself.

And I‘m still looking forward to this record and the tour a lot, so don’t get me wrong. Maybe I just got too used to the overall positive and happy vibe I got from RevRad that it’s still a little bit hard to adjust to the new fuck-you-mode. I’m trying, believe me😊

Where the fuck did I called her a  lyrical master? Where did I even say she was good? Hell point me where I said I even liked her music?

either you’re blind or something cause whose the first songwriter listed for Me?

And childhood? Kid I’m a lot older than you

you might be older but that doesn't automatically mean you know how the music industry works

Couldn't have said this any better, it's exactly how I feel about it. The song definitely feels like a step back into a time that rather shouldn't be revived.

I can find some similarities between the vibe that Dos wanted to have (and I think only partially accomplished to) and the kind of energy the band have put in FOAMF and some of these initial interviews, but that’s it to me.

With all this rumoring about a direct link between this era and the Trilogy one, I rewatched some of the 2012 GD interviews. To me, in none of these Billie describes the Trilogy using this kind of “I’m in a state of paranoia, fuck off the world” energy, the vibe surrounding that release looks totally different to me (so far at least, we are still at day 4 :D). Not necessarily meaning that they were worse interviews (except the very extreme cases), but I can clearly see a different kind of message and energy, also from a promotional perspective, being transmitted. And, damn, Billie now sounds way more mature, both speaking about music, the band and himself. Despite (or maybe also thanks to) all the “I’m a rockstar fuck off the world” sentences.

And I am talking from a “style” perspective, I don’t wanna reopen the “health” discussion at all.

I worked in the music industry and film for 16 years worked with Warner and Universal before retiring do I know every single thing? no of course not I mean no one does everyone in the industry has spots they’re not 100% familiar with and spots that are 100% experts with but I was very successful made so much that I’ve been retired since I was 31 years old...

anyways I apologize for calling you a kid and for the condescending reply I read your first reply and thought it was being condescending and reading it back today I may have it took it the wrong way

Pretty sure the vibe they may be giving off here is them just playing the part of not giving much of shit pretty much how they did as the Foxboros.

Why guilt?

The song is still stuck in my head and I haven’t listened to it at all today. 😋

The song is ok I heard the live version on jimmy kimmel and billie sounded pretty good didn't think he could pull this off. But the guy vocally is a god. They also seem to have that edge again which I feel they had lost after the american idiot era. Anyone else feeling that?

I was wondering why Weezer and FOB released a music video together with the song (not sure you can consider that FOB icecream thing a music video tho) and GD didn't. Maybe it's just because it needed a longer production time, but then why don't release at least a lyric video in the meanwhile, or just schedule the filming differently? I think it might be because they are aware of the song potential and they are having a strategy to generate buzz around the song official audio, to then drives and build-up the views with a second and more powerfull video.

Some interesting data: the audio on youtube is having roughly the same amount of views of the Bang Bang (1,3 m after 4 days) and Oh Love (1,1 m after 4 days) lyric videos (source Wayback machine). Not bad I would say, considering that the most entertaining thing on video part of the video is a vomiting unicorn :D

I don’t get that Billie was saying stuff like “rock music isn’t meant to make you feel bad” and “everyones trying to write the feel good song of the year” and the next release a song that almost fits that exact description

I’m pretty sure he said bad as in make you feel like a badass.

What the fuck is up with the vocal filter? Seriously? Billie has an excellent voice and its part of what makes Green Day so recognizable. Ruining his voice is just annoying. Im disappointed but also not surprised since I haven’t LOVED anything from them in years. :( Also, the album art is absolutely horrendous. Yes I’m being harsh but only because these dudes have a place in my heart and it’s a shame they just don’t have the same effect on me as they once did
