So, while FOB and Weezer are out "selling" them on iTunes, GD is out streaming them on the 2 major streaming platforms.

I agree but we dont have any other numbers yet. We can draw more conclusions when more data is available

We have YouTube :) This is actually quite interesting: https://www.ifpi.org/downloads/music-consumer-insight-report-2018.pdf

In 2018, worldwide, 85% of music was listened trough on demand services, and 47% of this is YouTube. That’s the biggest indicator so far I would say :)

this is interesting, yet totally understandable with todays industry

Can't guarantee I'll keep it up past the 1st week. I'm just curious about the numbers of these 3 bands doing a planned release.

Yeah, I believed Spotify had a bigger share tho.

FOB also has Wyclef Jean featured on the song who's also a pretty big name. That helps them out a lot.

As of 1:11pm Central Standard time, Sept 13 numbers:

Spotify streams for the 3 songs:

GD: 795k

FOB: 716K

Weezer: 343K

Youtube streams (official channel video numbers):

GD: 925.5K

FOB: 416K

Weezer: 312K

(note: rounded to nearest 1,000 for ease of reporting)

Is that a good Spotify number for the single? I know it’s not close to Taylor Swift or Drake, but I’m just wondering what it means for the alternative/rock charts. I’d love to see them get another number one on there.

Not easy to compare, probably impossible, but just to have a reference about YT numbers: the Blame it on my youth lyric video (I think the first video for a single of this album uploaded by Blink) has 5,4 m views after 4 months, the darkside music video 3,2 m after two weeks. Sum 41’s Never there music video 3,5 m in 3 months, 45 1,2 m in 2 months.

Interesting numbers.

All bands in the same genre as these 3 bands.

Honestly, 925K steams for a video with nothing going on in it but the album cover after 4 days is pretty strong - in my book - in todays music world

Greendayerowid.com should be reserved.

And believe me, Green Day sounds out of this world.

Like in She in Chicago show.

EDIT: Like there was a time, when I listened to a full American Idiot. And I WAS Saint Jimmy. And I called my mother to say that I Iove her and that I am dying. And there was MY Whatsername. And there was a Homecoming. Billie surely reflected some very deep meaning through his lyrics to many people.

that sounds like an intense psychedelic experience...I can see that adding a layer to his lyrics, they're so good for interpretation.

Apologies for my comments earlier, but kinda sad that I can see what suspended person's response to me was that got him suspended.

I still love this fucking song. Like...can't stop listening to it love. Also cannot fucking wait til this is available at karaoke establishments because I am going to wear it the fuck out!!

Haha meanwhile I have to accept I'm not singing along to this publicly because it's way out of my vocal ballpark :P

It's out of Billie's too so you should be fine.

I don’t get that Billie was saying stuff like “rock music isn’t meant to make you feel bad” and “everyones trying to write the feel good song of the year” and the next release a song that almost fits that exact description

Except the fact that it isn’t a feel good song :)

He says that rock music is supposed to be make you feel bad, and I don't agree with him on that one by the way, but it doesn't matter what I think. Of all the roads I had thought they could walk down after the genuinely positive and happy RevRad era, the destructive path was the one I expected the least, to be honest. I kind of envy all the people on here who say that they find this approach "new" and "exciting", cause for me it still feels like a step back. Partying and dancing till the apocalypse comes? Been there, done that, I guess. Can't shake off the 2012/Dos-vibe. If they're about to open Pandora's box of those dark times, I still don't know if I'm ready to open it with them.

Him saying that rock and roll music isn't suppose to make you feel good but bad reminds me of when he was saying how he chose the title "Love is for Losers." Discussing with a friend on the phone how some bands can be marshmallow and "love is all you need" and mocking that (I don't remember exactly where he said that but I definitely remember he did!). Obviously he doesn't mean that rock n roll is incompatible with spending a good time and it's more assuredly the contrary when you hear him speak at shows, but I guess he means that it's meant to trigger something that's not all pink and flowers in you and that on the contrary connects to darker places. And/or it's just also the willing of having that bad ass attitude, perhaps in relation the the apparent "secrecy" the band seems to be in now to play with us a bit, "careful we're not here to make you feel good, we're gonna return everything upside down" lol

I showed my guitar teacher the video of the song live on Kimmel and he loved it. He's not very much into Rev Rad stuff which is my favorite but I noticed he already preferred trilogy stuff (even more the more provocative songs on it, not necessarily for the subjects but for the music and the singing) and now this. To each their own! He said it was a song that "works well." Like a core rock song. He's not even an affirmed GD fan so I guess this song hits the aim for this multiple rock band tour GD is in and this new era for them

I totally feel what you mean, but hasn't this self-destructive vibe sending back to the trilogy in a way already started with the Longshot? I mean, for me it's not negative or positive as such, but it's a part of what rock n roll is for Billie, certainly, or what he puts through it. To me, it's exciting as long as he seems to be happy and healthy and it has definitely been the case, from the beginning of Longshot to now. On the backside, the Rev Rad era emerges even more as an era that was so special because it was devoid of that feel of "rock star self-wasting" or whatever, along with Billie being full of joy and tremendous energy all the time. But I totally would say I'm excited and not worried now :P

How can you call this a destructive path, why should they open a pandora box with this? I really don’t get it.

Wouldn't the fact that FOB's song isn't the lead single from a new album impact its streaming numbers? Its just a bonus song from an upcoming greatist hits record, like Back in the USA was.
