guys, i’ve been MIA lately rethinking life. is it normal to grow out of a band? should i not expect anything from middle aged men? i’m just confused tbh, most rock bands that are popular right now over use shit like drum machines and synths, and the rest are flat out just adult contemporary music lol. I flat out do not fuck with it, even lyrically it’s all just bleak with no irony or humor to it.

i like a lot of young bands like the frights, twin peaks etc, but they can’t save rock, as wonderfully talented as they are. The frights even remind me of early green day live, not as energetic by any means but they’re the only thing comparable. and swmrs... i’m sorry but they’re some laughable art house slop now, but even that’s generous. They’ve won over that community completely around where i live.

i’m 21 years old what the fuck is going on in music. is it done for?

It’s natural to be into one thing one day and not the next  people grow and tastes change

you have a source on 2000 LYA?

and wow, a song about his life now seems way less genuine

Not sure if SB counts as a songwriting collab when it's clearly the case where ppl got credited because he ripped off their song.

jesus of suburbia has been my favorite song since i was 8 years old, it sill hits me just as hard every single time i listen to it.

i used to think their music just sounded cool but once i turned 16, every single song billie has written from the beginning - 2004 just has blown me away. he has taken my words flat out from my mouth more times than i can ever count. My respect for the man is beyond measurable, I’ve just been let down as of late.

Give "Should Have Been Me" by The Struts a listen and you'll see for yourself...it's writers of this song who are credited. In my opinion clearly a Brutal Love case.

I feel you but it's fine to love a band and admire someone while not liking everything they do. I used to get disappointed too, but it's just a matter of changing taste on both sides. We listen to other stuff and Billie writes different music.

Someone as asking how the song was doing on charts:

Sept 12

#60 on the iTunes "top songs" list (out of 200 shown in my itunes app)

#7 on iTunes Alternative list

I believe other "official" charts like, billboard, will be updated/released next week.

That's probably the main criticism I would have of a lot of main-stream artists. Yes, musical taste is subjective, but on top of that it's difficult to critique some of these artists' songs/albums, because it's not even always clear who even wrote what. I'm sure they're usually involved in the writing process somehow, but large parts of the melody, structure and even the lyrics are often written by staff. In fact, a huge swath of hit-songs over the course of the last two decades have been majoritarily written, or at least heavily co-written by only two guys in the industry: Dr. Luke and Max Martin.

Yep. And people wonder why songs on the radio all sound the same.

Those are the ones who write the MUSIC part

she writes her own lyrics

Hahahah no she doesn't.

Check the latest hit me! ..not written by her at all plus they had brendon urie jump in for some finishing lyrics...

Don't get me wrong, I actually dig Taylor and even tho it's all commercial, her music(especially the radio bangers) is easy to listen to and sing along to

But a lyrical master taylor? Umm no dude, sorry to break your childhood dreams
