Dude you're an angry music nerd just lay it down why you don't like something stop being a politician about it Sorry I'm just angry my rant about critics is over ..... for now and HORRIBLE camera angles...
Joe.
At least fantano has a decent range of music that he reviews, and is generally pretty knowledgeable.
DanPak
8 hours ago, Thatsername said: Depends on your definition of “new sounds”, I suppose. For me, the song FOAMF doesn’t really have a new sound except for the falsetto. And Billie’s feverish letter sounds like it comes straight outta 2012 – a “postcard from the past”, if you will. Apocalyptical partying, dancing and not giving a fuck sounds kind of familiar to me. So yes, we’ve only just heard one song so far and we don’t know how the others will sound like. But the general approach of the new record, the general topic and the “fuck you”-vibe don’t feel new or innovative to me, and I guess I had kind of hoped that they had moved beyond this point by now I kind of agree and disagree. There are definitely new sounds here, but they're very subtle. Like the drums sound like they've been sample replaced, and there are some subtle background sounds to add weight to the first best of each chorus, as well as effects automation on Billie's vocals. It all adds up to a much more contemporary sounding Green Day. But even with that, the productions nothing groundbreaking so far.

Well he is a music nerd. He listens to enough music to atleast understand some basics. Even his review of Green Day is still quite high based on the average scores he typically dishes out. However, he typically avoids doing reviews on really great albums for the sake of being a contrarian. For example, he chose to review In Utero rather than Nevermind. If I was a reviewer I'd review every Nirvana album not pick and choose a specific one. Even with Green Day he chose to review Rev Rad but didn't bother with Dookie or Insomniac. I'm a musician so I guess I expect someone to go into more depth when criticizing an album. I used to do a little sequence with my band members where I'd criticize bands, songs or albums and actually play the part and break it down from a musical perspective to back up my argument.
That Dude
Back on TRACK (literally!) people! Track list! Track list! We've got "Art of the Deal with the Devil" "Junkies on a High" "Sugar Youth" "Meet me on the Roof" "Father of All..." "Bullet Proof Back Pack" We need those other 4 song titles and we need them NNNNOOOOOWWWW. "Hella Mega" and "Bratwurst" were rumored . Were there any more rumored song titles? I can make some new ones if we don't have any more. Oh no....I just had a thought about Billie Joe getting drunk and ranting about Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Particularly Fall Out Boy. ANYWAY. back on TRACK!

Anyway, with the weird song titles, I'm very interested in hearing what they are about. "Bulletproof Backpack" has a fun sound to it, but I wonder if it'll be about school shootings or something. Song titles have a tongue-in-cheek vibe to them.

You know what’s also funny? With all the love/ mixed/ hate reactions here, it’s just a pleasure to have the interaction and see what everyone else is feeling. I am loving the song, but I’m also enjoying the other reactions as well, as they’re generally coming from a place I can relate to in thought and spirit. When AI came out, I was a longtime fan but we didn’t have anything like this- just perhaps greenday.net (Jason Holmes if anyone remembers)? None of my friends were into Green Day so I had no one to talk to or enjoy the moment with. I felt like I was living that huge moment myself, calling radio stations for info, and pissing my family and friends off by being excited about something they had no interest in. There are many reasons why I don’t like forums and large parts of the internet in general. But it’s really enjoyable to be able to connect with you all about what’s going on right now. I didn’t have that for AI, Warning, Insomniac, etc. and despite how little I like social media... well, it’s just fun to share this with you all
