I thought he just said he wrote 17 songs, not 17 additional songs

He said they started with 17 songs and chose 10.

Okay, feel free to correct me here, I'm just making sure I've got the story straight.  Green Day is still with Reprise Records, right? And Reprise is owned by Warner? So once their contract is up, they won't be working with Reprise anymore, right?  Also weren't they planning on working under their own label they were working on?
Sorry if these are all dumb questions lmao I've been out of the green day loop for a good long while

3,) The album cover. The title has Motherfuckers in it, there's a cutesy stupid unicorn, the album is a deface of American Idiot, its ugly. On purpose. To make it a hard sell.

They definitely are making it a hard sell. Although purchasing directly from Green Day's site you are able to get the cover without the unicorn but still it's just a defaced American Idiot cover.

I don't like the song.... :( I keep listening to it, hoping it'll grow on me... but meh.

That being said, I pre-ordered the explicit vinyl and the unicorn puke one, because Green Day.

Not a fan of the song either.. (yet.. or ever)

But I’m sure as hell ordering the new album. Hopefully they are not completely changing directions. There’s nothing Green Day about the new song.

If it’s truly a fuck off to Warner - no I think the fan base will love it and the public will be indifferent to the quality.

If this is it for a while and we’re wrong about it then yea it’s gonna be a toss up

It’s going to be interesting to see what Reprise/Warner will do with the unreleased music

Green Day owns their publishing but Reprise owns the recordings be interesting to see if they do a cash in release later on

im almost certain there will be. there always is in these scenarios. anything the label can put out, they will. whether it be re-issues of past albums with new presentation/content or 'rarities' collections or a box set. SOMETHING will be happening on warner's end. and probably sooner than later.

yeah the trilogy was a masterpiece compared to this. the production on the trilogy was some of my favorite ever, everything was so clear. Some songs were a good direction to go in as they matured.

i like the theories though. just wish it would come sooner than later.

3 vinyl variants in the web store. The explicit cover is limited to 1500 copies. Would grab post haste.

Appears to be sold out now.

To be fair I think it's still too soon to tell. We've only gotten 1 song so far and yeah, while it's definitely a very mixed song and the album cover is dogshite, I'm gonna wait until we at least get 1-2 more songs before making any kind of assumptions about the sound of the album

Agreed.

I'm also wondering if they're legally obligated to wait until after FOAM releases to put out any music independently? That has to be the case so they don't get sued, right?

The real problems of the Trilogy was the exaggerated number of tracks that sunk the record. The mixing was good IMHO, so much better than RevRad but I think technically the perfection was reached with 21Cb (Butch Vig is a pure genius) and one step lower AI

I don't know, they could interfere with the release of FOAMS
